My crayfish knows that when I put in a stick of rivercane he knows it means feeding time. I drop a dead fish in the water then push it down with the stick.
They arent pests.... not pests by far, however they are known to be in the cracks of live rock taken from the ocean... to then have the owners find their fish dissapearing.
Only heard of one true situation of one cracking the glass... and that was in a thin cheap tank.
we used to have a coral reef tank with fish and cool stuff and we got coral rock from a place and a mantis shrimp was inside rock. it kept drilling into rocks and killing things we had to give it to fish place. I do remember hearing him say people buy these as pets but I was like who would want one of these things. but now I can see why. I also had a cool eel named snaggle tooth. we ended up giving the eel to a fish place who sold it to someone with a huge tank.
yesterday i allmost got pwned hardcore by crayfish cuz putting my hand in the aquarium. didnt know they were that fast O_o they always walk slowly and clumsy
they can not be kept with any other fish or invertabrate and they shall only be kept in saltwater aquariums with atleast 10 gallon (us) 7 gallon (UK) which is about 35-50l and re-ebfrced glass is recommended as they are know to break their own aquariums
there little shits really but nice and colourful for a lower priced end of the saltwater range of creatures

I thought these guys were pests that come in on live coral and people get rid of them because they are able to crack the glass of a fish tank?

tekinak007 2 years ago
Very rarely. I think the estimate is more than half an inch of glass will do. And its rare for them to attack the glass.
ArnarJohanns 2 years ago
With glass i mean the plastic that is used in most fish tanks.
