I'm learning this too, and I can say that this guy explained to me why I'm playing the piano. And because of this vid I started to learn ''Moonlight sonata''. Thanks man!
improve TEMPO, try to keep timing...the "pathos" is made by the touch, not by the speed, you may find this quite difficault because of the digital keybord, which does not have the natural "scappamento" of the acoustic keys.
@ExcessiveHorse Yeah, I've known this song since I was like 7 or 8, but I stopped for about 15 years so I really need to read it to play it. It's easier because I already played it before. But believe me, I have a hard time reading notes now than when I was 10 years old. LOL That's why around summer time, I'll start taking lessons again :D
thanks for the feedback! I haven't played in over 10 years thats why i need the sheet. I used to know this piece by heart. But slowly getting back there. Thanks again! :D
Really enjoy your playing. I know it's not perfect but somehow in your music I can feel a heart for the music. That's what make music, music. Good job. Sounds great on your YDP-160 too. There's an expression that you capture and release in your music. I've played keys for 45 years. I make my living at it. You have something there. Keep working at the notes. anyone can do that. It's the heart that few can express in their music. You have that. It's called a gift. Keep up the good work.
how is it possible that you can read AND play at the same time. I tried that but failed, so I quitted playing the piece. I actually never finish most my sheets simply because i can not sight read :(
LOL, you are kinda like me too my friend. I tend to be impatient. Believe me, there are stuff that I cannot finish because I get intimidated instead of trying over and over again. It's just repetition. Try to play a different sheet music every time and finish it even you if you are slow and make mistakes. This is a good exercise to expand your skills. Because if u read different sheets, you are not just stuck to say the same stuff your studying over and over again.
Would you mind some suggestions that my piani teacher gave?
- The base tones can be a bit louder
- The triplets with the right hand should be much more quiet.. you should barely hear them and when the melody comes, the melody must be very loud, but the triplets should be still very low volumed. remember, the triplets are not the melody.
And quite important is to pronounce the FIRST tone of the triplet, not the last. its hard, but if you want, try it :]
Thanks Zet, appreciate all ur inputs... I havent really played this piece in like 8 years and I just gave it ago... I'm still glad I could still play it.. but I have to say, its pretty messy LOL (Believe me I know!, although a lot of people don't notice it.) When I watch it, I kind of cringe when I know I hit a wrong note or played it too soft or too loud... I seriously need a new teacher!
Dont worry about that you missed a few notes or it need's polishing you have not played for 8 year's. It will come back to you. I play my self i can play this to. just starting debussy clair de lune for my mum. And again DON'T WORRY. :)
Hey thanks for the comment and subscribing! I appreciate it a lot... Wow, claire de lune, that piece is tough... please do post it when you finish it! :D
Well done. You said you missed a few notes; played so well it's not noticeable (and I listen carefully...I was a concert classical guitarist for almost 30 years).
Have to say I love that piano as well. I'm not familiar with the 160; great, natural sound and dynamics.
But again, your playing was definitely the star of this video! Keep 'em coming.
Hey, I really really appreciate your comment! :D I will post more videos when I have time. And your subscription means a lot! Have a great day! - Paul
The speakers are great. It's loud enough. It has two 20 watts speakers which is really decent. The YDP-140 only has 6W so you can pretty much imagine the difference. I'll make a video review on this probably over the weekend. Thanks for commenting/subscribing! :D
Aren't the notes too strongly being played? Beethoven said that the entire music should be pp.

Did you ever find reading music hard? Or did you pick it up slowly as you played?
