@semiautoriflelover1 We are both wrong. Unit cost is 47-57 million depending on features. Regardless, it just makes the argument for drones more solid. If your army can float a 40-50x numerical advantage over your enemy for the same cost you would be nuts not to take the numbers. Drones are cheap enough that an individual with the money could now give the USAF a run for its money and could dominate the rest of NATO.

@myloveforeveryours No its not a joke. Drones already exceed the F22 and the PAK FA in performance, range, attack capability, time over target, maneuverability and so on. There is a limit to how much a pilot can handle before they drop dead. Drones never get tired, never have bad days, never have other stuff on their mind, never need to recover from a long mission. Manned fighters are at an end. Numbers win wars - and drones add up to much more than traditional planes.

UCAV's are the future and the present. UCAV's get the majority of the funding. Manned flight is at its twilight and will soon be a distant memory. Once AI catches up human controllers will be a memory as well.

@RamenTouring No one aircraft ain't invisible when do air intake (tanker is visible). Engines of PAK FA are made with compositte materials. Do not worry - T50 is better invisible than F35!
@montedjuro No you are confused. First tankers do not provide "air". They provide Fuel for the fighter jets! Second, pak fart has a low RCS, Stealth rating. Why? Because it's inlets do not hide the compressor blades of the engines. The basketball sized IR dome sticks out and reflects radar waves. The moveable LERXs above the inlets are big reflectors of radar. Large round nozzels set widely apart give huge IR heat signature. For these reasons pak fart is not stealthy.

@TULLYNOL Basically, yeah. The form of the F22 is a big part of what makes it stealthy, if it were shaped like the F16... You know how long it takes to develop a full fighter jet? Many many years, the F22 was making test flights in 1997. And it had probably been an idea and in development for awhile before that.
Also the T-50 is larger than the F22 and looks more like a stealthed Su 35 than it does the F22. At least to me, both are great jets, and form does follow function!

It is all about upgrading the weapons systems to a new level. S300 covers a radius of 300 KM and height of 64 KM, where as for S400 the range is 400KM. Deployment time for S/300/400 is just 5 min whereas you're great Patriot system takes 2 hours.
Why we making new one? :D Coz C-500 will be able to shot targets in space , and its range will be increased to 700-1000km. This systems can shot down any targets including nuke rockets.
And thats not my goverment afraid of C- systems.

If your army can float a 40-50x numerical advantage over your enemy for the same cost you would be nuts not to take the numbers. Drones are cheap enough that an individual with the money could now give the USAF a run for its money and could dominate the rest of NATO.

@myloveforeveryours No its not a joke. Drones already exceed the F22 and the PAK FA in performance, range, attack capability, time over target, maneuverability and so on. There is a limit to how much a pilot can handle before they drop dead. Drones never get tired, never have bad days, never have other stuff on their mind, never need to recover from a long mission. Manned fighters are at an end. Numbers win wars - and drones add up to much more than traditional planes.

@Russiasuperpower1 You don't need AI to run them. Human controllers are better suited and easily trained. AI has a long way to go before its on par with even the most junior combat trained pilots. UCAV's are the future and the present. UCAV's get the majority of the funding. Manned flight is at its twilight and will soon be a distant memory. Once AI catches up human controllers will be a memory as well.

@montedjuro No you are confused. First tankers do not provide "air". They provide Fuel for the fighter jets! Second, pak fart has a low RCS, Stealth rating. Why? Because it's inlets do not hide the compressor blades of the engines. The basketball sized IR dome sticks out and reflects radar waves. The moveable LERXs above the inlets are big reflectors of radar. Large round nozzels set widely apart give huge IR heat signature. For these reasons pak fart is not stealthy.

@TULLYNOL Basically, yeah. The form of the F22 is a big part of what makes it stealthy, if it were shaped like the F16... You know how long it takes to develop a full fighter jet? Many many years, the F22 was making test flights in 1997. And it had probably been an idea and in development for awhile before that.
Also the T-50 is larger than the F22 and looks more like a stealthed Su 35 than it does the F22. At least to me, both are great jets, and form does follow function!

It is all about upgrading the weapons systems to a new level. S300 covers a radius of 300 KM and height of 64 KM, where as for S400 the range is 400KM. Deployment time for S/300/400 is just 5 min whereas you're great Patriot system takes 2 hours.

@eag11e When Australia brought plans and Submarines from the US. We ended up having to spend 3 times more than they are worth to fix them. Due to systematic problems with them. It was messed up. We pretty much had a govt thrown out because of that.

@eag11e Planes* When we actually relied on our own equipment we were just fine. Whenever we seem to buy from the US things tend to get messed up. Either we're being sold duds, or the equipment itself is very shoddy.
After seeing the stock market shennanigans trading debt perpetually like it was some sort of pseudo currency. Which eventually crashed the entire economy, It wouldn't surprise me if it was duds.

I truly believe that with the US economy as it is, its doller is collapsing slowly, they won't have enough money and neither will other countries, at least not to procure them in the numbers you have said. Especially when you consider, what do they need that many for? There are already quite a few jets in the US inventory that could be upgraded to be more capable.

@sexyitalian891 The reason I am down on the new US jets is because of cost, and what they come with. The F22 is super expensive, and needs expensive support in the field, it can't just fly a mission on its own it needs numurous support aircraft depending on the job. What happens when F22 turns on that powerful radar? Well, it sure isn't as stealthy anymore thats for sure. I believe the F22 is a dud, its just too expensive to use, since any other aircraft can perform its job. A no purpose jet.
