This was well done; it seems that now most kinematic typography is just text and quickly moving scenes, but I prefer it when objects and pictures are somewhat intertwined with a phrase or word. Well done. Oh yeah, and VICIOUS COCK... Thought I'd join the bandwagon.

Trying to figure out whether kinetic typography is easier in flash or after effects. Any thoughts? How long did it take you?

@omarbaddar0 3 weeks or so ;-) But people tell me After Effects is easier for this kind of videos.

hey how did you do the popping 3d text?

was it just 3d text with a mask that it moved through? or do you have some other fancy technique?

@trentonx No fancy technique, I used 2 layers, top layer with white text, and the bottom layer yellow. Then I moved the white text a bit frame by frame, and manually adjusted the vectorised yellow text to make it look 3D. Per word the animation is 4 frames long, so per frame I had to adjust the drawing for it to stay connected to the moving word.

Ok I have done this in flash, the only problem I am having is the fact that when i tried to compress it into a Quicktime file, it leaves behind artifacts. So I saved it as a SWF file and adjusted accordingly...Now i'm having the problem that youtube does not support swf files. When I try to find a site that does, it lags out the vid and the sound is completely off. Should I just download a converter or something?

Try importing the swf in a video editor, and saved it to a video file .. that's what I did.

1. Import audio into Flash.

2. Drag audio to separate layer.

3. In the properties set Sync: to Stream.

4. Place a key frame on the end of the audio fragment.

5. Start animating all the words to the audio, I used 1 layer for every spoken word so I could animate them separately.

Hope that helps a bit.

This is an excellent typography and I'd like to see what you'd do in AE - Flash is great but AE is really built more for this kind of thing. The steps are pretty much the same in Flash - but you'd have an easier time in AE even with the learning curve.
