In 2007 SSC verified a max speed of 256mph on a closed down public highway in Washington state. Guinness was there to record the attempt. Bugatti never had guiness on hand to record there 253 mph record and they did that on there own private track. Look it up. I respect SSC way more for showing that there car can not only beat Bugatti but can do it on a real road and not just some sterile track enviroment.
