I've got Ural M67-36 - Bought it for 680$ at country, nearby Novgorod.
Here in Russia, old Ural's in quite good state costs not too much - but 650 engie sucks alot.
I think I got to Moscow on this Ural only with God's help, because wheels were eights, compression on both cylinders was almost 0 (in spite of it it ran 60mph (90 kmph)) - cylinders were totally scratched, rings were crashed, and pistons were burnt =) Valves' bushes were played out, valves' plates - bend and it's saddles - deformed
I bought a new Ural 650 (M67?) solo in 1986 for less than £1000. It was basic but built like a tank. Today in the UK they appear way over priced at £9000 for the sidecar outfit - waaay too much.
This bike is kinda cool..But waaay overpriced.Who wants to buy a russian copy of a ww2 german motorbike for the same price as a new car??I remember they were sold here in the early 90's,price was about the same as a 125cc jap bike.
In the early 90's their quality was awful. You get what you pay for!
The bikes they sell today are way better. I have an '03 Ural. Five years old now. Leaks no oil. I can flog it for a three day weekend road trip and it uses no oil and nothing comes out of adjustment. Great bike! My 1995 was never that good. And the new bikes they make now have been improved over what my '03 is. To say that this company has taken to quality as though it were religion is putting it mildly.
Small cars are mass produced items like McDonald burgers. You throw them away after a few years too. That's not what these are about. I plan to pass mine down to my son someday. They are infinitely rebuildable too, unlike most most modern machines. A good home mechanic can work on everything on this bike and needs no dealer except for parts. And don't forget how the dollar has tanked the past few years. That has directly led to much of the increase since these are low number production bikes.
OK,but it still requires someone with special interest and too much money.I think the price is a ripoff, what do you think they cost in Russia? And over there its an item of use,not a recreational vehicle. These factories would never had survived unless their bikes were cheaper than cars.

. Old engines needed whole reassembly between 15000-20000km. I think, in my case, that just owner treated this bike bad.
All this shit happened when counter showed on 10000 miles (15000 kilometers).
New Ural bikes is absolutely more reliable. Guys here rides for 90000 kilometers and more without problems

70's there where common in finland because of the price. More like 1 000€ back then.
