Roman catholicism is pagan and not Christian it is a continuation of babylonian, persian, greek and Roman mystery religions. One point I'd disagree with you over is your implication that Christians were somehow responsible for slavery.
Slavery was much more a product of greed than religious ideology.
And early Abolitionists--especially in Europe, but to a large extent in the early American abolition movement as well--were comprised largely of Christians, Evangelicals, and others who recognized the moral repugnance of slavery.
Christians have a lot to be blamed for, but slavery's not one of them.

Even if we were to take pure catholicism, widely accepted as the largest denomination at the moment, there are majorly differing views within catholicism. try getting a Jesuit, a Franciscan and a Benedictine to agree to anything beyond the most basic generalisms without requiring a clean up crew afterwards.
