pretty great honor to have johnny cash not only like your song but like it enough to use it for himself. it does give me chills however i feel the original is amazing. i dont know if i can really compare the two because they're so different.
clytemnestra215 is the most macho dude I know. He eats his steak and potatoes and goes about his business. He didn't cry when his mother was raped by rodeo clowns. You pussies think he's gonna shed eye water over a song? He also has the biggest dick. He bet on every Rocky fight and won. I love him. NOT IN A GAY WAY.
this song made me cry its so sad because it reflects on his carrer in music he knows hurt its like 9' nails wrote this song for Johny Cash it makes me tear up every time
I never knew Mr. Cash, but I was privileged to know a few men who had. In particular a truck driver who met him on CB radio soon after June died. Johnny used to talk with and sing for the guys who were on the road away from their homes and families.I've never heard of Toby Keith or Trace Atkins doing anything like that. When I'm on stage playing guitar for my wife, who's into contemporary Christian, unfortunately, I will wear nothing but black in his honor.
I have listened to that song since it came out and I love Mr. Cash and I always cry at or near the end with the flood of pictures of him and June.....
"I pop the video in, and wow... Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps... Wow. [I felt like] I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore... It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form." - Trent Rezno
I wasnt a Johnny Cash fan but after he did NIN remake of the song, I became of fan. Yes the NIN version is my favorite, but Johnny definitely made it his own. The video makes it powerful! RIP Johnny
@indyracingnut...I know that Trent had great praise for Johnny Cash as an artist & spoke highly of his cover of this song. Cash fans out there, check out the America recordings. There are many covers on there that may break your heart. I'm curious about the quote that Trent will "never perform this song again," though. It is one of his anthems, played at every concert, long after this Johnny's video came out. Seeing Trent perform it live though, very emotional.
What an intesely moving visual to go with the same caliber performance of the song. The images of his wife, just behind him looking on with concern are simply heartbreaking. I think that is the operative word, the vierer/listener shares Cash's heartbreak. The images alluding to the Cruficixion make it even that more powerful, as Cash suffers his own cruficixion. Magificent.
I remember seeing this music video when I was 7. It was the first time I really saw these emotions and ever since then I cannot forget this song. They describe so many feelings that I've had through out my life
This song will make me cry...Challange accepted. This is a great song, loved it in like 94 when NIN did it, love it even more when Johnny Cash made it first. Oh while this song is touching and gives me chills, tears did not fall.
I love this cover but the description by the uploader is annoying as hell. You absolutely guarantee there isn't a single human being alive who can hold back the tears? Not everyone's you, man. Great song, though.
Eh wrong about the tears but will say it's touching should you or a near family member had/have issues. Because he did, i think it's the reason this or 'personal jesus' were the best songs on this album.
All the money, power, and fame in the world cant bring happiness, but longevity combined with it, cant take it all away. Great Video, never get tired of watching it.
Best song ever about making mistakes recovering from them and living life to the maximum and when your ready to Cash out make a beutifull song that many can relate.
As an RN I've been asked is suffering really necessary..I say "yes:, but never have explained it as eloquently as Johnny does in this song...thank you!!
When I saw this video for the first time in 2002 I knew Johnny Cash was dying. I love his music and hearing the shakiness of his voice I had tears in my eyes. I'm glad he's with his wife, and is no longer suffering. He had such wonderful talent, and a great voice. Rest In Peace Johnny.
@Stumpydubba this does not mean that...he has lost friends but he hasn't made new ones... his alone just like the verse 'if i could start again' this is a power ful song i write poetry and i can comprehend a lot of songs better than most that is my gift i agree he is a god but he is chained to mortality (by is i mean was) by his fellings of regret and loss
