@devilshomie my take (with consideration of the book), Flo was both struck by 'seeing' Nan for the first time and remembering Lil (Flo's first love who died). Nan too was a bit dazed as this was the first time she sang those songs again - made her think of Kitty who sang this with her. Both seemingly in their own sea of pain and yet together
