  • Well, Buckethead does a better job at it.

  • @hahalooll123 Bucket head is all about show and gimmicks to me. I won't lower myself. I would rather be unknown. There are fans for everything and everyone. To each their own. I prefer substance rather than flash and show etc. If he never wore a KFC bucket he may have never become famous. His noise wasn't enough. He had to come up with a gimmick and that's okay. That's kind of the music biz.

  • @RayTutajjr I honestly don't even pay attention to the whole KFC bucket, If anything he stayed away from being famous using that bucket. I would consider this noise in comparison to Buckethead's music and theory. Gimmick or show, the man has talent. But, to each their own.

  • Death metal is random bullshit to me personally.

  • Random bullshit. I'd rather listen Death Metal.

  • there's a fine line between atonal music and utter bullshit, note quite sure which category this falls into

  • @CraftTheNightAway Well, let me help you figure it out. 1st, there are actual notes and chord groupings making up what you are hearing. 2nd, those selected notes etc are aiming for dissonance and that was achieved. So therefore we can conclude this is some sort of music. It is called Atonality or serialism. Not everyone can handle it. And 3rd, bullshit is feces from bulls. Sorry i had to explain it.

  • this is nice. thank you for sharing.

  • Maybe it would be better if you had an education in music. Have you taken courses in atonality? Probably not. The chords are dissonant yes. They are suppossed to be. Don't listen to it if you can't handle it. It is not intended to make you feel the same as if listening to consonant music. I achieved what i wanted and that is dissonance and some folks just don't get it or can't handle it. This is a very ordered system. Get an education in it before you call it gibberish.

  • Atonal music is amusing on occasion, but this is just gibberish chords. :\ Maybe it would sound better on piano.

  • I often get my best idea (imho) from my dreams. This morning I heard something i could only describe as atonal music. That's how I came across your video. Not interesting I know but I wonder if atonal music didn't come into being partly through dreams or rather as a reaction to restrictions of musical conventions. I also remember as a child not letting my lack of any musical training prevent me from playing the piano and getting a lot of satisfaction from it.

  • I can't even remember when the last time I commented on this was. You all need to just let it go. No matter how many of you fans of this style of music tell me how or why I'm wrong, I'm not going to change my mind. I legitimately want to understand atonal music but instead of helping me to do that, you all insist on attacking my understanding of music. All of you that have directly addressed my comments have proven to me that there is something to this musical style and now I want to know what

  • @jordansherrod123 I think if you actually took a college course on Atonal Music you might appreciate it more after understanding the way it is constructed. Once again i will also say that I myself do next expect most people to like this dissonance. I understand that. It's no secret. Most people like consonance and not dissonance. As for me i can accept both.

  • @RayTutajjr There is a distinct difference between "appreciate" and "enjoy". Rules, while meant to be broken every once in a while, are not typically not learned solely so one can check off which ones haven't been followed. I could type a string of meaningless nonsense just to demonstrate that I have indeed broken every rule in the English language. That doesn't make it a good idea.

  • @RayTutajjr And before you tell me to take a class in atonal music, yes, I do see what you're getting at. And for the same bourgeois stuff the atonal movement has been cranking out since the forties, it's not bad.

  • For me, this type of sound kinda familiar as the one I randomly played using guitar ( I don't know how to play guitar)

Well since music is subjectively, so it's something that has emotional impact on this composer I guess.

  • Man Iike this thing a lot. It could be a soundtrack to some creepy 60's horror movie. Is this guitar in tune at least? haha

  • @Kidnapper89 Yes the guitars are in tune. Glad you liked it. I too think it would work well for some scary movies etc.

    Ray

  • Atonal music is glorified crap and a meaningless string of notes and cords wrongfully called music. It is a lazy excuse for composition and is an easy way for people who can't compose real music to say they are composers. People who say the like and understand atonal music are, first of all, lying to themselves because there really isn't anything about it to understand, and secondly, are trying to be hipsters and trying to seem like they have some deep understanding of music and trying to seem

  • @jordansherrod12345 1st it's not a string of meaningless notes. This method i use is extremely systematic and the intervals must be chosen carefully. 2nd this music conveys emotion and a mood in my opinion and it is an expression. 3rd Most all my compositions are tonal, so if you like tonality listening to my many other works. 4th yes it does take a deeper understanding of music to compose in this method. It's just the truth. If you can't handle atonal then go elsewhere. Try pop music.

  • r@jordansherrod12345 Just because you dont like it does not mean its "crap" I dont like Spice Girls or Micheal Jackson but that does not mean they are crap. Dont like = Dont Listen = Simple

  • @jordansherrod12345 Music is any sound the is desired to be music. So if I hold the suspend pedal on a piano an slide my fingers across the strings and I have the intention of making music, it is. What's your definition of music?

  • @jordansherrod12345 the fact that you don't uderstand this music doesn't mean that the others don't understand it! I am a proffesional musician I think you should think better about this!

  • @jordansherrod12345

I'm always surprised when people say this is hipster music, because I can't think of many composers who are hipsters. Even most musicians don't usually enjoy this stuff, such as both of my parents, but it doesn't make the composer lazy. There are many college classes ranging from undergrad through post doc pertaining to this music, and virtually no classes about why this music sucks, so I think you're in the intellectual minority here.

    BE GONE TROLL!!!

  • @omegapoint777 Well, it not our fault that you are an uneducated rube. I am not trying to be mean here, perhaps this is too unfamiliar to you, or perhaps you do not find this aesthetically pleasing, but I humbly suggest you to do a bit of research on atonal and post-tonal music before making any judgements. If you do, I am sure you will be intrigued, and your conventional idea of what is music will faint ;)

  • @Sudharsanbluewaves Thanks for your support omegapoint777. I find it interesting how many hits my atonal music has compared to my tonal music and pop arrangements. People are listening and i have recieved many good comments but also many bad ones. That's okay. I am glad there are people out there that do understand this music. I don't expect most folks to like atonal music. I think i was the first one on youtube who created serious atonal videos.

  • I understand this music, it is relaxing for me.

  • @PerfectRandomness Thank you. You can connect with this.

  • @omegapoint777 Tritones used to be against the law to play back in the day because it was referred to as the music of Satan. Then humanity developed to appreciate them and now they are used all the time in jazz music and atonal music and even some classical music (moonlight sonata...). Music develops through time.

  • @omegapoint777 Youre a piece of shit. I can clearly see that you're just soooo stupid that your brain can only accept things that you already know. The reason why there's no progress in the music world now is because of some ignorant piece of shit like you. now go listen to justin bieber and enjoy the good old tonal shit.

  • @omegapoint777 Go and jump under a train fucker..

  • @omegapoint777 You want me to go through the history of music on a youtube post? It's not 'my' logic. Just part of the history of music. I'm not sure where your getting 'rube' from. I don't think your not intelligent enough or whatever.

  • @omegapoint777 I don't create this music to cause distress. As you see from the comments that some people really like this atonal stuff and yes some hate it. When i completed a college course on 20th century harmony i grew to appreciate this atonal stuff and especially the way it was composed with a 12-tone system devised by arnold schoenberg in the early 1900's. I mostly do nice sounding tonal works but the atonal lets me express myself in a way tonal music just can't.

    Peace.

  • @omegapoint777 A-tonality is just a logical step through the journey and development of music. 200 years ago tunes like summertime would have had the same reaction as the one your giving. The human ear needs time to adjust to new tonal mixes. It's not pretentious, just another step forward. Are you THAT arrogant and dare I say 'pretentious' yourself to think that your opinion is the measuring stick to which musical acceptability should be measured?

  • @omegapoint777 Thanks. If you can't handle this method of composition then listen to my arrangement of Surfer Girl by the Beach boys or Edelwiess from the sound of music. That is music for simple minds. Maybe you can handle that. I have a ton of music that you might like.

The atonal music is hard for some to handle and i can understand why, but it usually is because some people have no music education.

  • I'm not a big fan of the guitar's timbre. The dissonance doesn't...shimmer. It's too sharp a sound for my liking.

I think it'd sound better performed on a harp or something with a soft, droning quality.

  • This is art! Brilliant! In our music coridoor there were some sheet music examples of atonal music on display, and someone went past and said, "That's an A* example?! It's just a bunch of random notes!" You need to understand the meaning of atonal music to appreciate it.

  • @24Pianist Thank you very much. It is nice to see there are quite a few people who understand atonal music. Once again thank you!

  • this is shit. argue about it all you want, but this is shit.

  • @mnmnmmnmnnmmnn Oh thank you very much. I hate to have the pattern broken here regarding the comments on may atonal music. Some Love it, Some hate it. I understand some folks cannot handle the dissonance and aimless feeling you might get. IT is still art and it took time tcompose it. Now if you seen a clip of this in a really dark or eerie movie you would come out of the theater and say, "Wow, that was fantastic" and you would not even think about how the music helped make a scene fantastic.

  • My music theory explained to me what atonal music was and how it was written and this is the first atonal song i've listened to. I would have to say that I love it great job man

  • @Soadsgotaload Thanks very much. I have the info at atonality101tripodcom Just add the dots after 101 and tripod and you will see the pages i have about the subject. I also have other atonal vids. Peace,

    Ray

  • @RayTutajjr splendid love your stuff

  • @iorost You are not the only one who finds atoanlity to their liking.

    Thanks for listening!

  • with atonal music its very difficult to create something that sounds good. and i must say you nailed it. Love this. its fantastic.

  • @surfchick94 Thank you very much!

  • @RayTutajjr I could be wrong, but wasn't this song uploaded on youtube a few years ago, along with others songs that you wrote? and then you re-uploaded them?

  • @denissymbolic Yes, i had to re upload them and start all over under a different user name. It was painful.

  • Cool, theres some really great photos there too!

  • kinda weird, the guitar sound is too soft for the harsh notes in my opinion but still cool

  • this is really great stuff... do you have this tabbed anywhere? would like to take a shot at learning it on guitar, with your permission of course

  • @DreamDeliriumMusic Sorry no tabs written down. I just had notes written down and then clustered a few chords together and followed in order. I am very glad you liked the work.

    Thanks,

    Ray

  • It makes me feel weird, and a little disoriented. I love it!

  • so this is just chaotic music? i mean atonal,,or non harmonic is the same or not?

  • @papcyrill NO, this is very organized. All notes are pre-selected and played in a certain order. Other forms of atonal music can be chaotic if the notes are not selected beforehand. The dissonance between the intervals is what may make it seem chaotic.

  • @RayTutajjr mm,thank you,,but still here is no basic harmony right? just different definition for melody?

    thank you in advance pal

  • @papcyrill Right no harmony. Meldoy comes from the tone row of 12 notes which one should try to make the intervals dissonant.

    Thanks

  • Love it! I recall tunning my bass to atonal sounds. Long time ago..

  • Wow this reminds of of Atonal Marimba by Jacob Preston

  • If you like this and are into Hip Hop you'd like DJ Premer's work ex:

jeru the damaja come clean instrumental

  • I really like this! Though It does not have a clear cut tonic the rhythmic is somewhat repetitive at times and this gives it at time stability. Though I have to be in a certain mood to hear this kind of music, I feel that it really does express something that we as humans cannot express in mere words.

  • @ZeldaRun Thank you. Yes I too feel it does express something we humans express but cannot put into words perhaps.

  • Ahh, I can´t listen to this for long. I think I´m somehow going mad, I want it to stop so badly....It´s like torture, pain.

  • my god the lack of a tonal centre is really confusing to listen to, its kind of dark and not that bad but it makes my head messed up

  • @Distorsted It actually has order to me. Its very..fluid...sounding.

  • Thank you for this. I've fallen in love with partly atonal music myself, I just started trying to produce music a year ago even if I'm not much of a performer. I can tinker some at a piano and fumble with a bass, but I produce what I can.

What I wanted to say, which didn't involve an egocentric statement, is that I really-really like this. I'd like to think it's not a "snob thing" either, but I can't judge my own character, I'll leave that to others.

All I know is that I <3 this type of music.

  • @Terrayeah Thanks very much about your comments on my atonal music. I know it is not popular and it takes an open mind to new sounds to accept or like this. To me it expresses an area of my mind that i can't say with words but only with music. I think we all have dissonance in our lives. Not everythiing goes right and there is discord here and there. SO many possible things to do with music.

    Thanks,

    Ray

  • This is absolutely gorgeous! Much of this is reminiscent of Ralph Towner deep, dark harmonies. The reverb sounds great on this.

  • i dont get it its just a bunch of random chords and notes it has no melody or audibly pleasing sound to it

  • @42ML51 You are right in that you "don't get it". It is the furtherest thing from random notes. The order of the notes is predetermined. That is not random. IT has melody but it is discordant instead of concordant. SOme people really like this atoanl stuff and some don't. It does not matter. We all like different things and dislike things. Atonality 12-tone technique method is very strict and ordered. There's no improv nor randomness to it. SOme atonality could be improv bit not this kind.

  • @RayTutajjr I realize that its not random, and is a pretty complex thing to play. But i was comparing it to random notes. If you can play it i give you props but honestly i think the only reason people like it is because of the fact that its difficult and unique. But just because this is true does not make it pleasing to the ear. I'm not trying to criticize you, but the "dont get it" argument is ridiculous. its not i dont understand it, my ears understand pleasing sounds, which this lacks

  • @42ML51 Well, you had said you did not get it so now you are saying you get it. Okay, fine. SOme people really do find it pleasing to the ear and i admit it is not many people. But for example a person said below that "This is absolutely gorgeous." So how do you explain that? Do you think they are lying? Our minds are often shut to new information and sounds and we become bias when confronted with something foreign to what we believe.

  • @RayTutajjr I just think theyre minds are telling them that its good, because they want it to be, since its not mainstream and is difficult... kind of like a placebo, their minds are telling them that its good. But thats just my opinion I dont know for sure

  • Comment removed

  • I like

  • Personally, I think it's both interesting and enjoyable. Brilliant stuff!

  • Yeah, buckethead is the shit!

  • Wow, This is really nice. I actually have a taste for this chaotic stuff. My ears like this displeasing stuff. I started to like it due to Buckethead. He some atonal albums and songs, but he also throws in very beautiful parts in key. You should check him out and you will probably like his stuff. Most people would have only said it's interesting, but I do like this stuff.

  • @StopRunningKid Glad you like it too!

  • @StopRunningKid Yeah a great example of Bucketheads A-tonal technique would be his 8 finger tapping, ahh sounds so cool

  • it's so nice to see Atonal music. hardly anyone makes it ^_^

  • @TheTravelingbard Thanks very much. It is interesting that on my old youtube site these atonal vids were very popular. SO there are folks outthere that appreciate it. I am glad.

    Take care,

    Ray

  • What happened to you on youtube man? I've been googling and checking youtube nearly every day.

Great thing to see you back, and I'll definately keep the site written down on a paper.

I'll comment once again: Brilliant song!

  • @SevereThroatCancer Glad you found my new space here. I have to stick to strictly my own compositions or public domain stuff until things change on youtube. The Fair Use phrase is something i thought i abided by but not according to them.

  • @RayTutajjr Aah yes, the fair use policy. You'd think that they would modify the rules for the internet. But I suppose that a lot still has to happen to this newly discovered virtual realm.

  • @SevereThroatCancer Yes it is a huge issue for youtube. I think it is fair for people to create their own arrangements of songs that are not being sold.
