My grandparents use to take me there during summer back in the 70's. She just passed away at the age of 105. I will always have fond thoughts of both.
Heartbreaking. The last memory I have of my grandfather is riding the Screechin' Eagle with him. It was my first coaster ride. He passed away unexpectedly a few weeks later. I had always hoped that if I ever have grandchildren, I could make it their first coaster ride. But it looks like it will never happen....:(
@xxbubblybubblzxx I agree with you it was alot better and Cheaper then Kings Island and the great thing about americana is that you didnt have to park unknown amount of miles away like you do at kings island and get lost in the parkin lot tryin to find your car. Now the sad thing is that if youve been walin all day at the park The cheap azzes got rid of the Tram that took you to and from the park entrance
The screaming eagle was more terrifying than the beast ! my favorite was the rock-o-planes...and remember that shocking door-know device in the arcade room? get a jolt for a nickel..ILOVED it..your arms would lock up..and you could zap your friends..expressions were priceless..and the motorized boats were a big thrill for a youngster..danged rails ; )..I remember seeing Steppenwolf there and the drummer was the only original member ; }...'hey, where's john kay?' lol
My family always spent our summers here, my dad's company had their picnic here. I remember running from ride to ride with my brothers and sister and all my cousins. We always had a great time.
The only reason I'd thank Jerry Couch is to let them in the park to shoot photo's. Other than that, the bass turd needs to sell the rides and move on. Letting them rot is a sin !!!
The eagle was the very first coaster i ever rode, back in 85. There's some good pov vids on here but don't let them fool ya the eagle packed a punch, it would seriously throw you out of your seat haha. I always wanted to go to Kings Island so bad when i was a kid but it was cheaper to go here. So in a nutshell i went here quite a bit and have a lot of wonderful vivid memories. So sad to see this but thanx for the reminder of what the rides looked like and thnx for the vid. : )

Loved the Screechin Eagle Coaster. Back in the late 90s my friends and i would get season passes to Kings Island every year and go there quite often, but still i would have to make a trip to Americana at least once a summer just to ride the eagle. Sure, it wasnt nearly as big as the coasters at Kings Island but still there still is something fun about riding a 80 year old wooden coaster.
When I was little my parents always took me to Kings Island and then when I was watching Life After People I saw Americana and my dad was in tears and said I would love it their.
I remeber the huge carp in the lake and you could buy food for them out of a coin operated machine. God I had good times there. My mom also used to tell me about taking me to Fantasy Farm. What year did that close?
Is the park empty now or still like in the video?Places like Idore Park in Ohio and Whalom Park in MA were all bulldozed down and nothing has been built on that land yet.
Mom would always save up on RC Cola cans with coupons on them. Last I went, I had to be about 11. I'm 23 now, and I remember the layout of this park like it's King's Island.
King's Island, Americana, and before it closed, Fantasy Farm, were always what we went to.
The video is depressing. Sure, King's Island is, and always has been, better than Americana, but still. We couldn't afford King's Island every single year.
Americana had to close because they couldn't keep up with the amount of business Kings Island was puling out when they started going to the thrill ride route.
I wish they would open this place up for tours. I would gladly pay 20 buck to just walk through the part and look at all the stuff I used to ride as a kid.
The last it was open hardly anybody knew about it because of piss poor advertising and a piss poor management team! It could have been a great place once again!
This was the first amusement park that I ever went to. I can remember riding the "screeching eagle" with my grandpa the first time. Good memories, sad to see it's gone.
I miss this place so much! At least I got to take my oldest son there when it reopened for that one year. But my other two will never know what a great park this was! The screechin eagle was my first big coaster, and I wish it could have been open for my kids too.
i use to love going to americana my mom and great uncle who both pasted away my mom 10 years ago and my great uncle this past march both love taking me there and we would go with our church too every year i felt like crting thinking of all ther good times we had there i hope it does open back up i have 3 kids that i would love ot take there thanks for the walk down my past
This video is heartbreaking! I worked for Americana the summer of 1999 in the games department, and then once more during the summer of 2002 when the carnival group leased the park. Unfortunately the majority of the staff I worked with transfered to Coney Island and the park was left with no one to run it. I live only 4 miles away from Lesourdsville Lake and wish that it would have somehow survived this tragedy!
This place was my playground in the late 80s early 90s, I worked 5 seasons for Mrs. Bernie in the gift shop (and with my mom) and it was the best time of my teenage years. Mrs Bernie was the best boss I have ever had in my whole working career. I have alot of fond memmories of Americana, and sad my kids most likely will never experience this place. It had its hard times but the good times outshined the bad. RIP Americana/Lesourdsville Lake, You are deeply missed!!!!
Americana...I spent many of summers there in the 80's. The park was kinda ran down last time I was there though. The Eagle scared the shit out of us and not in a good way one time and that Space Combat ride had sparks shooting out of the stick thing that made it go up and down.
Speaking about the Eagle...that thing is probably beyond being safe to ride anymore even if someone did try to restore it. It's been sitting dormant for how long now? I'd be afraid to ever get on that thing again.
I was there once around 1989 or 1990...it was called Americana at the time. There was also a park called Fantasy Farm for a while - I've been there too but I was really little when I was there.
I live closer to Cedar Point these days, but still miss some of the smaller parks with shorter lines...
I live in Cincinnati. I grew up going to King's Island and Americana, and I've been to Fantasy Farm quite a few times.
Americana was, alright. Very unsafe. Never rode the Serpent or Screechin' Eagle. I've heard horror stories of the Screechin' Eagle jumping the track, EVERY time we went.
The Mexican Hat ride was my favorite though. This video made me pretty sad
Thank you for posting this video. I have often wondered what happened to LaSouredsville. I spent many fun times there back in the '50s. It was closer than the old Coney Island in Cincy.
this was great i just visited my home town in middletown ohio 2/5/07 - 2/7/07 and i drove by lasourdsvill lake (americana) and i can say it was a shame that it closed and i found this and now i can go back into memory lane when ever i want not just becaused i enjoyed the park it is couse i even worked at the park
I loved this park! We went every year when I was a kid (late 70's and all the 80's). It was the best park. I got to take my oldest kid there when they opened for that one year, but the others will never get to go. that makes me sad!
this is one of the signs reasons america has gone to hell i remember the park i went there more times than i could remember i was even there the last official day they were open this is a real damned shame
I remember the seventies also at Lesourdsville. Our family spent a lot of summers there into the eighties. It's a shame i can't take my grandkids there.
I sure remember this place.

Some of the old rides are now located at strickers grove on the west side of Cincinnati.
Do a web search for "strickersgrove" for photos.

I would love to buy the wooden coaster & transport it to the UK.
It was ranked in the top 10 of the world, I hope the owner of the park is ashamed & feels guilty when it falls down.

Good memories and the bitter dust of age. I had wished I could have taken my kids to the park like my grandparents had done for me.
The train is my strongest memory of the park and one of the few memories of my father was playing in the arcade and him playing the gunslinger game.
