Why did you make up a position to attack libertarians? Libertarian's do not support war, naked body scanners, the FBI, coercive or untruthful busyness as all of these hurt Liberty. Every argument in here isn't the libertarian position or you attack not the ideology but the people. If I had choice in where my money went, it wouldn't be called tax it'd be consumer spending. As for the "real world" argument, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia New Zealand and Switzerland all have free market economies.
@DMAN123223 Where then exactly are the libertarian voices speaking out against these things? I seem to remember a bunch of rightwingers and libertarians coming out to protest a few years ago, but when they came to protest, it was against taxes and "big government," i.e. entitlement programs. They didn't seem to care about war, or civil liberties, or the TSA.
I see plenty of liberals out there in the Occupy movement protesting these things. Why are not the Libertarians doing the same?
@hawanja I think it's funny how libertarians like to hold Hong Kong up as some kind of shinning example of their economic model in action. They do this with little to no regard for the fact that Hong Kong has extensive govt housing projects and utilities.
@DMAN123223 "As for the "real world" argument, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia New Zealand and Switzerland all have free market economies."
Actually, they aren't 'free market' economies in the Austrian Economics/right-leaning libertarian sense. They are more accurately referred to as mixed economies. New Zealand however had it's brush with neoliberal Reaganomics in the 1970s and it ransacked their economy. Even today they are still unable to catch up to their neighbor Australia because of this
Libertarians have always struck me as half liberal/half conservative. When it comes to social issues like abortion, gay marriage, pornography, etc...they're liberal. When it comes to fiscal issues like taxation, public welfare programs, finance, etc...they're conservative. In other words, libertarians just want you to let them be.
@LatinRiteChristian Libertarians complain about statist coercion, but they have no compunctions about forcing their "Ununited Non-States of America" onto the rest of us. Jefferson might of been for small gov't but was also for public schools and anti-monopoly laws.
Provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare are general clauses for good reason, and we are in no way perpetually constrained to this recently-fabricated tiny list of gov't powers.
"When did the founding fathers intend for us to have naked body airport scanners"
Libertarians advocate for this?
"If someone robs you, you don't get a say in how much or how it's spent"
If you, a bystander, and I vote to spend a certain amount of money on something, and then use force or the threat there of to get the money and spend it, it isn't robbery?
@didles123 Libertarians vote Republican, do they not? That's where the naked body scanners came from.
And nope, it's not "robbery," if I also vote to spend that money on something. But even if I don't, if I live in that community and the community votes for it, even if I choose to not take part, the community still has a right to collect said tax, and it would still not be "robbery." Hey, when you get Jury Duty is the state "robbing" you of your time?
Dearest Mr. Hawanja: I'm glad to see that you researched libertarianism extensively before producing this video. You have both demonstrated superior comprehension of our ideals and displayed an admirable tolerance for views opposing your own. Well done sir!
@RotaryFanatic I'd like to thank the academy, Gary Sinise, Dwayne Wayne, Carrotop, Dennis Woodruff, Jesus Christ, and the little people too... Tattoo, Mini-Me, Gimili son of Golin, Frodo Baggins, the Smurfs... I couldn't have done this without you all.
Libertarians delude themselves that they are self-made and are not reliant on, nor have a responsibility to, society. They are leeches on the commons and are sociopaths. Worshiping the Free Market and John Gault gives them a pose of legitimacy to a mindset that is no further developed then a child's selfishness. Libertarians can only be that way, because a) they only talk the talk and b) most of the rest of us think that it is a jerky mindset. If everyone was a Libertarian, it would be Chaos.
@JMRChannel11 NOPE...If everyone was a libertarian, the initiation of violence would be mitigated in society and self ownership and property rights would be paramount. If everyone was a statist, it would be Orwellian.
Libertarians are selfish jerks who game the system to their own ends. These are the same free market tycoons were more than happy to take bail out money when they screwed up. If they were REALLY believers, they would have let the market decide... to the failure of their own companies.
@JMRChannel11 No that's actually not true, the libertarians are against government bailouts. It's the typical conservative and Keynesian that's for those policies.
OFF base, we libertarians can't stand the intervention of liberty od individuals from CIA, FBI, TSA, Interventionist Foreign/military policy...etc etc, It's one thing to criticize libertarians, but this just is not valid, Im against most things you say Im not against, re-evaluate the libertarian message!
@hawanja So, it's ok for you to say "fuck you" in your video, but if I say it you have to point it out? And "say whatever you want" -- really? Are you incapable of responding to something that's less than 500 characters? For someone so opinionated you really have a lot of growing up to do.
The govt should not have scanners in airports. Talk about infringing on people's rights. Why should little kids be patted down over their whole bodies? They shouldn't. We should not have military bases all over the world. We should take care of our own country, leaving other countries to control themselves. No, Libertarians do not believe the govt is out to "fuck us over" 100% of the time but they should not be in control of my life. The power should be in the states, not the federal government.
@kippyafd " The power should be in the states, not the federal government." Libertarians like to pretend they are the only ones concerned abt civil liberties. They also would be happy w/ oppression so long as it occurs at the state level, they'd rather have that then the big bad federal gov stepping in to prevent it (ie. that big bad evil CRA). They also like to ignore the supremacy clause, which clearly states the fed constitution & federal law have supremacy over any state const or state law.
Its not just MY money the govt is stealing, its EVERYONE'S taxes that are being stolen. Also, do you honestly think you will win anyone over when you call Libertarians all kinds of insulting names throughout your whole video? Social security is not successful, it is broke. Medicare doesn't pay the whole bill, it pays a portion of it, the rest, the drs get stuck writing off. It also doesn't provide all the care that is needed.
@kippyafd 1)Taxation is payment for services 3) You live in the US, in the US the constitution, not your opinion, is the supreme law of the land and it allows for taxation 4) Prior to SS most seniors ended up in poverty, the problems w/ SS wouldn't be happening if the trust fund wasn't raided & borrowed from 4) Medicare was created b/c most seniors couldn't get insurance, ins companies wouldn't even sell to them, considered them a high risk group
If you hate america so much then GET THE FUCK OUT.Your a liberal, so its not like you actually WORK or CONTRIBUTE to society.BTW I could flag this video and have it deleted immediately.
@Richard11216 " I could flag this video and have it deleted immediately." So your wannabe fascist who goes around trying to get videos removed that you disagree with? A good portion of right wingers are the ones living crappy lives, working low income jobs but have been scammed into voting against their own interests. Actually you should check out that recent study linking low intelligence with those who support right wing politics, you seem to fit the mold.
@Richard11216 Also, what exactly would you flag this video for? Indecency? There's no naked pictures here. I'm not promoting hate speech, supporting terrorism, advocating violence, or anything else that's illegal. I'm simply expressing my opinion as to why Libertarians make me angry. I'm sorry that you feel you have to resort to CENSORSHIP to retort my opinion.
@hawanja Ironic especially since Libertarians are supposedly against big government and the rights of people huh? xD But this video oh god the humanity! The defilement of his rights!
@hawanja Wow...I am a libertarian and I just spent the last hour listening to a lecture by Noam Chomsky. I love opposing viewpoints. But childish name calling ?
I would also love to see the liberals who dont buy from corporates. It would help if leftists did not post so many videos on corporate owned Youtube, btw.
What, the bureaucrats werent creative enuf to make you a bureaucrattube where you could share videos? Doesnt surprise me at all, but should make you think.
@hawanja What? I was talking about government bureaucrats. Why did you share videos on a corporate site like youtube? And now...you say you have PARTNERED with corporate owned youtube. For PROFITS! Ah...the irony! Now your hand is dipped in blood too!
Surely your creative and loveable government bureaucrats made you a bureaucrattube where you can share ideas and videos. Why partner with this disgusting shameful corporate website?
@Mrparrot73 Well it's not that I want corporations to be destroyed, but I would like to reform them, so that they don't pollute, pay people well, etc.
@hawanja Reform the corporations? how? By use of those kind hearted, hard working, creative state bureaucrats?
Instead of trying to reform the corporations with all the power of wise and gentle government, wouldnt it be just better to remove the corporations and put all property and means of production in government hands?
You know, we could all work for the govt, the govt would ensure fair pay and no discrimination. Wouldnt that be just awesome?
@Richard11216 HMM..so any one who has a different political view than your's you define as "hating America"? Any one who has a different view than you is lazy and unproductive? You want to censor opinions different from you own? Considering how you like to dehumanize those whose political views differ from yours you have much in common with history's other great tyrannts. You're living in the wrong times. You'd make an excellent minion for Hitler.
@Richard11216 Why does it seem like so many Americans says this line whenever they get offended? What? so people should leave America if they want to express their difference of opinion? I don't agree with everything hawanja says, but don't you think it's a little hypocritical to support liberty and freedom of speech, and then when someone says something you don't like, they have to "get the fuck out"? This is exactly his point. Fuck you.
lol.... virtually every single sentence you uttered is exaggerated, inaccurate, or completely wrong. I wanted to respond to something specific but you just continuously piled on ignorant statements. Saying "fuck" or "bullshit" doesn't provide automatic credibility to a position. If you ever want to actually know about libertarian positions, I'll be more than happy to walk you through it.
@hawanja These people who resort to such tactics, along with their expressed desires to kill people, are nothing more than modern day ideological brown shirts.
The first thing any sane person knows is that nearly everyone on this planet is mentally ill and the two most pervasive forms of mental illness are religion and government.
"The fact that millions of people share the same vices does not make these vices virtues, the fact that they share so many errors does not make the errors to be truths, and the fact that millions of people share the same form of mental pathology does not make these people sane." - Erich Fromm
@sanitydotorg "any sane person knows is that nearly everyone on this planet is mentally ill"
It's quite common for mentally disturbed people (ie you) to think they are the sane ones and the only ones who know the truth and it's everyone else who is insane. I've known diagnosed paranoid schizophrenics who have expressed the exact same thought as you. You should get yourself some help. You would probably have a happier life if you did. You aren't going to have one w/ the anger & paranoia you have.
2 minutes in. You say libertarians don't believe corporations can do no evil. Who are these "libertarians" you're getting your information from? You are literally NOT talking about libertarians
Yes he is insane. Govern-ment is mental illness and anyone who supports it is mentally ill. Hawanja's anti-social personality disorder is even deeper than most statists as it is complicated by his schizophrenia and deep psychosis.
@sanitydotorg Let's see...you are the guy who hates and wished to destroy the very society you live in and murder those members of it who you disagree with - yet you call other anti social. You accuses those who disagree w/ you of being mentally ill, & as I've found from your comments on other videos you do that to anyone who disagrees with you about anything - from trade policies to computer operating systems. Thinking you know all & everyone else is wrong. Classic of certain mental illnesses.
By the way, yes i went to public school. I also went to a private college, as well as a public university.
Private schools are usually a joke to begin with as the reasons behind them not being supported by the public, are usually due to their religious affiliations. That, or they only teach material in one centralized area (like a tech school) and not a broad enough scope for the public to put interest into.
The first thing they taught us about the history of the internet, is ARPANET and that it was developed primarily to be used in communications with allied networks for fear of a nuclear catastrophe.
Fuck sake you batshit crazy libtard, look it up yourself: The Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET), was the world's first operational packet switching network and the core network of a set that came to compose the global Internet.
We must rob people in order to provide them with "services" that they would never purchase if given a voluntary choice. Taking your money by violence so that the government can spend it rather than you is how the state provides you with freedom.
WAR IS PEACE. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.
Yeah. I do realize Orwell was a socialist. 1984 was an instruction manual for how to create the types of schizophrenics who believe that taxation provides value and post videos like this on Youtube.
@sanitydotorg Try paying for your own police, schools, snow removal, sanitation services, etc. out of your pocket. It's going to cost you a hell of a lot more than you may in taxes. The US existed long before you did. It didn't come along and force itself on you. You aren't forced to live here, yet you wanted everyone else to give it up and hand you want you want on a platter. Now that's one hell of a sense of entitlement. It's the attitude of a spoiled child.
Ah the "Love it or Leave it" fallacy. Now there's the mark of a true sociopath. So anyone who does not want to be robbed by the IRS should head out to the woods. I guess the Jews who didn't want to get gassed should have left Germany.
@sanitydotorg 1/2 Nothing sociopathic about it. You have just made the fallacy. You do not live under an authoritarian regime. There are people who are who would love to live where you do. You should trade with them. You're like a little child stomping their feet in a store screaming "not fair" b/c you can't have what you want. Society isn't obliged to give you anything just b/c you want it.
@njanovic1980 2/2 There are those of us who prefer a state organized society & this state existed long before any of us did. If you want to live in some stateless "society" it's on you to find it for yourself. None of us are obliged to give it to you b/c you want it. You are the lunatic here. Ranting about wanting to kill people to create some perfect society (same as history's greatest tyrannts). It's not even possilbe to have a ration conversation w/ deluded hysterics like you).
"child stomping their feet in a store screaming "not fair" b/c you can't have what you want. Society isn't obliged to give you anything just b/c you want it. "
LOL. Sounds like you're describing yourself. You're the one who who goes crying to Big Daddy government to terrorize your neighbors into buying things for you that you refuse to pay for yourself.
@sanitydotorg You don't know anything about my life. Yep I prefer we all contribute to pay for those things like roads, police & emergency services. Just like the majority of the people in this country do. You are too idiotic to realize if you had to pay for those individually out of pocket rather than collectively via taxes they would be prohibitively expensive for most. That's what the majority want so you are shit out of luck. Move to somalia, no effective gov there.
"I prefer we all contribute to pay for those things like roads, police & emergency services. Just like the majority of the people in this country do. "
Pure raving nonsense. You prefer not to pay for those things. You prefer to force other people to pay for them. If you preferred to pay for them, you wouldnt need taxes. Taxes exist so that other people are forced to pay for them. Thanks for playing. You're a psychotic and a sociopath.
@sanitydotorg1/2 Every one is required to contribute b/c all use and benefit from them. Go read up on the free rider problem. If you think people will just pay voluntarily you are insane, people will always try to get something for nothing and your lala land day dream fantasy world would soon collapse. Go read up on the Articles of Confederation when the fed gov had no power to levy taxes. That voluntary thing didn't work out.
@njanovic1980 This is true, but you know why? Because the Articles of Confederation were written along the lines of alliance construction rather than annexation; leaving that little itty bitty part about money out of it became a huge issue for the states after having just fought an 8 year war, not to mention all the help from France which we owed them for...
@saifoda The A of C left the federal gov unable to pay those debts. Thanks for the politeness by the way. If any one here has any mental health issues I think it's sanitydotorg. I'd never suggest those who disagree with me should be murdered, where as he seems quite enthusiastic over the idea of mass murder. All of the worlds great utopians thought if they just removed certain groups from society they could create a perfect society. All that gave the world was Pol Pot & other such types.
@njanovic1980 Yes and no. In effect, the government was unable to pay them, but really they were more or less illegal from the beginning (this is a stretch, I know). It's kind of like looking at something that says 2 = 4, just that it's missing the "2 +..." from it.
@saifoda The federal gov had no power to levy taxes, could only request funds from the states - which they ignored when those request were made. The legislature could make decisions but had no power to enforce those decisions. It was a mess, didn't work out. Unlike this sanitydotorg guy I concern myself w/ the realities of the world & practical ways of dealing w/ them, not with idealized visions of how I think the world should be.
@sanitydotorg 2/2 You are sociopatchic psychotic. Thinking your wants are so great an entire society should just abolish the system it's chosen in order to make you happy. A person ranting about wanting to kill those who disagree with them has no business calling anyone else pshychotic or sociopathic. The majority wish to live in a state, tough shit for you, you're out of luck here. You want a stateless utopia you need to go find it for yourself.
Saying that any person who supports the existence of government ought to be executed immediately is not expressing a desire. It is a statement of FACT. The state routinely executes people for conspiracy to commit homicide, but the state itself is a conspiracy to commit homicide. Ergo, by their own standards, anyone who supports the existence of government deserves to die. That's called Justice: treating people as they treat others.
@sanitydotorg hey man, you need to shut the fuck up. You're not helping anything. Anybody can prove anything about anything (and thus, everything about everything -- haha, schroedinger's cat) using existentialism like that. I am a libertarian, and you and others like you are the reason why I know it will never work; it's not because it's fundamentally flawed, it's because dumbshits like you would have too much freedom and would fuck everything up even faster.
Well then you are mentally ill as well. There is only one ethically and economically valid answer to the question of "How much government should we have?" and that is none at all.
@sanitydotorg Do you even know the definition of mental illness? It's synonymous with psychological disorder, which states that deviation from an accepted norm constitutes a psychological disorder. By that definition (which is the true definition, if we're speaking American English here), YOU are mentally ill. So, like I said, get away from all your existential bullshit and try having a real conversation. But hey, if you want to, I'll do the existential thing with you all day long.
"deviation from an accepted norm constitutes a psychological disorder."
So, then the majority must be sane no matter how psychotic and schizophrenic their ideas are? Talk about being completely crazy! Come off it douche bag. Plato was one of the most psychotic people in all of human history and even he knew that argumentum ad populum is a fallacy. If you're less sane than Plato, then you really have problems.
@sanitydotorg lol the first then. I'll address it then. You were the one who said that I was the one who was mentally ill. I simply pointed out that by the definition of mental illness that you were the one who was mentally ill, and that you can either continue to digress from reality in these conversations or you can change your language.
"digress from reality in these conversations or you can change your language."
You're the one who is digressing from reality by claiming that the state is something other than mass psychopathology. Calling the state and it's supporters mentally ill is not an ad hominem, as it is not attempting to make an argument, but rather to make a statement of fact.
well, see now there you have, an immediate problem. I'm not psychotic, so unlike the APA, I don't start off by defining mental illness, meanwhile being completely unable to define mental health. When you don't start off from axiomatic principles, it's no wonder that their definition of mental illness is really nothing more than an arbitrary popularity contest.
First of all, sanity is a process, not some end state of affairs. How do you know your sane? By definition, a delusion is something you are unaware is false. Claiming you are 100% sane is analogous to claiming we will never make any new scientific discoveries because we know everything already.
@sanitydotorg But sanitydog! Don't we already know everything?!?!?! Like wheat bread is better than white bread, therefore wheat bread is good?!?!?!?!??!?!?!
Sanity is the process of sanitizing your psyche of delusions and hallucinations, whereby we arrive at higher orders of truth. E.g. in 2003 89% of Americans thought there were WMDs (a term that isn't even objectively definable) in Iraq. That was mass-psychosis. Thankfully, most of them have recovered, at least from that delusion, but if you were to critically examine the beliefs of most people you would find that almost nothing they believe is true.
Most people cannot think clearly because most people have been brainwashed by government indoctrination programs into a positivist world view. Positivism is the root of all psychopathology. Without positivism there can be no cathexis. A sane person knows that we do not arrive at truth by making positive claims based on emotional prejudice, but by eliminating what is false. E.g. sanitizing the psyche by purging it of lies.
@sanitydotorg ah HA! But, back to the conversation I was having with myself :-p. Here really is my big point: What is the point of attempting to spread the truth you know when most people are either too stupid to understand, or too afraid of, it's implications?
Well that's a personal preference. And if you were correct in your belief that the psychopathology of all homo sapiens is terminal, then you would be wasting your time with therapy. Personally, I know from personal experience that not everyone is terminal. Some people do get better. You never know who can be cured until you try. No one said it was easy. That's why they call it The Great Work.
@sanitydotorg I agree, I wouldn't say all are terminal, but if I had to make a rough estimation I'd say 10-15% are terminal, and the remainder less 1-2% are not; that still makes 98-99% of the population essentially backwards. My point here is that there is far too much going on that is fucked for us to fight it all at once. It needs to be done piece by piece, and personally I'm fighting for 2nd amendment issues because I believe that is the ultimate fail-safe.
A lot better men than me have try to cure humanity of it's mental illness and none of them have fully succeeded. I'm happy just to be able to make an improvement within my lifetime. I'm already seeing it. People are a lot saner today than they were even a few years ago.
@sanitydotorg I agree. The cesspools (i.e. most major cities) that still exist (i.e. Boston where I'm currently living) have a long ways to go, so long that my general estimation is the fate of humanity is looking more biblical than anything else.
@sanitydotorg Here is where this whole thing went awry (on this particular thread IMO). When you start throwing around terms like mentally ill and psychopathology and nobody has the same definition and you're just convincing people NOT to listen to you, despite your intention.
Yeah. You maybe right I never said this was the best approach to therapy, just the most effective one I know. :) Drastic attacks sometimes call for drastic replies. People like the poster of this video are so far gone that they have no problem murdering and robbing people as long as it is done under the name of legalism or the majority. A swift bitch slap maybe just what they need. When the anger is replaced by what they should be feeling (ie shame) then the healing begins
@sanitydotorg True words. Personally I am doing it the best way I think I know, which is one person at a time in as an effective way as possible. Not put our own feet in each other's mouth here, but bitch slapping via youtube comments isn't my personally preferred method, but when I'm under the weather like today and can't speak, I guess it's the only hand I have to slap with lol.
@sanitydotorg And you turn around an expresses desire to murder those you disagree with and define "robbery" as taxation, which the law allows for and has always allowed for in one form or another and which the majority of the people in this country support. You expect everyone else in the country to give it all up and hand you exactly what you want as you think since that's what you want you are entitled to it. Now that's quite a mental/emotional problem right there that you have.
@sanitydotorg "here is only one ethically and economically valid answer to the question of How much government should we have? and that is none at all" Again proving your delusions. ALL societies throughout history had some form of governance. Even tribal societies. Human beings naturally form societies & states. It is you who has rejected the evidence as shown by human history. It's you who wishes to to purse some idealized fantasy as to how you believe the world should be, but never has been.
@sanitydotorg Just like the Bolsheviks they too could point to know real world examples of any society function according to their ideals, yet they were so sure it would all work out in real life just like id did on paper. It didn't. Nor would yours.
@sanitydotorg Please tell me the exact date when you were living in your stateless utopia and the United States came long, forced itself on you, began to hold you in bondage and forced you to live within its territory.
@sanitydotorg "anyone who supports the existence of any government is a thief and mass-murderer and ought to be executed immediately"
Once again I'm glad there is state that will protect the rest of society should you try to act on your murderous desires. You are an idealistic utopian uterly devoid of any real knowledge about the history of human existence. All that would likely happen if you got things your way is a real life Lord of the Flies.
hawanja, i would like to address a concern of mine.
and that is, that i dont believe the people do really have a right to vote whoever they want in.
it's becoming more and more apparent to me (especially with this years GOP candidates), that the only people who get a chance to get into the system, are the ones who are already owned by the system. while i wish to say that we democratically elect people into those positions, something tells me that no one wants any of the current GOP nominees.
@aylictal Well I agree, that no one wants any of the current GOP nominees, that is. Obama is probably going to win again. But how exactly does that translate to not allowing people to have a say in who their leaders are? Sounds a bit like chopping your arm off when you get a broken finger. Maybe we need some type of control over who gets to run for office (conflict of interest laws come to mind) but I don't agree that representative democracy should thus be abolished.
@aylictal Part of the problem here in the US is that voter turn out is so low compared to how many people are actually eligible to vote. Some of the very people who should be voting - ie. the very poor - are often some of the hardest to get out to vote. Everyone has become so cynical and adopting the attitude of "why bother." In Australia voting is mandatory, you are fined if you do not turn up to vote.
OI to hate on conspiracy theorists is to hate on the last remaining pushers for Truth and Accountability. Prefer the ignorant blissful American who ignores the mass murder of millions overseas? Or the American who puts up a sign and screams STOP THAT BULLSHIT? :) I think I know which one you'd want in your foxhole.
Libertarians are ass backwards because they don't think people should have to pay taxes involuntarily. It's the biggest load of horse shit I've ever heard.
When I meet a libertarian, I ask them, "well, those public services you use, like your roads, your sidewalks, your schools, none of those would be possible without taxes" and if no one wanted to pay taxes ... **HERES A HINT > THEY WOULDN'T**
""none of those would be possible without taxes" and if no one wanted to pay taxes ... **HERES A HINT > THEY WOULDN'T**"
Youre an idiot and mentally ill. Anything that has value people will be willing to pay for. By financing those things through armed robbery (ie taxes) you are proving that they do not have any value. That's why taxes exist: to get people to waste their money on stupid government boondoggles that they would never support if they were given a choice in a free market.
So if there were no taxes there would be no schools? I guess a fucktarded psychotic like you must have attended public school then since you are obviously so far removed from reality that you have never even heard of private school or private roads (eg. parking lots). Its funny how we don't need taxes to make cheeseburgers or t-shirts..... Oh wait people are willing to pay for those things VOLUNTARILY.
@sanitydotorg Mr. Sanitydotorg, if we abolished public schools and forced everyone to pay for private schools, what then would happen to those people who are too poor to send their children to school? Too bad for them? What about those people who could afford it, but for one reason or another just choose not to send their kids? What if they're abusive negligent assholes? Too fucking bad? I guess those children don't get to go to school then?
@hawanja These idiots can't see anything outside of their self constructed bubbles. They are like spoiled little children who stomp their feet and scream not fair when told they can't have things their way. An educated & skilled population benefits the entire country. There are millions in 3rd world shit holes who would love to live where they do. They should trade places with them. Those people would be grateful unlike these ungrateful spoiled grown up children.
LOL. He said "highly successful programs" and then showed a picture of social security and then said "essential" and showed a picture of medicare. I can't tell if this is sarcasm or psychosis, but it's definitely one or the other.
@sanitydotorg Can you tell me how it is, exactly, that Social Security isn't successful? Last time I checked, it served 55 million people, and is solvent until 2037, upon when it would still be able to pay out 80% of total payments, which could easily be solved by raising taxes on millionaires by less than 2%. So what exactly would be the criteria for it to be "successful," in your opinion? Make a profit?
Yes. That is the definition of success in an economic sense. Anything that doesn't turn a profit in VOLUNTARY EXCHANGE (e.g. the government) is a waste of resources, not to mention criminal and monstrously immoral.
SS solvent until 2037? AHAHHAHHHHAHHHAHAHAHAHAAAAHHAAAA. Not sure where you get your statistics....The department of labor perhaps? SS is bankrupt. Its completely dependent on stealing new money everyday, without which, it would collapse tomorrow
@sanitydotorg Well see my problem with that is that what you're saying is a belief. You tell say "Anything that doesn't turn a profit in VOLUNTARY EXCHANGE is a waste of resources," however the point of most government programs like Social Security is not to turn a profit, it's to provide a service. Government programs do not work on a profit motive precisely because all people must be guaranteed equal access to them. In this sense "success" is measured by efficiency vs. Number of people served
"In this sense "success" is measured by efficiency vs. Number of people served"
PART I:
That's fucking stupid, utilitarian and completely arbitrary. Youre the one with belief system. By the same standard, I could argue that SS is a complete failure because it didnt award everyone with a cheeseburger or a ride to the moon. Similarly, you could argue that it was a success because it bought one senior cat food.
@sanitydotorg This is the only time I will respond to any multipart message, going forward keep it to under 500 words or less.
Part 1 - We are not arbitrarily setting a standard, we are using the measurement of how many old, retired, and unable to work people receive benefits, how much the benefits are, & how solvent the system is. You'll notice there is no profit factored here, because profit is not mandated, providing a service is, and by this standard SS is in fact hugely successful.
"We are not arbitrarily setting a standard, we are using the measurement of how many old, retired, and unable to work people receive benefits,"
That is an arbitrary standard. It's based entirely on your own schizoid hallucinations. It's also completely utilitarian. By the same logic, I could say that the success/unsuccess of SS is based on the number of people it provides with Ferraris, bubble gum or Koala bears.
@sanitydotorg Oh sorry, did you say some other shit? Hope you didn't think too hard about it, because I didn't read it. I said to you last time, keep it under 500 words. I am not wasting three hours reading your 17 part manifesto. What is it about you libertarian fruitcakes that makes you post five hundred thousand times in a row? Learn how to sum up your stupid bullshit in the space allotted, for fuck's sake. This is not your goddamned livejournal page.
Without an objective economic measure (eg profit), all you are really talking about that SS is in line with your own brand of mental illness and personal prejudices. You might as well be arguing that Oranges are good and Apples are evil. Plus, you're failing to take into account that it is mathematically impossible for anything good to come from the state If these projects had value, the market would have done them already as profit guarantees resource maximization
@sanitydotorg Part 2) The objective economic measure here is how many people are kept off the streets because of social security. That is the "goal," not to make one person who runs the program rich, but to provide income to 55 million seniors who've paid into the system their whole lives. You must be using some kind of weird-ass alien dipshit libertarian mathematics if you can't find the positive economic benefit of keeping 55 million people from being destitute.
The state does not have a single dollar to spend that it has not stolen from someone else first. Also, when the state makes purchases, it diverts those resources away from their optimal market use as well. Thus, for every dollar the state spends, it actually destroys two dollars: 1. When it steals the $. 2. On the resources that were diverted away from productive use when it spends the $. See Private Product Remaining.
@sanitydotorg Part 3) Bullshit, taxes are not "thievery." Your elected reps levy taxes, and the people vote to have programs like Social Security. Secondly, if the "free market" were so good at providing such things as income & benefits for old people, then where the hell is the private competition to SS? Or could it be (gasp!) it's just not that profitable? Bullshit- if the free market could do it, we'd have it already. The rest is idiotic free market dogma that has no basis in fucking reality
@sanitydotorg Bottom line: You live in the US (by choice, you aren't held here by force). In the US the constitution, not your opinion, is the supreme law of the land and it allows for taxation. So you are shit out of luck. There are millions living in 3rd world shit holes who would love to live where you do & would be grateful. You should trade places w/ one of them. Then you can learn something of true oppresion. Your mindset is no different than that of a spoiled child.
@sanitydotorg It's not thievery when you are represented, and can vote on how they're collected, who is taxed, who isn't, how much it is, or even to repeal them. Can you vote to repeal thievery? No, because taxes and thievery are not the same fucking thing. You don't like taxes, then vote in someone to repeal those taxes. But don't be giving me this "taxes are thievery" bullshit. You idiots always bring this shit up, do you wonder why it's so easy to defeat? Because it makes zero fucking sense.
@hawanja I just cut to the chase & boil it down in simple terms for these idiots. The const. is the supreme law of the land, not their opinion, & it allows for taxation. They are deluded day dreamers w/ no idea of how societies function & have always functioned. I concern myself w/ the realities & practicalities of the world. In one of his comments he advocated mass murder of his ideological opponets. I'm happy there's a state that will protect society from him if he ever acts on that.
sanitydotorg continues to maintain a $25K prize for anyone who can provide any justification for the existence of government that is not mentally ill. We also have a $50K Justice Prize for anyone who can provide a logical proof that statists deserve something other than to be beaten to death immediately and burn in hell for all eternity like the like the thieves murderers that they are.
@sanitydotorg Now that makes me happy that their is a state, the fact that wannabe homicidial maniacs such as yourself want to kill anyone who disagrees with you. You're aren't forced by anyone to live where you do. You are fee to leave at any time. You whine about "force" yet would happily use force to force others to live in your view of how things should be. States arose from the need for mutual security & the mutual good. Can you point to a single succesful stateless society?
"then where the hell is the private competition to SS?"
Wow you are a FUCKING UNHINGED PSYCHOTIC IN ADDITION TO BEING A COMPLETELY FUCKTARDED SOCIOPATH. Really? I Ever hear of a DB or DC plan? How about gold, silver or a retirement account? No.... I guess you are right. There is no such thing as private savings, private savings accounts, investment or capital accumulation.
@sanitydotorg You know, it emails me when you post something. It's called "spellcheck." Anyway Social Security isn't just a retirement account. It also provides unemployment benefits, disability, health insurance for children, temporary assistance for needy families, and more. So I am asking, of those free-market alternatives you mentioned, which one does all of this for 55 million people, and is solvent until 2037?
Or could it be, that providing such services isn't really that profitable?
Again, stealing money from a productive minority in order to give it to an unproductive majority is not a "service." It is an act of terrorism. You might recognize that if you had any sense of morality, empathy, economics, ethics or even the English language. You are mentally ill.
@sanitydotorg You are the mental case. You should discuss your persecution complex with a psychiatrist. Are you the arbitor of what is moral or not? Your opinion isn't the law, so you are out of luck. Unproductive majority? What nonsense. It's the hardworking ordinary people who keep a country & economy going. Those who spend and consume and do the gritty work. You are a lunatic who has no idea how societies function.
@sanitydotorg You are like every other utopian idealist. You can point to no single historical example of any society functioning as you say it should yet are oh so sure your ideas would work in the real world as you say they would, just as the Bolsheviks thought their ideas would work out in the real world just like they did in theory on paper. Jut like Pol Pot thought he could create a perfect society by killing those he believed needed to be removed to create it. You're a loon.
"historical example of any society functioning as you say it should"
Uhhh, actually jackass, every society functions on freedom. "Society" is just another word for the free market, and it's only through freedom that anyone can live at all. The only reason you can even spew your psychotic anti-social nonsense is because no one has put a bullet in your cock sucking skull yet. It's called the non-aggression axiom. Look it up sometime you piece of shit.
@sanitydotorg 1/2 There's never been any free market as you people describe it. You are the loon who can't even have a rational conversation. Your persecution complex doesn't allow you to. All you do is respond w/ hysteria & vulgarity. Just like every fanatic, you think you have a universal truth and all who disagree are your mortal enemy. Only difference between you and an religious fanatic are you ideologies.
@sanitydotorg 2/2 Everything in life is backed up w/ the threat of force. Including your rights. Someone intrudes on your rights the state you hate so much will use force if needed to protect your rights. Societies work collectively to determine what type of society they want and the state and it's gov are the representatives of that society (in those where people can choose who represents them). Being an adult means realizing you don't get your way all the time on every issue.
@sanitydotorg Again, it's not stealing when you have consent. Taxation for Social Security enjoys broad support from an overwhelming majority of the population. It's only you idiotic stingy-ass bottomfeeding douchebags that think taxation is "thievery." You don't like it, feel free to vote someone in to revise the tax code. In the meantime this is the supreme law of the land, and if you don't like it then you can get the fuck out.
"and if you don't like it then you can get the fuck out."
Again, the "Love it or Leave it" fallacy is Stage 6 schizophrenia and the mark of a true sociopath. I suppose also that if people don't want to get shot then they should just dodge the bullets. You're such a piece of shit and a cock sucking coward. How do you live with yourself? You hide behind your youtube account just like you cower behind a voting booth.
@sanitydotorg LOL You call people voting to make their voices heard and give their input as to what type of society they want and want polices they support cowardly yet you advocate killing those you disagree with in order to force people to live how you think everyone should live (you want to determine that rather group consense determining that). You do realize the internet was developed from a gov project? That's theft according to you, please cancel your internet service.
"You do realize the internet was developed from a gov project?"
No it wasn't. The internet was invented by Compuserve in Columbus OH in 1969. SGML was invented by IBM, and ethernet was invented by a joint venture between Xerox, Intel and DEC at PARC. IP wasn't even invented until 1974, and it was only standardized in 1982. Once again, thanks for playing on "You're the world's most fucktarded fucktard."
@sanitydotorg You are an idiot. ARPANET - the forerunner of the internet - was funded by DARPA - a gov agency. Just like the good little fanatic you are reality and history mean nothing. Both must be twisted to fit your fucked up ideology. Such a spoiled little brat you are too stupid to realize that you wouldn't have shit if it were for blind luck, you could have as well been born in some 3rd world country. And like all fanatics those who don't agree w/ your vision you seen to destroy.
@sanitydotorg I doubt you even have much of a job or have achieved much of anything in your life. And of course your great arrogance doesn't allow you to blame yourself for any of your own fallings. It's the fault of everyone and everything else. You can't even rationally debate or exchange ideas with any one. Anyone differs in their opinion you can't deal with it, they must agree with you. Classic fanaticism.
@sanitydotorg BTW forgot to mention that compuserve first offered email services in 1980, your claim about them inventing the internet in 1969 is false. All of compuserve's innovations came after ARPANET (gov funded) and was based on ARPA's research. Once again proving your fanaticism - if reality doesn't fit the dogma, then reality must be twisted so that it does fit. Your dogma is what is most important to you and it must always be correct - even if that means misrepresenting the truth.
@sanitydotorg I'm a sociopath? You're the one who said "anyone who supports the existence of any government is a thief and mass-murderer and ought to be executed immediately," you bottomfeeding hypocritical sack of shit. I'm sick of you fucking douchebags spewing your idiotic bile then turning around and trying to claim the moral high ground. You don't like what the constitution says? Then you and the rest of the stingy backwards-ass buckets of sandy goat vaginas can get the fuck out
@hawanja I found a couple of other videos he commented on. In one he says that anyone who believes in global warming is a stupid communist. I guess he knows more than most of the worlds climatologists. In another he says that anyone who prefers Mac OS or Windows over linux is mentally ill and stupid. So that is his basic war cry: if you don't agree with me on everything then you are evil and stupid. Regardless, I'm going to carry on using my Mac.
Government, by their own definition of the term is murder. The murderer is the sociopath. The person who says that murderers like you have no right to live is not a sociopath. They are merely stating an ethical fact. Even if they killed you right now, they would still not be a murderer or a sociopath as anyone who kills a statist always has a legitimate claim to both Justice and self-defense.
DMAN123223 7 hours ago
@DMAN123223 Where then exactly are the libertarian voices speaking out against these things? I seem to remember a bunch of rightwingers and libertarians coming out to protest a few years ago, but when they came to protest, it was against taxes and "big government," i.e. entitlement programs. They didn't seem to care about war, or civil liberties, or the TSA.
I see plenty of liberals out there in the Occupy movement protesting these things. Why are not the Libertarians doing the same?
hawanja 1 hour ago
@hawanja I think it's funny how libertarians like to hold Hong Kong up as some kind of shinning example of their economic model in action. They do this with little to no regard for the fact that Hong Kong has extensive govt housing projects and utilities.
Activeassholeonpills 58 minutes ago
@DMAN123223 "As for the "real world" argument, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia New Zealand and Switzerland all have free market economies."
Actually, they aren't 'free market' economies in the Austrian Economics/right-leaning libertarian sense. They are more accurately referred to as mixed economies. New Zealand however had it's brush with neoliberal Reaganomics in the 1970s and it ransacked their economy. Even today they are still unable to catch up to their neighbor Australia because of this
Activeassholeonpills 1 hour ago
Libertarians have always struck me as half liberal/half conservative. When it comes to social issues like abortion, gay marriage, pornography, etc...they're liberal. When it comes to fiscal issues like taxation, public welfare programs, finance, etc...they're conservative. In other words, libertarians just want you to let them be.
LatinRiteChristian 11 hours ago
@LatinRiteChristian Libertarians complain about statist coercion, but they have no compunctions about forcing their "Ununited Non-States of America" onto the rest of us. Jefferson might of been for small gov't but was also for public schools and anti-monopoly laws.
Provide for the common defense and promote the general welfare are general clauses for good reason, and we are in no way perpetually constrained to this recently-fabricated tiny list of gov't powers.
shadownor 10 minutes ago
"Nor do they apply it to military spending"
The constitution didn't permit a military?
"When did the founding fathers intend for us to have naked body airport scanners"
Libertarians advocate for this?
"If someone robs you, you don't get a say in how much or how it's spent"
If you, a bystander, and I vote to spend a certain amount of money on something, and then use force or the threat there of to get the money and spend it, it isn't robbery?
didles123 1 day ago
@didles123 Libertarians vote Republican, do they not? That's where the naked body scanners came from.
And nope, it's not "robbery," if I also vote to spend that money on something. But even if I don't, if I live in that community and the community votes for it, even if I choose to not take part, the community still has a right to collect said tax, and it would still not be "robbery." Hey, when you get Jury Duty is the state "robbing" you of your time?

Libertarians delude themselves that they are self-made and are not reliant on, nor have a responsibility to, society. They are leeches on the commons and are sociopaths. Worshiping the Free Market and John Gault gives them a pose of legitimacy to a mindset that is no further developed then a child's selfishness. Libertarians can only be that way, because a) they only talk the talk and b) most of the rest of us think that it is a jerky mindset. If everyone was a Libertarian, it would be Chaos.

Society isn't obliged to give you anything just b/c you want it.
njanovic1980 3 weeks ago

You're the one who who goes crying to Big Daddy government to terrorize your neighbors into buying things for you that you refuse to pay for yourself.
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg You don't know anything about my life. Yep I prefer we all contribute to pay for those things like roads, police & emergency services. Just like the majority of the people in this country do. You are too idiotic to realize if you had to pay for those individually out of pocket rather than collectively via taxes they would be prohibitively expensive for most. That's what the majority want so you are shit out of luck. Move to somalia, no effective gov there.
njanovic1980 3 weeks ago
@njanovic1980
You're a psychotic and a sociopath.
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg1/2 Every one is required to contribute b/c all use and benefit from them. Go read up on the free rider problem. If you think people will just pay voluntarily you are insane, people will always try to get something for nothing and your lala land day dream fantasy world would soon collapse. Go read up on the Articles of Confederation when the fed gov had no power to levy taxes. That voluntary thing didn't work out.
njanovic1980 3 weeks ago
@njanovic1980 This is true, but you know why? Because the Articles of Confederation were written along the lines of alliance construction rather than annexation; leaving that little itty bitty part about money out of it became a huge issue for the states after having just fought an 8 year war, not to mention all the help from France which we owed them for...
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda The A of C left the federal gov unable to pay those debts. Thanks for the politeness by the way. If any one here has any mental health issues I think it's sanitydotorg. I'd never suggest those who disagree with me should be murdered, where as he seems quite enthusiastic over the idea of mass murder. All of the worlds great utopians thought if they just removed certain groups from society they could create a perfect society. All that gave the world was Pol Pot & other such types.
njanovic1980 2 weeks ago
@njanovic1980 Yes and no. In effect, the government was unable to pay them, but really they were more or less illegal from the beginning (this is a stretch, I know). It's kind of like looking at something that says 2 = 4, just that it's missing the "2 +..." from it.
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda The federal gov had no power to levy taxes, could only request funds from the states - which they ignored when those request were made. The legislature could make decisions but had no power to enforce those decisions. It was a mess, didn't work out. Unlike this sanitydotorg guy I concern myself w/ the realities of the world & practical ways of dealing w/ them, not with idealized visions of how I think the world should be.
njanovic1980 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg 2/2 You are sociopatchic psychotic. Thinking your wants are so great an entire society should just abolish the system it's chosen in order to make you happy. A person ranting about wanting to kill those who disagree with them has no business calling anyone else pshychotic or sociopathic. The majority wish to live in a state, tough shit for you, you're out of luck here. You want a stateless utopia you need to go find it for yourself.
njanovic1980 3 weeks ago
@njanovic1980
"wanting to kill"
Saying that any person who supports the existence of government ought to be executed immediately is not expressing a desire. It is a statement of FACT. The state routinely executes people for conspiracy to commit homicide, but the state itself is a conspiracy to commit homicide. Ergo, by their own standards, anyone who supports the existence of government deserves to die. That's called Justice: treating people as they treat others.
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg hey man, you need to shut the fuck up. You're not helping anything. Anybody can prove anything about anything (and thus, everything about everything -- haha, schroedinger's cat) using existentialism like that. I am a libertarian, and you and others like you are the reason why I know it will never work; it's not because it's fundamentally flawed, it's because dumbshits like you would have too much freedom and would fuck everything up even faster.
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
Well then you are mentally ill as well. There is only one ethically and economically valid answer to the question of "How much government should we have?" and that is none at all.
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Do you even know the definition of mental illness? It's synonymous with psychological disorder, which states that deviation from an accepted norm constitutes a psychological disorder. By that definition (which is the true definition, if we're speaking American English here), YOU are mentally ill. So, like I said, get away from all your existential bullshit and try having a real conversation. But hey, if you want to, I'll do the existential thing with you all day long.
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
If you're less sane than Plato, then you really have problems.
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg I also know what misdirection is, and ineptness; you're doing the first or you're the second
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
ahhh... argumentum ad hominem another logical fallacy
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg lol the first then. I'll address it then. You were the one who said that I was the one who was mentally ill. I simply pointed out that by the definition of mental illness that you were the one who was mentally ill, and that you can either continue to digress from reality in these conversations or you can change your language.
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
"digress from reality in these conversations or you can change your language."
You're the one who is digressing from reality by claiming that the state is something other than mass psychopathology. Calling the state and it's supporters mentally ill is not an ad hominem, as it is not attempting to make an argument, but rather to make a statement of fact.
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Lol we're just doing a big loop now. Answer me this, then: What is your definition of mental illness?
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
well, see now there you have, an immediate problem. I'm not psychotic, so unlike the APA, I don't start off by defining mental illness, meanwhile being completely unable to define mental health. When you don't start off from axiomatic principles, it's no wonder that their definition of mental illness is really nothing more than an arbitrary popularity contest.
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Go on....
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
1/2
First of all, sanity is a process, not some end state of affairs. How do you know your sane? By definition, a delusion is something you are unaware is false. Claiming you are 100% sane is analogous to claiming we will never make any new scientific discoveries because we know everything already.

@saifoda
2/2
Sanity is the process of sanitizing your psyche of delusions and hallucinations, whereby we arrive at higher orders of truth. E.g. in 2003 89% of Americans thought there were WMDs (a term that isn't even objectively definable) in Iraq. That was mass-psychosis. Thankfully, most of them have recovered, at least from that delusion, but if you were to critically examine the beliefs of most people you would find that almost nothing they believe is true.
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
E.g. sanitizing the psyche by purging it of lies.
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg ah HA! But, back to the conversation I was having with myself :-p. Here really is my big point: What is the point of attempting to spread the truth you know when most people are either too stupid to understand, or too afraid of, it's implications?
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
That's why they call it The Great Work.
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg I agree, I wouldn't say all are terminal, but if I had to make a rough estimation I'd say 10-15% are terminal, and the remainder less 1-2% are not; that still makes 98-99% of the population essentially backwards. My point here is that there is far too much going on that is fucked for us to fight it all at once. It needs to be done piece by piece, and personally I'm fighting for 2nd amendment issues because I believe that is the ultimate fail-safe.
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
A lot better men than me have try to cure humanity of it's mental illness and none of them have fully succeeded. I'm happy just to be able to make an improvement within my lifetime. I'm already seeing it. People are a lot saner today than they were even a few years ago.
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg I agree. The cesspools (i.e. most major cities) that still exist (i.e. Boston where I'm currently living) have a long ways to go, so long that my general estimation is the fate of humanity is looking more biblical than anything else.
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Here is where this whole thing went awry (on this particular thread IMO). When you start throwing around terms like mentally ill and psychopathology and nobody has the same definition and you're just convincing people NOT to listen to you, despite your intention.
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@saifoda
When the anger is replaced by what they should be feeling (ie shame) then the healing begins
sanitydotorg 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg True words. Personally I am doing it the best way I think I know, which is one person at a time in as an effective way as possible. Not put our own feet in each other's mouth here, but bitch slapping via youtube comments isn't my personally preferred method, but when I'm under the weather like today and can't speak, I guess it's the only hand I have to slap with lol.
saifoda 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg And you turn around an expresses desire to murder those you disagree with and define "robbery" as taxation, which the law allows for and has always allowed for in one form or another and which the majority of the people in this country support. You expect everyone else in the country to give it all up and hand you exactly what you want as you think since that's what you want you are entitled to it. Now that's quite a mental/emotional problem right there that you have.
njanovic1980 2 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg "here is only one ethically and economically valid answer to the question of How much government should we have? and that is none at all" Again proving your delusions. ALL societies throughout history had some form of governance. Even tribal societies. Human beings naturally form societies & states. It is you who has rejected the evidence as shown by human history. It's you who wishes to to purse some idealized fantasy as to how you believe the world should be, but never has been.

hawanja, i would like to address a concern of mine.
and that is, that i dont believe the people do really have a right to vote whoever they want in.
it's becoming more and more apparent to me (especially with this years GOP candidates), that the only people who get a chance to get into the system, are the ones who are already owned by the system. while i wish to say that we democratically elect people into those positions, something tells me that no one wants any of the current GOP nominees.
aylictal 3 weeks ago
@aylictal Well I agree, that no one wants any of the current GOP nominees, that is. Obama is probably going to win again. But how exactly does that translate to not allowing people to have a say in who their leaders are? Sounds a bit like chopping your arm off when you get a broken finger. Maybe we need some type of control over who gets to run for office (conflict of interest laws come to mind) but I don't agree that representative democracy should thus be abolished.
hawanja 3 weeks ago
@aylictal Part of the problem here in the US is that voter turn out is so low compared to how many people are actually eligible to vote. Some of the very people who should be voting - ie. the very poor - are often some of the hardest to get out to vote. Everyone has become so cynical and adopting the attitude of "why bother." In Australia voting is mandatory, you are fined if you do not turn up to vote.

Libertarians are ass backwards because they don't think people should have to pay taxes involuntarily. It's the biggest load of horse shit I've ever heard.

That's why taxes exist: to get people to waste their money on stupid government boondoggles that they would never support if they were given a choice in a free market.
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg
Just because something has value, does NOT mean people are willing to pay for it.
You think anyone is going to want to teach if they're not getting paid?
You think anyone is going to want to try to police anything, if they're not getting paid?
You think any sort of road system would be constructed, if no one was willing to pay anything?
You're living in lala land sir. I suggest if you don't wish to have involuntary taxes, try Somalia, or Liberia.
aylictal 3 weeks ago
@aylictal
Oh wait people are willing to pay for those things VOLUNTARILY.
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Mr. Sanitydotorg, if we abolished public schools and forced everyone to pay for private schools, what then would happen to those people who are too poor to send their children to school? Too bad for them? What about those people who could afford it, but for one reason or another just choose not to send their kids? What if they're abusive negligent assholes? Too fucking bad? I guess those children don't get to go to school then?
Seriously, what's your answer to this?

LOL. He said "highly successful programs" and then showed a picture of social security and then said "essential" and showed a picture of medicare. I can't tell if this is sarcasm or psychosis, but it's definitely one or the other.
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Can you tell me how it is, exactly, that Social Security isn't successful? Last time I checked, it served 55 million people, and is solvent until 2037, upon when it would still be able to pay out 80% of total payments, which could easily be solved by raising taxes on millionaires by less than 2%. So what exactly would be the criteria for it to be "successful," in your opinion? Make a profit?
hawanja 3 weeks ago
@hawanja
"Make a profit?"
Its completely dependent on stealing new money everyday, without which, it would collapse tomorrow
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Well see my problem with that is that what you're saying is a belief. You tell say "Anything that doesn't turn a profit in VOLUNTARY EXCHANGE is a waste of resources," however the point of most government programs like Social Security is not to turn a profit, it's to provide a service. Government programs do not work on a profit motive precisely because all people must be guaranteed equal access to them. In this sense "success" is measured by efficiency vs. Number of people served
hawanja 3 weeks ago
@hawanja
Similarly, you could argue that it was a success because it bought one senior cat food.
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg This is the only time I will respond to any multipart message, going forward keep it to under 500 words or less.
Part 1 - We are not arbitrarily setting a standard, we are using the measurement of how many old, retired, and unable to work people receive benefits, how much the benefits are, & how solvent the system is. You'll notice there is no profit factored here, because profit is not mandated, providing a service is, and by this standard SS is in fact hugely successful.
hawanja 3 weeks ago
@hawanja
"We are not arbitrarily setting a standard, we are using the measurement of how many old, retired, and unable to work people receive benefits,"
That is an arbitrary standard. It's based entirely on your own schizoid hallucinations. It's also completely utilitarian. By the same logic, I could say that the success/unsuccess of SS is based on the number of people it provides with Ferraris, bubble gum or Koala bears.
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Oh sorry, did you say some other shit? Hope you didn't think too hard about it, because I didn't read it. I said to you last time, keep it under 500 words. I am not wasting three hours reading your 17 part manifesto. What is it about you libertarian fruitcakes that makes you post five hundred thousand times in a row? Learn how to sum up your stupid bullshit in the space allotted, for fuck's sake. This is not your goddamned livejournal page.
hawanja 3 weeks ago
@hawanja
PART II:
Without an objective economic measure (eg profit), all you are really talking about that SS is in line with your own brand of mental illness and personal prejudices. You might as well be arguing that Oranges are good and Apples are evil. Plus, you're failing to take into account that it is mathematically impossible for anything good to come from the state If these projects had value, the market would have done them already as profit guarantees resource maximization
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Part 2) The objective economic measure here is how many people are kept off the streets because of social security. That is the "goal," not to make one person who runs the program rich, but to provide income to 55 million seniors who've paid into the system their whole lives. You must be using some kind of weird-ass alien dipshit libertarian mathematics if you can't find the positive economic benefit of keeping 55 million people from being destitute.
hawanja 3 weeks ago
@hawanja
PART III:
The state does not have a single dollar to spend that it has not stolen from someone else first. Also, when the state makes purchases, it diverts those resources away from their optimal market use as well. Thus, for every dollar the state spends, it actually destroys two dollars: 1. When it steals the $. 2. On the resources that were diverted away from productive use when it spends the $. See Private Product Remaining.
sanitydotorg 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg Part 3) Bullshit, taxes are not "thievery." Your elected reps levy taxes, and the people vote to have programs like Social Security. Secondly, if the "free market" were so good at providing such things as income & benefits for old people, then where the hell is the private competition to SS? Or could it be (gasp!) it's just not that profitable? Bullshit- if the free market could do it, we'd have it already. The rest is idiotic free market dogma that has no basis in fucking reality

Then you can learn something of true oppresion. Your mindset is no different than that of a spoiled child.
njanovic1980 3 weeks ago
@sanitydotorg It's not thievery when you are represented, and can vote on how they're collected, who is taxed, who isn't, how much it is, or even to repeal them. Can you vote to repeal thievery? You idiots always bring this shit up, do you wonder why it's so easy to defeat? Because it makes zero fucking sense.

Or could it be, that providing such services isn't really that profitable?

@sanitydotorg 2/2 Everything in life is backed up w/ the threat of force. Including your rights. Being an adult means realizing you don't get your way all the time on every issue.

Classic fanaticism.
njanovic1980 3 weeks ago

Then you and the rest of the stingy backwards-ass buckets of sandy goat vaginas can get the fuck out
FUCK YOU

@hawanja I found a couple of other videos he commented on. In one he says that anyone who believes in global warming is a stupid communist. I guess he knows more than most of the worlds climatologists. In another he says that anyone who prefers Mac OS or Windows over linux is mentally ill and stupid. So that is his basic war cry: if you don't agree with me on everything then you are evil and stupid. Regardless, I'm going to carry on using my Mac.

@njanovic1980 Yeah this guy is the worst kind of hypocrite, let me know when you get your video up. I'm thinking I might do one myself, maybe.
