  • I smell a remake coming after this great movie!

  • RIP James Farentino.

  • i love that movie. the one and only bad thing in the movie is that the nimitz can't stop the pearl harbor attack

  • @Lordy243

but its one of my favorite movies too

  • @bahrest2

yes. it's my absolutly favorite movie. and top gun too

  • woah if you really sent a modern supercarrier at that era it will change the tide world war 2 nazi germany wins in europe if America never joined the war because pearl harbor will never be attacked.

  • yes!

  • For heavens sake, still exciting movie even 30 years after...

  • I really love this move, and his main theme too :D

  • YES i have the DVD in englisch and german WOW one of the best movies!

  • AWESOME movie

  • needs reworking... work parts used of the theme... diagram of zero. ect..

  • I listen to this song everyday. :) Thats how good it is...

  • This song is awesome! Right up there with the main theme for Star Trek: TNG

  • ma con tutte le persone, i registi e gli sceneggiatori al mondo...proprio una trama così idiota dovevano scegliere??

  • 朝鮮人使うなよ・・・・・変な日本語

  • Ahhh - brings me right back to my early teen days when I first watched it. For a while it was one of the only 2 VHS tapes I possessed - aside from Star Wars. The score is great, the story is nice enough. The physics stinks, but the action rocks. So does the camera work. Still one of the best. Without virtual mambo jambo computer trickery.

  • a Sledge hammer to a fly! I love it! >:D b

  • My favorit scene also, when the Tomcats "play" with the zero`s.....you can hear the little roars of the zeros, and then the Tomcats with the screaming sounds........if they do a flyby at the zero`s, you can see that one of the zero`s is totally of cours.....Great movie.

I saw it in 1980 in the cinema, and always if i hear this theme...i get the goosebumps.

Great flick, and a great Douglas.

  • @lebbing64 Best part was when the Tomcat does a barrel roll, and looks like it's about to smack into the water. :P The sound you hear is a combo of the plane, and the scream from the pilot's wife when she saw the clip for the first time! XD

  • nice vid. thx

  • Splash the Zeros, I say again: SPLASH THE ZEROS !

  • I remember U.S Navy gave 100% cooperation for this film. So no FX needed. Zero looked real, too. I guess a few still in operating condition. Score is memorable. The story can make your brain explode thinking of all the possibilities.

  • @alexalex3131 There is one A6M still in flying condition and those in the movie were't it. They were modified and repainted AT-6 trainers from WW2. Hollywood's been using them as substitute Zero's for years.

  • @alexalex3131 That's because they WERE authentic zeros. They were on loan from a museum.

  • @MD2389, I think they actually were T6 Texans mocked up to look like Zeroes - the resemblance is striking to begin with.

  • I think they actually were T6 Texans mocked up to look like Zeroes - the resemblance is striking to begin with.

  • love this movie. this made me want to join the Navy. So in my last year of high School i went and signed up. but when they looked at my med rec they told me to go home do to the fact I had bad knees. I still love this movie and the Navy.

  • Great movie ...Saw it when it 1st came out Loved it..

  • this is a beautiful film, maybe the only "aircraft carrier film" in history

  • oops...Navy commercial..but great....

  • Such a great film score by John Scott and a great movie (sort of Nay commercial but still great)...

  • Can you imagine what great fun this was for the pilots flying the Zeros and Tomcats. Two Zeros, two Tomcats, and a camera plane out playing in the sky. Though there are only a couple of shots that have all four of the fighters in frame, most shots are only one or two fighters. Still, I'm sure the guys flying the planes had a great time.

  • the music in this movie makes me cry especially at the end

  • Jap Pilot; ".....What the Fuck ?!?..."

  • lol + back in the day those bastards kamikaze were crazy

  • Nothing more than a Navy recruitment programme lols.. the Zero must have been going at full pelt and the jet struggling to go as slow as possible without stalling in mid air lols.

  • watch this not long ago on T.V. truly bad if fact I watched the whole thing just to see how it would turn out.

  • Can anyone tell me where I can download the entire soundtrack for this film?? It's amazing!!! I've seen the film many times. I have 4 scores from the film including "The Main Titles" which is actually smaller than this video's musical score by about 27 seconds. Is there any free load out there for the soundtrack??? Great film if not I guess I'd better buy it!!! This was the second hardest soundtrack to find I can't even find any link for Mark Isham's soundtrack to "A Midnight Clear"!!!

  • Great movie! Great music! I feel your pain. The movie music that I cant find anywhere is the original "REVENGE" w/K. Costner and Madeline Stowe. The scene on the dirt road to the cabin... was AMAZING! So was the love action. But reruns cut the scene and YouTube plays different music for that scene. Can U help?

    Ay! Caramba!

  • THX VRY MUCHO!

    T

  • Something about you screams "company spy", detroit.

& hollywood HAS asked people online for downloads before - that's how some people have been busted.

  • bought on bluray disk :)

  • does anyone know what's the name of the song when the movie starts?I can't find it anywhere..

  • Now I've got the original trailer for this movie you see here. go to my account and see the movie and be inspired to see the whole movie

  • this is taken or you can say is from

on the DVD it stand: U.S.S NIMITZ LOST IN THE PACIFIC

but behind the DVD booklet cover as is the just stand what the movie is called in Norway, Denmark, Sveri, and finland

bet it is a very good movie from the 1980!! I recommend you see it!

  • This music is wonderful!

But "Texan Zero" is not cool.

  • today is the 7. december 1941xD

  • Does anyone know the name of the OTHER song in the movie, that more romantic one, that plays at the end, when Mertin Sheen is about to enter Mr. Tideman's car?

  • AWESOME movie from 1980!-always loved the theme music and seeing this clip; well I was in NAVY 1984-2004, was a crewman on the SH-3 Helicopter, did a tour on a carrier,(Carl Vinson not Nimitz) and I lived in Oahu Hawaii so...YES this is an AWESOME clip!

  • good

  • one of my favorite movies, i still watch it at least once a year.

  • fuck the fucking fucker zeros

  • Nice one I like that

  • Yeah, if you go often to Honolulu, you would like to f**k them more. That's why we always remembered December 7.

  • stop impersonating some other asshole, and get off the air, your wasting our time

  • Splash the fucking zeros!

    5*

  • i was little when i first saw the movie, but i liked the planes and the music, just like I do today. i also like to play around with ideas of "what if" just for fun. true, the movie is not a very "deep" or philosophically challenging one, but its fun to watch. a big thanks for the scriptwriter for not ending the movie with the obvious "we'll crush 'em" ending! good film!

  • why dumb? its an science fiction movie ...

  • Its a good movie

  • FYI. the speculation of what would happen if a modern US carrier was to meet the Japanese fleet on Dec 6th, goes back to the Forestall class carriers (including the Enterprise) with F4s jets. Say about 1970. By the time it was made into a movie the even bigger Nimitz was available was used. Which by my best guess would have over 10 times the striking power without nukes. In reality, the A6s would never have been sent to dogfight. They would have sunk all of the Japanese carriers using Harpoon

  • As the movie goes. the carrier was supposed to go back in time from Dec 7th,1981 to Dec 7th,1941. I was on board Nimitz on Dec 7th,1981.......nothing like that happened...LOL

Although a few of us wish it did. Yes, things would have been a lot different.

    ie,

No Batan death march,no Iwo Jima ...no Cold War,no Cuban missile crises.ect.

It's aleways been an interesting theory.

  • Alert One, this is Eagle One. What'ya got?

    Two Japenese Zeros, sir.

    Two WHAT?!

  • what the fuck this ..????????

    AUHEUEHUAEA.. FUNNY

  • Have just watched the film as I hadn't seen the film in ages and just loved the theme music!

  • SPLASH THE ZEROS !!

  • i thought this is erope countdown

  • Good music.

  • I remember it when it first came out in the theaters. A fantastic movie for it's time with some real live non cgi effects. And with one of my favorite movie lines "Alert one this is Eagle Control Splash the Zeros, I say again splash the zeros".

  • Epic man, epic.

  • I remember seeing this on tv for the first time with all my family. It was a great movie and i have the Dvd. Just thinking about what might happen if that realy did happen A Nuclear Air Craft carrer going back to Dec 7th 1941 with all of it's Jets. But make it A Super Carrier of Today. Would be Awesome

  • we would have kicked the Japs ass before they even got to Pearl.

  • we would have kicked ass before the japs even before they got a quarter of the way to pearl

  • I believe the Final Countdown was the F-14's first film appearance.

  • A great vid!

  • I Have The move ON DVD And I wats every week it One of the Best move mead My A no name company

  • Ostmusicmix - you got the OST on this? Great Movie a childhood favorite of mine in the late 80's I seen when I was like 9 or 10 for the first time. Love the opening score!!!

  • my dad served on the U.S.S Nimitz

  • My favourite bit is where you can just see the Tomcat stalking the Zero through the clouds! One of the best camera moments ever. No CGI rubbish, just amazing camera work :o)

  • I was on the Nimitz 87-88. Medical Sr. Corpsman. We played this music on the loudspeakers after each underway replenishment.

It was "our" call sign. This was when she was a west coast ship.

  • One of the best trumpet scores on earth - I'm just annoyed to find that this music is a re-recording and not the original from the movie. I hate it when they do that with soundtracks! Another great trumpet score, The Black Stallion, was also re-recorded for soundtrack release and it's far inferior to the original movie version. Why do they do that?

  • Thanks for posting man!The F-14 is such a wonderful fighter and it jive w the music that it looks like a ballerina dancing in the air

  • Great airplane but VERY thirsty. That's why they went away.

  • I just found out this movie's on Blueray! I love this movie, but i don't remember the film quality being that great to start with...

  • Great Score & Movie.... I have it in my DVD movie collection... David

  • I wish I could find this movie on DVD

  • Amazon has it. I got mine there.

  • Great Score, I'm gonna have to buy it one of these days. I know they used this score at the U.S.S. Intrepid air and sea museum in NYC. Thanks for the upload.

  • Help i need help finding a vid like this 1 and it is 10 mins and it is called "The Final Countdown" by john scott help and whenever i search all i c is fucking europe!!!!! HELP!!!!

  • this would make for an awesome remake nowadays with all the other remakes. i like this movie even if they do remake it. it would be cool if they took the idea into an alternate universe of ww2 where the u.s. is losing the war and all the U.S. carriers were destroyed by japan and they find out later that a terrorist or someone came back in time before them to change the out come of the war lol which is why they were accidently sent back or someshit like that.

  • Hell of an idea...but do it with an all Hollywood cast (ala Midway) where the producer marshals the whole industry for the absolute best people for each role. It would be obscenely expensive but people would love it and it would definitely make money.

  • Great movie.

  • totally a great movie
