I don't understand why you people are so sure about the existence of the hanging gardens of Babylon. There is actually no conclusive evidence of its existence, neither archaeologically, nor historically. It could very well be one more myth about the ancient world.

@ivapino Why not, it is reasonable. A king built a structure and then imported plants from across different regions. This is all completely possible with the technology of the time. And a rich king would have the money to do it.

Thats why in Iraq you get all sorts of races of people living there. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were destroyed by a massive earthquake after the 2nd century BC. Strabo describes the gardens as being built around a sort of step pyramid, which was a common form or architecture in the Middle East at the time.Recently there have been excavations on the banks of the Euphrates River of some substantial 25 meter-thick walls. Some scattered seeds founded around the excavation area which proves that the Gardens did exist after all.

Such a shame there's still no good evidence the Hanging Gardens of Babylon actually existed. For one they are not mentioned by any contemporary historians and the descriptions by later historians is sketchy to say the least.

The Pyramids are clearly the best, building the other wonders must have been a cakewalk compared to the monumental task of building the pyramids.

Also the Pharos Lighthouse stood for 1600 years and worked well during most of this time.

Yazz you point is valid but babybolon and hanging gardans stands 400 years after its earcting time, so I havet have the full knowlege but I guess it stayed at the time of Crist. the second reason it stayed quite long is that when Iranians, captured the land its a history that the city was kept intacted ....
