i played this game in march 2010... that was a while ago so i bet it was a very old patch. I havent played napoleon in almost a year so i wouldn't know if the Emperor's Own have actually been taken out of the game

Russian Musketeers have 35 range.. while the average line infantry is 40-50.Russian bayonets are the best, Horrible on flat land but all conquering in forests where they can make use of melee.

I have started using your flank tactic. Works well accept when its more than 1vs1.

The answer to your question, I think Napoleon would win, because of the he always attacks first, and always seems to outmaneuver his enemies. He is very quick to arrive at the battle field, and lay a trap to his enemies.

i used to play naval battles back in Empire Total War but its too difficult to find a game and most people cheat or are absolutely terrible at the naval part of the game. AI navals are alot funner in my opinion

EPIC!!! For your question, considering that Napoleon is an extremely versatile general, I'd say Suvorov is gonna be in a lot of trouble. Suvorov might not be able to pull it off.

For a realistic approach, I'd say you have to fight Prince of Macedon to find out...

I do not know much about the elite units but:

As far as I know Prussia had the best field skirmishers at that time but Austria had the best mountain skirmishers.

The most intersting fact is that Austria had a kind of "Militia Mountain Skirmishers" called the "Tiroler Schuetzen".

About Austrian milita:

One of my great-great-great......grandfa­thers fought against the allied Bavarian and French troups. He was slightly wounded but he survived. The fight took place 4 kilometers west of my town. My father told me that the Austrian troups won but he does not know exactly. Any way they were feared men but they fought poorly in line formations.

Many battles were fought in this manner:

1. The Austrian army takes a deploys on a hill.

2. They take cover and fire their guns.

3. When they run out of ammunition or when the enemy comes up the hill they charge with every weapon they can get. They were sometimes only armed with pikes.

Austrian? Interesting... What do you think of the Austrian faction? I personally think it should've been a lot stronger. The lack of elite units or decent skirmishers is pretty annoying considering the Austrian army was one of the finest in Europe during the Napoleonic wars.

I have just finished watching all your commentaries and so far they are fantastic! The tactical in-sight and advice is excellent, love the addition of dramatic music, and it is good to see that there are players who believe in taking the initiative :).

If I may however point out what would be that little extra, it would be the addition of some historical facts about for ex the units, the battle ground, generals, etc.

If you count the number of units i had.. i had exactly 20. A huge army. I had to have some cheap units. The whole point was to overwhelm my opponent with numbers. More men means its easier to outflank and out-maneuver.

As for the spreading of my units... How do u expect me to spread out my units into thin lines if they're running through such a cramped bottleneck? I wanted to get my entire army through the bottleneck as soon as possible. Hence the tight formations.

Try playing a singleplayer battle. If you have lag giving orders its definitely your computer. If you have no lag in singleplayer then you probably have a slow internet connection and that's why you lag online. Try bringing down your graphics when you play online that usually helps a bit.

As usual, aggression and initiative wins the day, although he was at least prepared to make small movements rather than just freeze up.

Who'd win out of Naploeon and Suvorov? Suvorov was a mad genius on the battlefield, Napoleon's real strengths lay off it. I'd have to go with the Russian wizard.

Suvorov was also probably one of the most hardcore drill masters that ever lived; he made his men ridiculously fit and ridiculously disciplined. Napoleon was a fox. His espionage and cunning won him the battles. On flat terrain with no natural obstacles to exploit tactically, I think Suvorov and his iron men would win. Had they ever faced each other during Napoleon's Italian or Russian campaigns, the Frenchman might've got the best of the Russian. Too bad we'll never know :)

I was awaiting this video for quite a bit. That, and Prince of Macedon's next Naval battle in N:TW and Europa Universalis videos, and Knubb's Europa Barbarorum videos... Pretty much every strategic Europe-based game I'm interested in as of now.

Also, interesting point about the advancing early. You gain the advantage of not needing to face the bottleneck, and the only penalty is some damage from the Unicorns.
