  • My sons have these headbands that have a gel that turns cold when it gets wet. They wear them on their construction jobs. Do the soldiers have those too? They NEED them.

  • Part 1: The head bands do not cool the body down in any significant way. They only remove a very small amount of energy from the body which is negligible, and certainly no good for the military or anyone generating high amounts of heat in a hot environment.

  • Part 2. They have the added danger of putting the individual under the false impression that he/she is being cooled and therefore he thinks he can work harder thereby putting him at risk because their body is not being effectively cooled. The only effective way of maintaining core body temperature within safe limits is Liquid Cooling. Hope this helps.

  • Thank you, that was very enlightening. I see the logic of that, which is why I asked if they had the head bands "as well" not as opposed to.

    Not to take from the importance of this invention. I am thankful our soldiers have access to this technology.

  • No it uses water that is chilled by a number of different methods.
