I wonder if it's a terrible thing to say that I like the Crush 40 version a miniscule amount more than this one, if only because of the introductory riff. I'm sure somebody will come along and remix it to the best of both versions.
It's so hard to decide... I love both versions, but I'm going to go with this as the better one. And believe me, it's not often I say that when comparing to Crush 40.

But then Shadow showed up, and obviously, that wasn't canonical, because Sonic is still alive. The mechanics and themes of Shadow were just too far a stretch from what you'd expect from a Sonic universe game, I mean really? Guns? Overly angsty and broody themes? Not to mention the awful controls...
I hope Sonic Team take what theyve learnt from Generations (An absolutely amazing game) and apply it to the adventure series formula and leave the additional characters out of it this time, Sonic + Shadow is all thats necessary.

the original is so much better then the remix. not that crush 40 is bad (i like most of there sonic songs) but their remixes of sonic songs not by them aren't as great as they are made out to be (especially: With Me, Un-Gravitfy and I'm Free!)
I liked their version of Un-Gravitify more than the original. But yeah, a lot of their other remixes aren't great. My least favourite remixes they've done is Seven Rings in Hand and His World.

gotta find the one resposable for the mistakes in sonic games planning(and other things in general)
the navy thing its because in the anime one piece, among the unnecesary censoring 4 kids did they changed marine logos to navy everytime it apeared and japan's mostly composed of islands, so marine
the stealth its because no one else can get into usa(security is too tight)

the original is so much better then the remix. not that crush 40 is bad (i like most of there sonic songs) but their remixes of sonic songs not by them aren't as great as they are made out to be (especially: With Me, Un-Gravitfy and I'm Free!)

I liked their version of Un-Gravitify more than the original. But yeah, a lot of their other remixes aren't great. My least favourite remixes they've done is Seven Rings in Hand and His World.

I BELIEVE..... that Sega royally f*cked up with the Crush 40 version. The intro is the ONLY good part of that song. The day I heard this theme I IMMEDIATELY, fell in love with it. And then when I played Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), and heard the new remixed version I had only one thought..... WHAT.....THE....FUUUUUUU-?!?! This theme song will NEVER grow old.

story-line was to un-sonic like so that's frowned upon
if this was made by the ORIGINAL Sonic Team, not a last-minute team with some of the origianls
if only sega didn't go cuz the dreamcast had potential to have better ports of games like this and sonic hereos cuz if they went back to SA-SA2 like devolopment, then this would been king
