@asus3571 Yes, even though the generator may not have been used during an outage, it still needs regular maintenance. Buy only factory!! What a crock. Name brand oil filters such as Fram are equally good. I buy mine at the local auto parts store they cross reference the part number.
Most 4 stroke engines don't need new spark plugs every year unless they are run everyday for many hours. Engines that run on propane or natural gas, plugs last exceptionally long. replacing them is a waste of money. Generators that do more exercise than work need regular oil changes due to moisture build up in oil.
Thats fine and dandy to go and cross reference an oil filter and things,but if you read your warranty info, if you use any other parts other than Generac it voids your warranty.
