Sounds good, but why we don't have "Open oil", or "Open money/economics", or open "Auto industry", or "open food" ? The answer is because they are not geek oil owners or geek economist... Idea is great, but open source just killing prize of programming and software engineering work.

Rambling filthy hippy. And he actually has the gall to talk later about software bloat? Uhm, how is that 800MB text editor (emacs) coming along, Richard?
emacs is not just a text editor. It's a 'feature rich' text editor which is there IF YOU WANT IT. and I don't think it's 800mb either.
If you want a small GNU text editor, use nano...
Anyway, even IF his actions somehow contradicted his ideas as you seem to imply, that doesn't make his ideas less valuable. Neither does the fact he is a 'hippy' or 'rambles'.
Though I'm sure telling you this is like talking to a rock. But I feel I need to anyway, based on principal.
Hard as it is to understand this for some people; this guy has a great truth with him. The 'concept' of free software is a really huge achievement for mankind. Now we need to use it!
I'd like to have Richard Talk about SOPA and PIPA to the US Government and break them down.

Emacs on its own is about 8MiB. There's just a lot of emacs lisp programs that are distributed with it which you don't have to use.
