  • men better be fucking grateful for all the pain we go through to look beautiful...just sayin

  • all i can say is this shit hurts (i'm a guy)

i was dared to do it on my mustache.. i started bleeding -_-

  • I just epilated for the first time last week and your experience was almost identical to mine, lol. I also am one of those people that have never waxed/tweezed any part of my body so it was a -really- strange experience for me...and PAINFUL. Oddly enough though, I did both my legs and my underams and my legs actually hurt significantly worse. Weird. You're so right though, it was worth it! I love that thing. Great video! Thanks for shaing :)

  • I get it done at a salon. My husband tried doing it for me the first time YEARS AGO and it was a disaster!! :0/ Funny to look back on now, but it was NOT FUN then! haha! :0)

  • When I was a teenager, the very first spring coil electric "Epilady" came out and I thought I HAD to have it! It hurt like hell! I love waxing...the results are great...they last a long time, the skin is baby soft and it is done so quickly! Trust me, I even get FULL bikini waxing (front to back). Try it girlfriend...don't torture yourself any longer! You can always do Laser Hair Removal too...at least the torture will be permanent :0) Good luck!

  • @kinkybear007 do you wax yourself or do you get it done at a salon or something?

  • Would it help to use ice on the area to numb it before epilating?

  • omg it doesnt even hurt when i tweeze my underarms.. at all. i find it hard 2 believe when people say it really relaly hurts. cuz i dont feel a thing

  • would waxing be better because its quicker? im scared of using my epilator

  • My mum bought me one for christmas. I tried it on a small section of my leg and gave up. HURTS SO MUCH!!!

  • I just got my 20 yr old daughter the 72 tweezer Emjoy for Christmas, I used it as a mom with almost no issues since I knew what to expect. MY DD how ever OMG was freaking out screaming at just the sound it made! LOL.. I told her it feels like a tattoo getting done in some areas where there is a lotta hair, though I never had a tattoo, I had someone tell me once it feels like a pin sticking in your skin with each poke.. she freaked evern MORE, She finally did it and all was OK! SHE WILL BE HAPPY

  • I love how honest you are about this!! Its really helpful!

  • I watched alot of videos and reviews on this product I am convinced that I need to buy this I have issues with underarm hair too, you know it grows in all different directions and its almost impossible to wax under your arms. Thanks for the review I have to try this.

  • can you buy this is australia ?

  • @mirandaandelise try big w, kmart, target, and look in the beauty sections? im from aussie too and i have an older version and dont remember when its from, its probably form 1 of the 3

  • Hey! whats the difference between the blue one and the purple you have now?? I saw on ebay

  • Xteeener , does it sell on singapore ??

  • @aiaidumb you can purchase a similar one at Harvey Norman! i got mine there. <3

  • @anputry Seriously ? Which harvey norman ?

  • does anyone have the Emjoi Emagine one? Wondering if it's worth it, seeing as it has 72 tweezers compared to the usual 36 or 42 or whatever...

  • Xteeener, does this work for course hair on upper lip? :(

  • Hahaaa yah I almost cried when I used it for the first time that was like 3 years ago though :)

  • i wasn't listening to you, i was just staring at your pretty face...

  • Yay! I totally went back to the epilator! the last time I used one was in early 2000's when I was in Highschool. Oh man did it hurt like b-word! Now it's a little more tolerable! Love it:)

  • i felt like i got lightly electrocuted when i use it on my legs and arms. LOL! but it's not that bad. XD very intimidating when i first turn it on though

  • I love how fresh and awake you look :)

  • I understand the pain of having dark underarms, and I am totally gonna get one of these and I'll just have to bite the bullet and oversee the pain :S

  • where did you get the epilator for your upper lip?

  • I just had my first session of underarm laser hair removal about 3 weeks ago. At first I was a bit scared, but I thought it would be nice if I don't have to shave or pluck my uderarm hair almost evreyday, so I just decided to go on with the procedure. It did hurt a bit, then itchy for the first 3 days but I was quite happy of the result. I only had my first session but the hair doesn't grow as fast as before. My under arms stay smooth for almost a week! I stil have 3 more sessions coming up...

  • Thanks for this video! I waxed my underarms once a long time ago, and it really did hurt and bled a little too. Until I saw this I thought I had damaged myself or something, so I never did it again. But now I think maybe it would be worth trying it again if it is normal for it to go that way.

  • i like how she said "and often times...it will bleed." and then creepy door squeak.

  • I really appreciate you putting this video up. I have the same problem, and now, I'm considering actually buying an epilator :)

  • how did you get it for $55 on Amazon?? I can only find it for $80 :[

  • @raeshmae I found it for $53 (plus tax it's probably $55 or a bit more with shipping) but youtube won't let me post the link :(

  • @surfingpookie thanks :] yeah i saw that one, and everyday i check on it, it gets a little more expensive! the picture is a pink one, but it's purple right? and it comes with the whole kit?

  • look up "SOFT CARESS EPILATOR" and it should be the first result!

  • i hate that raw feeling a lot. and im a guy. lol

  • My first experience with the epilator was pretty much like yours,it took me a lot of time to do both armpits, I had to stop many times because it hurt really badly, there was some bleeding. But now, after months of using it I must say I'm really happy that I bought it ! Now it only takes me like five minutes on each armpit, and the pain is much more tolerant,it almost doesn't hurt ! I would definatly recommend it :)

  • it bleeds?! D: so scaryy ,,

  • Please, please, please try ONCE to pronounce it right. There's no U in the word Epilator...

  • I have the same problem and would love to try one of those at. I think I will definitely buy one. :)

  • I was trying my epilator today on my lip for the first time and it was not pleasant. It bled and everything x_x I hope i get used to it!!

  • @kellyalexandrashow it bled ?? x_x im scared now

  • Comment removed

  • area like your legs.

  • Hey there,

thank you for being so brave and trying the epilation experience and vlogging about it! Now I was brave enough to get one of my own.

I did my legs a week ago and was so happy! Now I had enough courage to try my armpits. I have to tell you cooling them with a pad before epilating helps so much with the pain!

I would really love to have a following up review how you feel about it now! Did you have problems with ingrown hair? Does it hurt less? Thank you for your great videos!!!!!!

  • I got the same one from Folica. Anyways, I feel that it's worth the investment and the pain because it produces good results. Emjoi Soft Caress wasn't my first epilator experience tho cause I've tried one before (I don't remember the brand but it's from Japan so I didn't even think that they would have one here in the US) so I was quite prepared for the pain. It hurts a lot at first but I find that putting it on the highest setting lessens the pain. Also, it is something you get used to.

  • I love my epilator. Even though it hurts at first.

I have been using it for over 3 years now and I have never gone back to using a razor, unless I forgot to bring my epilator with me on trips. My hair grow back without the crazy itchy feeling and the more you epilate, the thinner the hair gets and the fewer hair grow back. I use it on my underarms, legs and sometimes in the bikini area if I feel particularly brave that day.

Thank you for sharing, always enjoy watching your tutorials.

  • can u give us the website?

  • can you do another review now that its been a while.

  • very helpful!! now im ready to get one of my own:p

    thanks:)

  • same here!! :P I can totally relate

  • awesome video! I have the same problem and thought about trying it too, but get scared for the comments about how painful is...:P

  • Wow what a good looking woman.

  • it's been over a month, please can you do a full review! THANKS!!

  • It hurt a ton the first time I used an epilator too, but since the hair doesn't all grow back at once the next time I used it it was much easier! I am Asian too and had the same problem as you, where the dark roots would make my armpits look stubbly even when the hair was too short to shave. This method is so much better, and also works well on legs and even my bikini line (no more shaving rash!). Thanks for sharing your experience!

  • This is an awkward and personal subject to talk about, but it's something most of us girls have to deal with:/ Thanks for your honesty! My friends and I have talked about it, but not all girls are as open. I've been interested in this for a long time and am still contemplating it

  • It SOOOOOO depends on your level of pain tolerance..it's not bad for me at all and although i had a little bleeding the very first time I did it...I didn't have any pain after like you did...everyones different..

  • Hi Xteener! Hope you're doing well. I have two epilators from Emjoi and I love it! I bought both of mine from Shaper Image when they still had their retail stores. I think epilators are so much better than shavers. It pulls out the hair at the root giving you a cleaner look and feel.

  • woah it turned dark so sudden haha

  • btw using an alcohol based deodorant after you epilate is a very bad idea. just saying :|

  • I really like your simple makeup here :) tutorial please~

  • I tried the epilator on my underarms for the first time yesterday...almost died! hopefully the hair doesnt grow in for weeks because I am not looking forward to using it again...

  • :F i'm 13 and my armpits are always stubbly no mater what i do.

besides blaming it on how white i am and that making it easier to see the stubble, during class i raise my hand verrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyy lowlyand my arms are never up or anything and BECAUSE of that, they're starting to smell weird even with deoderant and constant showering:F

  • haha first time I used an epilator on underarms, it hurt so bad, it felt like my skin was pulled out! then after using wax, the skin get used to it. And between wax and epilator, wax is better because it really pulled out the hair from the root and doesn't hurt at all!

  • I love how you look in this video - you look a lot more radiant! :) and thank you for sharing your experience because I'm contemplating between waxing and investing in a epilator

  • did anyone else look at their underarms during this video?

  • @Cookies0159 bahahahaha

  • i use the epilator for my legs IT IS AMAZINGG like 3 weeks withoutt hair

And i am going to try it on my under armm they say it hurts a lot more...

  • Great video :-) I have been looking for a way to remove my underarm hair (yes I do shave), and because I have dark skin, they do get pretty dark. I have a question tho... how often would you have to epilate

  • officiallly never getting this hahah

  • How old are you?

  • I have the same one as you.. I love it <3 <3 but since It's like waxing.. I have to wait a while for my hair to grow out before I can epilate again... Which is one of the pros I like about shaving since once I see stubbles.. I can shave again..Whereas epilating, you have to wait till the hair is long enough for the epilator or wax to reach it.

  • Hey I just found your videos and I subscribed! I've never used an epilator before, but I used to wax. When I would wax my armpits, they would be sore like you described. I wouldn't use deodorant the same day I waxed them, I would use baby powder instead. It kept me from getting a rash. I'm definitely going to get an epilator. Thanks for sharing your experience!

  • i thought Asian girls don't shave...

  • @vietorkorean lol

  • please do another revieww

  • hi ya! my bf just got me the Emjoi Soft Caress Epilator and now im waiting for it to arrive my doorstep. pls do a full review abt it :)

  • Thank you for this video and your honesty! It can be an awkward subject, but it is soo helpful to hear your opinion. And I have the same issue with my underarm hair! I hate it!

  • @holydaffodils I think a lot of us have that same issue. I'm a brunnette and have lighter skin, so even after shaving I can still see the roots of my dark hair through my skin. So annoying! I just recently bought an epilator (remington smooth and silky) which has 42 tweezers and it's amazing! It definitely hurts the first few times, but I noticed taking some aspirin beforehand helps with the pain. It not only works well for the upper lip and underarm, but it has enough tweezers to cover a large

  • I use my epilator on my legs. And you inspired me to try it out on my underarms today. It was pretty painful, it bled a bit and I only got halfway on each, but I keep stroking the smooth skin that it's left behind C: so, result! I'll do the other half tomorrow xD

  • Hi! I have been using an Emjoi epilator for 6 years. I have never shaved my legs as I am blessed with hairless legs. I use it for my underarms and my private area. Yes the first time I cried how it was painful. Then as I repeated the process a few days later, the pain was significantly lessened and then a few more times and the pain was almost enjoyable. Now the only way I know that it is epilating is the slight ping I feel when it tweezes the hair. I love it and cannot live without it.

  • is it battery?

  • Sally's beauty supply has an Emjoi Divine epilator (retails for $42.99 but on sale this month of May for $29.99).... I tried it for the first time 2 days ago and I'm so happy I gave it a try...I'm also hoping to get a lighter looking underarms.....love your videos!

  • @retha19 the Emjoi Divine uses AAA batteries, no plugs required :)

  • @kikaymomtoo thanks for ur comment.. actually Im interested in that purple emjoi epilators.. seems it cant be used in Singapore :(

  • @retha19 why cant emjoi be used in singapore?

  • @gracesupang it's due to voltage diffference between US and SG..

  • you look beautiful in this video :)

  • i think it helps if u use an ice pack. numb the area with an ice pack first, and stop in between when it's too painful and ice it again before continuing. reduces swelling and bleeding too. worked for me when i first started using the epilator for my underarms. :)

  • You are ADORABLE :) Your vlog was really helpful. Thanks a lot !

  • I've been epilating for years. I think it's the best - better and much easier than waxing. It's a lot less messier and you don't need things like shaving cream or wax. I started doing it for the same reason you did - the underarms!! It's totally worth it for the lack of underarm stubble!

  • cool! the epilator sounds interesting.. definitely considering buying one now. I'm looking forward to your full review of the device after a few weeks =)

  • oh my god, thank u so much for this video. i have a same issue like yours. hair is everywhere :(

will be wait for ur full review next time :)

  • dont worry it doesn't hurt at all after some time, I'm doing it for years now, and I don't feel a thing!

  • Laser hair removal is definitely the way to go. The prices are getting cheaper because it's becoming so much more popular. Also, on livingsocial and groupon they have deals all the time. HOWEVER, make sure that you're going to a place with a real laser if you ever consider. A lot of times companies will use an IPL laser which is a gimmick. You want a laser where the company is using either the alexandrite setting or the nd: yag. I used to work for a company, lol. My uarms are SO SMOOTH!!

  • i always tweezed my underarm hairs...it takes a really long time (with a neck cramp haha) but eventually I got 'addicted' to doing that instead of shaving...i think i only shaved my underarms once haha

but yeah. when i switched to the epilator, it was a smooth transition since i've been used to the plucking. you'll be used to it really soon! : )

  • There are some at Walgreens for $25!

  • @genuinewicked well yeah but r they good?

  • i've wanted an epilator sence i saw a review on youtube (like.. 6 months ago..) and i looked on line and there are soo many diferent kinds. (plus the thought of epilating scared me a little ^_^;; ) i would looove it if you would do a full review and i know what you mean by the discomfert with your underarm hair. it is the same for me ^_^;; eeh shy to admit that. thank you so much for the review :) i think ill go buy one when i can ^_~

  • I want to try this but it looks so scary too XD hahaha and you look STUNNINg in this video, i love your lip color :D

  • I would love to try this, but it's too expensive though :(

Can't afford it, I guess I'll stick with the tweezers :>

  • I have been waxing for about 5 years, and I bought an epilator last Christmas. I bought the Panasonic ES-WD72. What's great about this epilator is that you can actually use it while you're taking a shower. It will be less painful since the pores opens up.

And yes, it may be painful for the first time, but you will get used to it =) And I honestly think it's worth the money to invest good one so you wouldn't have to waste your money on wax and shaving products. And it's quick too =)

  • I have a problem with underarm bumps/rashes... Anyone else?? I've tried shaving and tweezing and I get them either way. Does anyone have any advice for that? I'd rather not wax because I don't want to have to grow it out before I wax it.

  • @shotdown624 You mean like in-grown hair? I get that too if I shave my underarms too often (I have to wait 1-3 days before I shave again). What helped me a lot though was exfoliating. Use your loofa in the shower and scrub at your underarms... it really helps.

  • @angle021 I think it's partially in-grown hair and partially something else.. Not entirely sure haha. But thanks! I will try that :]

  • Eeks. This makes me so glad that I don't grow underarm hair..!

  • i wish i was Asian, y'all r all so pretty. Perfect skin, no pores, oily skin is not that visible, long sleek soft shiny black hair, nice height, almost all are like hairless cats!, the list goes on!!! SO jealous of you xteeener, your easily one of the prettiest girls i have ever seen in my life, and also one of the prettiest girls on the YT beauty cummunity!

  • @Shoppingstar525 Lol. That's not true!! Not for all Asians. She's just a pretty girl :)

  • @angle021 for the majority of them and yes, she is one of the pretty ones!

  • @angle021 and even Michelle Phan, Bubzbeauty, Promise (Michelle's step sis), Hollyannarae, and a bunch of other Asian beauty gurus on here, absolutely stunning!!!! r u Asian?

  • @Shoppingstar525 I agree with that! And yes I am Asian, but I'm not hairless and I don't have straight hair. But listen... you are beautiful in your own way! I'm sure we'd be jealous of attributes that you have!

  • @angle021 aww thanks :) but idt so...

  • Yes, please do a full review on the epilator. i would like to know if it still continued to work after 2-3 weeks. Thank you.

  • I bought one of these, and used it about 6 or 7 times and did not like it at all. I got so many ingrown hairs, and I had not been prone to ingrown hairs before that. It was super painful as well. I had to get some assistance in pulling my armpit skin to make it taught and it still hurt and it made me bleed every time. I do agree with becoming desensitized to the pain, but only to a certain extent.

  • I would like to try this. I hate my arm pits also.

  • I would like a full review video! just an fyi lol

  • painful but worth it.

  • I have a question, do epilators leave some hair behind making it look like you really shaved? I mean unlike tweezing where you pull all of your hair? TIA

  • don't feel embarrassed!! i've had the same problem as you for years! with shaving i could hardly ever wear tank tops, or sleeveless tops.. but then i discovered waxing and it changed my life! i have still to try the epilator! soon.. so thanks a lot for the video.. very helpful

  • My mom gave me mine at 12 as I have very dark hair and had to wear skirts as part of the school uniform, I got used to the pain but personally I prefer waxing to the epilator but I still use my epilator in between waxing to remove hair that did not go away or is growing faster than the rest!

A little advice for your underarms: try to avoid putting on deodorant (specially the alcohol based) after epilating, it stings and it can block your pores!!

  • Great review!

I bought mine last year for around $70 and use it to shave my legs area. It came with an ice pack, and first, I was like 'what?!' but it really really helps. About last month I tried to use epilator without putting an ice pack before, and it hurts so bad.

Anw, I never had the guts to shave my underarm area using an epilator because the sound scares the hell out of me. So until now i'm still using tweezer for my underarm.

And i think i prefer waxing than epilating for my legs area.

  • funny this was uploaded recently. i just epilated my upper lips today. :))

  • epliare what...???

  • I would love to hear how you feel about it in a bit because I am so sick of shaving and I hate having to wait for the hair to get long enough to shave cleanly. srsly considering trying it myself after I hear how you feel about it later

  • thank you for the honest sharing. it helped a lot. i think i going to try it myself...as I don't like to go waxing salon every single time...will let you know my result as well! cheers!

  • lol when I raed the title wrong, my dyslexia kicked in and I swore i saw " My First Vibrator Experiance"

  • i totally understand you, i truly recomend going to some laser sessions to eliminate or at least to diminish the amount of hair, also the sking becomes lighter... i've done so, i had fantastic results

  • Is it safe to use on your legs or bikini area?

  • Thank you!!! I'm really looking forward to your review in a few weeks! i haaaaaate hair and am so sick of shaving and don't want to pay for waxing.

  • @mybeautifulrescue21 yp nd it also prevents da left ova embarassin black dots after shavin nd waxin~ plus it's actually much cheaper!!!=Dthou for da legs, it takes sm time 2 remove al da hairs XD

  • Ive been using an epilator for almost 2 years now, and trust me, you'll get used to the pain to the point where it wouldn't hurt anymore. It's muchhh better than shaving!

  • i feel like everybody scare because of the sound just put on some earphone and listen to loud music when u turn it on so u wont hear the sound anymore :)

  • can you epilate your bikini line? lol awkward but im curious

  • If you use it regularly (once a week) you will have less and weaker hair and it wont hurt so much, and you'll get it done in like 5 min.

  • It looks as though she has only on e earring in and the other has fallen out :/

  • so brave of you to post a blog about underarm hair and epilating. yes it hurts like crazy, and i have a similar problem too!! i actually find it less painful just to tweeze or wax.

  • i use it on my legs all the time.. doenst hurt anymroe at all ... after i waxed i use it to jst trip whtever hair cms out in my bikini area... not tht bad.. but yeah doing ur underarm wld hurt like hell... i cant believe she did tht.. kodoos!!

  • they have cheap epilators at sally's beauty supply ($35 or so) and a few at rite aid ($10). i've never tried one but now i def might!

  • how do you get rid of your dark underarms?

  • please do a follow up! =)

  • :o i should try one of these... it's so easy to cut yourself when you shave

  • I still epilate because the hair takes longer to grow than shaving, which I like. Don't worry, you'll get used to epilating soon. :)

  • The first time I epilated was two years ago and it hurt sooo bad! The first time didn't remove all my hair on my legs, so I had to do it again the following day. After a while (maybe 10 times of using it), it doesn't hurt as much. Now, I don't feel it as much when I epilate.

The problem I have with epilating is that I have to exfoliate before epilating because of the risk of getting ingrown hair. I picked a few ingrown hairs on my legs and it scarred.

  • omg i dont think it is worth the pain at all

  • @ahfunk08 it's 70 dollars on amazon and on their official website i don't see one at 55 :( maybe the offer is over or something..

  • @2127578 I have the Braun Excelle i believe is the name. Ulta was doing a sale and i got mine for 55 but its originally 69 i believe. Ulta always has coupons and deals.

  • i have the same epilator & i always use it for my armpits & upper lip too! i liked it so much that i even started using it on my arms and legs.... so much better than shaving! it hurt on my legs a lot the first time but, after a while, it got better.

  • hmm what if you've been using tweezers? is it less painful to use?

  • Epilators are extremely painful the first few times around. But when you see the results it's totally worth it. It takes a while for the hair to grow back and visibly show after a few days, whereas when you shave the hair will be visible and stubbly the next day. I sort of find it less painful after I take a warm/hot shower- mostly because it opens up the pores just a teensy weensy bit, and a cold shower after epilating since it soothes the redness.

  • I've been wanting to try since I heard about it with Pursebuzz too! but I'm just so chicken for the pain, and it is pretty costly if I don't keep using it... But I'm getting closer to being convinced!

  • I'm scared to try this ...

  • whao... I want to try but I am such a chicken.... I'm so scared that it will hurt. I have tweezed my armpits before but my eyes hurt from staring at such an odd angle and it takes forever. Do you think if I tweeze for a while and get used to the pain, using the epilator will be much easier? I do want to wax it but does anyone wax their armpits themselves?

  • ahhh i want it

  • epilators are the best thing that ever happened to me! the pain will go away after a while. for me it wasn't really painful the first time i used it just because i was tweezing my underarm hair before. but epilating makes it so much faster with the same result :)

  • I use an epilator too for my arms, legs and underarms. I've been using it for YEARS and it is worth the pain! You get used to it after a while and now it takes a week before my underarm hair grows back. It keeps my underarm white and clean too (no dark shadows or anything).

  • i have the exact same problem with my underarms - i always have to wait 3 days to shave -__-

  • my underarms had like abbrasion :(

  • Yea I have used this on my leg. Shin area. You will just get really nice smooth and brighter legs after that! :) but after epilating, I will have temporary numbness on my skin. It's painful to do it but the result gets all worthwhile!

  • can you use this on your legs?

  • I find waxing to be the easiest and most painless way to remove hair if it is done right. The only issue is that you do have to wait for it to grow out a little to wax again. But since it pulls hair out by the root, the new hair actually looks lighter/less noticeable than before! I also noticed that after waxing for a while, less hair grows back.

  • im so creeped out... staying away from those machines...

  • oh and yeh ..underarm kills the first 2 times you do it. but after about 10 times it feels like nothing and takes about 1 min each :) stick to it because its sooo worth it.

  • when i epilated for the first time the sound scared the crap outta me too! hahaha ..but after about 2 or 3 times you get used to the pain.

let us know how epilating the top lip has worked out for you ...because ive always wanted to try epilating the top lip but i heard that it makes the skin on your lip tough

  • I going back and forth on deciding to buy one. Im terrified after hearing everyone talk about the pain. On a scale of 1-10 how bad is it?lol

  • Im in love with this epilator!! it didnt hurt me the first time I used because I used to wax my legs and underarms. It takes me 5 min to epilate one underarme :)

I also had some bleeding the first time, but nothing scary :p

When im done I apply some olive oil and my skin become really smooth!

  • My first time epilating my underarms I used wax but it hurt sooo much that I gave up. Then I started shaving for some years. But last summer I decided to try use the epilator. It was just as you said: it hurt a lot!! I had to epilate my underarms little by little. Of course there was blood too... But I'm very happy to touch my underarms after every time I use the epilator. It feels so soft ^_^

Thanks for sharing your first epilating experience!

  • What's this thing called at 3:54 ? Really looking for that thing and I can't find the name xO
