  • dude i lovvvvve this poem it's soooooo funnnny lol

  • Great voice for reading Collins :)

  • Thanks!

  • Ahh yes, lanyards. Useful little devils.

  • I wasn't sure what a lanyard was exactly, but as it turns out, I've been using them for all sorts of things; I just never called them lanyards.

  • I guess it is a strange word now that you mention it.

It's one of those words that, when you repeat it over and over, it ceases to sound like a word.

  • Billy Collins is my favorite poet, too! Hooray.

I themed a mother's day card around this poem last spring. It took me two months (no joke) and made my mama cry... best card ever.

  • Yay, we're poetry buddies!

I looked up "Lanyard" on Wikipedia, and in the external links section of the article is a link to the poem.

  • Love how you start laughing! :P

  • It's a very funny poem.

  • LOL I'll never think of a childhood arts and crafts project the same way again :)

  • i miss my old lanyard now. It was starting to fray but i think i really got rid of it because it wasn't black (it was blue)

  • So, what exactly is a lanyard for?

  • I used mine to hold my car keys. I could wear my lanyard on my neck or clip it to my belt loop with a carabiner clip.

It was great because I never lost my keys when they were on the lanyard... it's like a leash for your keys (some people attach their cell phones to lanyards though too)

  • i must be tremendously unobservant cuz i only just NOW realized ur vids are black n' white, lol :|

  • Yeah, it's because I can't afford a colour camera, according to Trevor Rieger, which is a statement so profoundly idiotic that it's akin to saying that I can't afford wet water.

Anyway, don't feel bad. I can be pretty unobservant sometimes too.

  • i saw that dude's page for the first time the other day -- what a stunning display of internet douchebaggery that website is. what a true asstwat (pardon my french)

  • I'd have to agree.

  • this is an awesome poem bro!

  • Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

  • hahaha, absolutely wonderful.

  • I only wish I could write poems that were half as good.

  • You read some very uniquely entertaining literature.

  • Thanks. I first heard Billy Collins a few years ago on A Prairie Home Companion, and I've loved his stuff ever since.
