Video = Fail . Right footed players (you average player) tends to shoot to their right (keepers left) when taking penalties. Due to it being more difficult for the kicker to shift body weight and take the shot accurately . Secondly your stance and hand positioning is completely off . You knees are hardly bent thus you will not receive the lift you need when jumping off the spot . you also for didn't mention that keepers should stand behind the line then move forward with the kicker -momentum

Ive been a goalkeeper for ten years and last week got bored and decided to look at penalty saving videos. I watched this video then this and this weekend played a semi final match. We won the match 2-0 after extra time and during the match they had 3 penalties, one which i saved and two which they skyed over the bar. Not sure how much of the penalty saving was down to this video but need to thank this vid :P certainly did make me a hero and got my team a place in the final. so ty :D

its impossible to know where someone is taking a penalty,, if you knew not one penalty would be scored in any leagues. pro footballers are that good that they can make on that they running at a angle to hit a certain corner but then hit the other corner, they could be looking at a corner so you think they are going there but then you think that would be too easy for them to tell you so you would dive the other way and thats when the player could double bluff and hit the corner he looked at.

After being in a team that was involved in many penalty shootouts and winning all of them (never lost on a penalty shootout I've been in goal for). I can say the main thing is the step before the shot. Usually the placement of the foot will give away more than anything else, as players will purposefully fake with their eyes and run up, well, any good player will.

none of that matters, if your a good kicker you pick a spot high and to the corner. if he moves ahead of time to your spot and you worry then you can always hit it to the middle at the last second.. but usually a hard kick to the corner and high works.

when saving penalties, NEVER GUESS WHICH WAY HE WILL SHOOT. if u do u wont have a good chance of saving the shot. saving penalties is all about reflexes. like me. i never guess i always use my reflexes to save penalties. in the semi-final for my team in 2009 i saved 4/5 penalties without guessing. if i guessed, i would have only have saved one penalty. btw its an okay vid. 2.5/5

To save a penalty all you need is very fast reflexes.

Before the shot is taken pay close attention to the kicker's knee, the knee will basically tell you which side he is about to put it in, also try to dive forward alittle, it decreases the angle of which the shot is fired.

All and all, top corner shots are still 100% fool proof, good luck saving those.

Um...I agree with some parts of it, but not with others. In the higher levels (u14ish and up), they look one way and kick the other. Also, right before they shoot, take a step forward to narrow the angle.

In a tourament I just played in 16 Premier, you played a game, kicked 11 PK's, and then played Goalie Wars. Out of the 33 PK's taken, i saved about 18 of them using the rules I stated above.

I think this is just a little bit underastimeted, I mean, some penalties are just unstoppable, there is no guide book to stop penalties just some tricks to help, I know you are just giving examples, but try it when someone shoots it like 65 m/ph. For a goalie it's still always a guess.
