  • joe played too good to be in on that 1919 fix, I believe he took the money out of desperation (use it or lose it) because those were tough economic times and charlie O was one cheap bastard. He belongs in the HOF in my humble opinion.

  • WHY THE SHIT SKINNED ACCOMPANIMENT.

  • The Mafia should've shot them all dead. ...and by the way, THIS SONG SUCKS!!!!!!

  • Buck Weaver had it worst.

  • actually 7 men out Joey was not in that i know because he had hit 12 balls and that was a record then plus they threatened his wife

  • Steroids are worse

  • Some of the clean players were suspected to cheat on some other games throughout thier careers as well.

I think Dickie Kerr was one of them.

  • shoeless joe nuck and a few others didnt do anything

  • Charles Comiskey is the motherfucker who's also to blame for these player's fate. That tight-wad son of a bitch treated his players like shit. He'll get his someday. God will take care of him. I don't blame the players for "throwing" the 1919 WS.

  • @theelvisguyComiskey also knew exactly what the players knew before the Series even started. The only reason Buck Weaver got banned was for knowing about the fix eventhough everybody including the players in on the fix knew he wasn't participating. Kid Gleason knew just about everything by the 2nd or 3rd game. So why was Comiskey never punished at all and cast as the wronged owner and Buck got banned for life for exactly the same thing, knowledge beforehand and nothing else?

  • @mecormany Have you ever played baseball?

  • Joe took the money but batted over .300 during the series. I think he wanted to win.

  • look Shoeless might have been innocent but he admitted to it, and Arnold Rothstein did not get him in on it like

jeremy142687 said. and Buck Weaver didn't accept any money but he was in attendance for every meeting including the one where they decided what games there were going to throw and he didn't report them, that is why he got banned from baseball.

  • to me jackson did nothing he had no idea what was going on and buck weaver didnt do anything

  • No,Jackson did know what he was doing. He knew he was taking money to lay down a little. He knew and he was punished accordingly.Shoeless Joe gambled and lost

  • I didnt know you had read to know what money is and what a lot of money is. he knew what he was doing and should be banned. He cheated his owner, his teammates, and the fans! He was promised 20,000 but never got the full amount. Buck weaver never took any money. Kikler3 you have no idea what your talking about and Rothstein did not get Joe in the scandal, his teammates such as Chick Gandil did. I am sure you guys saw the movie and think you know what your talking about but read a book sometime.

  • HE COULDN'T READ! He Didn't Know what he was doing.

And he did not fight the jusge when sentenced. HE WAS DESTROYED WHEN HE FOND OUT!

  • @SportsSpot Just because he couldn't read doesn't mean he didn't know what he was doing. And if you look at Series, he didn't start hitting until game 5 when the Sox decided they'd been doublecrossed and started playing to win -- and did-- until gamblers told Lefty Williams they'd kill his wife if he won game 8. Buck Weaver was the real innocent here. Took no money, banned for not ratting out his mates. In that era throwing a game was so common, they could've banned 1/3 of both leagues.

  • Shoeless was illeterate and didnt know what he was doing when he took the 20,000! dollars when the gambler "Rothstein" found out he wasnt in and tried to pay him off

  • actually jackson only got 5000 and buck weaver got nothing!!!

  • buck weaver inocent

  • not joe jackson

  • jackson and weaver were inasint

  • "Shoeless" Joe Jackson didn't know how to read or write so he didn't know what he was doing when he took the $10,000.

  • ya it sucks for him

  • @BryceTannerCooper C'mon, he couldn't read or write but he wasn't stupid. He didn't get 10, he got 5 and he took it. I don't think he played in the tank, nobody really knows who did besides Gandil, Cicotte and Williams. Joe had been in the MLs for a decade, he was no country bumpkin by then. Williams gave him 5 grand and he didn't give it back. Even if he did play his hardest, taking the money was very dumb, no matter if he was illiterate. They took the fall for an enitre industry's problem.

  • @mecormany i didnt call him stupid, stupid

  • @BryceTannerCooper No but you are stupid if you think I called him or you stupid. In fact I said he wasn't stupid, if you have any kind of reading comprehension at all, which obviously you don't. However let me take this opportunity to say that if you think not being able to read or write means he didn't know he was taking $5,000 (not 10, moron) you are beyond stupid. READ what is written ya dork.

  • @BryceTannerCooper

True but I don't think he was as dumb as they portrayed him in the movie Eight Men Out!
