  • 11 people have never hurt.

  • 11 people dont have a soul

  • pretty great honor to have johnny cash not only like your song but like it enough to use it for himself. it does give me chills however i feel the original is amazing. i dont know if i can really compare the two because they're so different.

  • only johnny cash can make a cover of something and turn it into an original work of art.

  • clytemnestra215 is the most macho dude I know. He eats his steak and potatoes and goes about his business. He didn't cry when his mother was raped by rodeo clowns. You pussies think he's gonna shed eye water over a song? He also has the biggest dick. He bet on every Rocky fight and won. I love him. NOT IN A GAY WAY.

  • its good but i cry :(

  • good but deppressing

  • this song made me cry its so sad because it reflects on his carrer in music he knows hurt its like 9' nails wrote this song for Johny Cash it makes me tear up every time

  • his heart broke when his wife, June died..... It's so sad but beautiful at the same time.

  • I never knew Mr. Cash, but I was privileged to know a few men who had. In particular a truck driver who met him on CB radio soon after June died. Johnny used to talk with and sing for the guys who were on the road away from their homes and families.I've never heard of Toby Keith or Trace Atkins doing anything like that. When I'm on stage playing guitar for my wife, who's into contemporary Christian, unfortunately, I will wear nothing but black in his honor.

  • I have listened to that song since it came out and I love Mr. Cash and I always cry at or near the end with the flood of pictures of him and June.....

  • RIP johnny cash, true legend

  • The best recording of any song since Smells Like Teen Spirit

  • @AmzingBeerDrinkngMan Smells Like Teen Spirit? Are you serious...

  • R.I.P. Mr. Cash

  • finally found real music moderen music sucks

  • @TheLink0800

There's plenty of good new stuff out there.

    You just have to look.

And besides...This is a cover of a nine inch nails song.lol

    A modern industrial band.

  • @Skeletonwitharaygun sure theres good music i'll take that back but alot of music now is autotune bs if you know what i mean

  • @TheLink0800 this is a modern song. look up nin...or apc... you might like em.

  • ima jam with this fucker on the otherside one day

  • He's the only person I wish I could shake his hand and say "Thank You"

  • "I pop the video in, and wow... Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps... Wow. [I felt like] I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore... It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form." - Trent Rezno

  • I saw this at a church and I literaly cried and I had to look away so no one saw me crying like an idiot. T__T

  • goosebumps, everytime

  • RIP johnny i know its not your death day but we will always remember you

  • This song is hard to play.....

  • POWERFUL.. never cried soo much .. i never cry at sad movies or anything..

  • I wasnt a Johnny Cash fan but after he did NIN remake of the song, I became of fan. Yes the NIN version is my favorite, but Johnny definitely made it his own. The video makes it powerful! RIP Johnny

  • The build up of the ending to this song is amazing.

  • Trent Reznor himself said he will never perform this song again because Johnny Cash completely made it his own. What a tribute.

  • @indyracingnut...I know that Trent had great praise for Johnny Cash as an artist & spoke highly of his cover of this song. Cash fans out there, check out the America recordings. There are many covers on there that may break your heart. I'm curious about the quote that Trent will "never perform this song again," though. It is one of his anthems, played at every concert, long after this Johnny's video came out. Seeing Trent perform it live though, very emotional.

  • Just an awsome song!

  • What an intesely moving visual to go with the same caliber performance of the song. The images of his wife, just behind him looking on with concern are simply heartbreaking. I think that is the operative word, the vierer/listener shares Cash's heartbreak. The images alluding to the Cruficixion make it even that more powerful, as Cash suffers his own cruficixion. Magificent.

  • johnny cash isn't dead got just wanted guitar lessons. :o)

  • @gangster26Lkk really original...You should get an award.

  • I remember seeing this music video when I was 7. It was the first time I really saw these emotions and ever since then I cannot forget this song. They describe so many feelings that I've had through out my life

  • this is so moving, I never get bored of this song. R.I.P. Johnny, EVERY ONE hopes your okay.

  • Anyone who's ever faced down addiction/alcoholism knows the meaning of this song. VERY MOVING.

  • @jzeiszle very true

  • Always loved this song and Johnny Cash, but no tears here.

  • If you dont feel this song then your not human.

  • this song always hits me....

  • This song will make me cry...Challange accepted. This is a great song, loved it in like 94 when NIN did it, love it even more when Johnny Cash made it first. Oh while this song is touching and gives me chills, tears did not fall.

  • woah look at the green lightsaber...oh wait thats the like bar

  • The best cover ever. Johnny Cash is the man. But the description said I would cry. I didn't.

  • I love this cover but the description by the uploader is annoying as hell. You absolutely guarantee there isn't a single human being alive who can hold back the tears? Not everyone's you, man. Great song, though.

  • @clytemnestra215

Eh wrong about the tears but will say it's touching should you or a near family member had/have issues. Because he did, i think it's the reason this or 'personal jesus' were the best songs on this album.

  • @clytemnestra215 why do you care about what the uploader wrote?

  • @justinrockercts Why do you care about what I wrote? Or maybe you don't and you're just commenting your observations, like I am.

  • This song gets to me every time.

  • Appreciation knows regret...

  • How can ANYBODY hate this song/video? It's way too good!

  • Rest in peace, Johnny. Know that, even in the end. People still listen, and love your songs.

  • All the money, power, and fame in the world cant bring happiness, but longevity combined with it, cant take it all away. Great Video, never get tired of watching it.

  • Isn't this originally from Nine Inch Nails? If it is, Cash just made them look bad, cause his version is better

  • @JonZam83 leave.

  • @JonZam83 just go home.

  • @YAMPproductions I am home.....

  • If there isnt a human being thats not moved by this song at all then they have no soul

  • Hundredth's cover is good too. if you enjoy hardcore music.

  • if you dislike this you can go shhot your self

  • R.I.P Little brother Chris 10/28/75-01/18/01

  • love this faken song

  • Best song ever about making mistakes recovering from them and living life to the maximum and when your ready to Cash out make a beutifull song that many can relate.

  • @garizonaaz You don't read do you? Read the description, Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails wrote this song.

  • Like this if you cried when you listened to this.

  • thumbs up if your black and you love this song!!!

  • As good as it gets !! Thank You Johnny Cash and Trent Reznor !!

  • NIN cover is of this is far superior.

  • @thereelphil NIN doesn't cover this song...its his song dumbass

  • @RabbiPanda Go fuck yourself.

  • @thereelphil Not my fault you're an idiot and don't do your research....no need for name calling

  • @RabbiPanda @thereelphil Actually he covers NIN's song.

  • @Poleus6475 I know.....that's what I was telling therelphil. I am a huge NIN fan

  • This is like being inside this man's pain!!!! Heartwrenching ! Beautiful!!!

  • This is what you call high quality..?

  • As an RN I've been asked is suffering really necessary..I say "yes:, but never have explained it as eloquently as Johnny does in this song...thank you!!

  • Can't stop crying.

  • if this doesnt make you cry you have no soul

  • @wgregorios i didnt cry but i did have chills

  • I like both versions equally, for different reasons.

  • R.I.P

  • wow

  • every persons pain during the journey of a lifetime, all walks of life ****

  • Seeing her choked up in the background makes me bawl my eyes out. Long live the memory of those two.

  • @Dethklok....great post. Thank you for sharing....that was amazing.

  • When I saw this video for the first time in 2002 I knew Johnny Cash was dying. I love his music and hearing the shakiness of his voice I had tears in my eyes. I'm glad he's with his wife, and is no longer suffering. He had such wonderful talent, and a great voice. Rest In Peace Johnny.

  • I am a huge Johnny Cash fan and i cant think of anyone who could do it better

  • great man

  • this song is gay no no fuck u this song is fucking amazing and if think it sucks i will cut u so bad that you wish i did'nt cut you so bad

  • I feel grief through this song yet my body wont shed any tears.. R.I.P. Johnny Cash

  • it sounds like NIN did a cover of this! no comparison!

  • I can not listen to this song with out tearing up. There will never be any one else quite like Johnny Cash.

  • I'm a nine inch nails fan and this doesn't in any way sound like a cover to me.

    R.I.P. Johnny Cash

  • @Stumpydubba this does not mean that...he has lost friends but he hasn't made new ones... his alone just like the verse 'if i could start again' this is a power ful song i write poetry and i can comprehend a lot of songs better than most that is my gift i agree he is a god but he is chained to mortality (by is i mean was) by his fellings of regret and loss

  • Johnny was a big part of my musical influence, we always did a few Cash songs.. a great entertainer and he is missed

  • the best cover ever

  • Great performer, nice song, but bring me to tears, sorry, it's just a song. Maybe if I was or had been a junkie it might affect me differently.

  • Sorry Mr Reznor, you may get the songwriting credit but Johnn Cash OWNS this song.

  • @WeezelDieselVid damn right. ****

  • @WeezelDieselVid pretty sure Trent Reznor said the same thing he said it was no longer his song but johny cash's

  • beautiful, just beautiful

  • what a man

    what a song.

and for those 7 ppl who disliked this i hope u all burn in hell, BURN!

  • @rhythm188 You hope people burn in Hell for simply not liking a song?

  • @rhythm188 now its nine people... but at least they will be warm.

  • RIP Johnny Cash.. RIP Mitch. I loved you both.

  • It is NIN song, and awsome,,but it was Johnny who put, meaning to it,,,,

  • I can hold back tears while watching this. It's hard as hell, but possible.

  • I just came home from a funeral, and had to watch this.. The video was playing in my head all day... Thank you, Mr. Cash.. (and Mr. Reznor)

  • this just so sad, I play it over and over. great song!!!

  • Praise the Lord Johnny Cash died a Christian man confessing the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior before death, Jesus is the only true way for eternal life. R.I.P. Cash

  • What a great man Johnny Cash was --- he will never be forgotton. Thank you for the music, the family and a life lived well. RIP, Mr. Cash.

  • no tears,but good song.

  • This is the best version. AND KNOCK IT OFF!!!

  • This song is beautiful but doesn't anyone realize what it means! It means that Johnny Cash listened to NIN! For all we know he was a Marilyn Manson fan too. Weird shit there.

  • loved the song. didn't love the video.

  • This is the highest low quality video I have ever seen.

  • 1:26 is when the tears started. R.I.P. Legend

  • i liove the cover better than the original xD

  • The only man that can do a cover and make it greater than original.

  • if my life were put to words and paper this song would be me

  • the fact that johnny cash could listen to trents song and make it his own should speak to alot of you out there bickering about your music genre....music is as great is it is diverse

  • RARELY do I ever listen/like cover songs. Johnny Cash just killed it!!! This is why he is a legend!!

  • I absolutely love Johnny Cash!! He nailed this song!! The man in black who spoke for the poor people! He had a rough life and any human being that has suffered from addictions and depression can relate to this song!!!

  • You're gonna hate me...I prefer the NIN version. But it's alright. I'd probably have to listen to it more but I'm not really into Johnny Cash's type of music.

  • screw all you who dislike this, one of the most amazing videos ever, look at the emotion...go listen to eminem douches

  • the finest music video ever made johnny documenting his vigorous youth to his ultimate demise from the earths coil watch consume and ponder my friends ! white suited boy bands lip syncing on a beach somewhere please take note this is what its all about at the end of the day.

  • @wavepsychic

You're an asshole. Visuals should have nothing to do with music.

  • @wavepsychic DUDE HE WAS LIKE 71 YEARS OLD! HE WAS BORN IN 1932 ANYWAY IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE!

  • @commanderinchief23 He's probably reincarnated by now. I wonder what he looks like.

  • @wavepsychic Don't be Dising on Johnny he was a Man's Man., a Man who litterally been through hell in back and wore the weight of the world on his shoulders every day. See how you'd look after living as long as he had, under such Emotional heart break.

  • at the end, the closing of the piano and the way he did it was very symbolic.

  • Hello Trent,I just listened to your version of Hurt, both versions actually, What you wrote and what you played. In moments of absolute zero sense of direction, the words "Tears of the Heart, The most Joyous of pain " bring about thaw to an otherwise isolated soul. Sifu Joseph Simonet Be Well...

  • I pop the video in, and wow. Tears welling, goose-bumps...Wow. I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore...It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bdrm as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated. That winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning. Different, but every bit as pure. - Reznor

  • johnny cash was a living legend, one in a million, a god among soul and country. R,I,P,

  • Love Johnny Cash, Their will never anyone like him ever again...

  • I was in my early teens when NIN did this song and i loved it, but i love this version even more. It always chokes me up and the fact that Johnny Cash passed away 6 months to a year after this came out makes me think this song was his way of saying goodbye. Johnny had a long career with many hits and great songs. This one song to me seems to be a fitting way to say goodbye.

  • like this is you came here because of Rage Comics

  • I cried and Im a tough bastard

  • Absolutely beautiful..words can't describe. You can tell this means something to him; and it makes the song mean something to yourself. R.I.P. Johnny Cash, you are a legend

  • Johnny know pain. Did you see "Walk the Line?"

  • this song made me cry

  • this guy is a legend who we will always miss if you dislike this song screw you and you dont know what music is

  • only johnny cash can take someones song and make it a hit lol great man

  • Living Legend in Country Music!!!!!

  • regardless of what people say, I;ve often wondered if it was a woman (June Carter) or an addiction to drugs that led him to write this song? maybe h? ANYBODY know for real, let me know.

  • @chozen1az It's a cover of Trent Reznor's song, he didn't write it, he did his own interpretation though

  • It takes a true artist to make you FEEL the lyrics. You are missed Johnny.

  • come on people, this is Johnny Cash!! Did you expect anything less. The man in black just loved June.

  • 5 dislikes? Nice try satan.

  • @jnwking every now and then i come across one of those comments that make me start laughing out loud. this was one :)

  • @opnavesea Haha! I didn't even remember this until you replied to me. It made me laugh to.

  • Awesome, a master takes on the average and makes it better.

  • Johnny Cash is one of the few singers that only got better as he got older.
