this is not so environmentally friendly, this home will last at most 3 generations befor its destroyed as being a eye sore. if a structure had been built modern concrete it would be thousands of years and countless generations.
@datzfast "burning trash and putting it in my soda pop is a much better way of getting rid of tires than actually using it to do something good for the environment, i mean if you want a house you need to chop down 100 trees and rape the earth" its funny how people hate any thing they dont understand, i bet this guy owns an electric car that he charges with power from a nuclear power plant. you fucking idiot, you have alot of nerve to call stophelandis stupid. just go on drinking the fluoride
man those tires are used as fuel for concrete plants, they burn them inside a closed system and the steel belts go right into the concrete. Much better use of
It turns out that 50% of tires still end up in a land fill. So this is a good way to use them compared to that. I think that burning them is also considered somewhat toxic. in addition to particulate, there are heavy metal hazards, carcinogens, and common chemical pollutants. These compounds are locked in the tire until it is burned.
@stophelandis no tire are in an american landfill. it violates federal law. the only exempt landfills are owend by tribal governments of the american indian. your stupid arent you.
@stophelandis Check your facts, the amount of tires that go to landfills is almost nothing. 1-1-12 tires (under federal law) will be treated like electronics in most states. They will be illegal to dump/bury
@mandtconstruct agree in oklahoma thier are but three tire dumps and they are on indian land the feds can do nothing. these crazy indians are hurting the enviornment just so they dont have to work a job like everybody else.
thought you were supposed to use concrete w/ the rebar for the top level to make the plate for the beams... ..or are you doing some kind of hybrid beam system not in the Earthship manuals?
some landfills, city dumps, or local garages that replace car tires - some places actually pay you to remove the "waste" that would otherwise be charged to the owners
We are building in upstate New York. I had some little changes I had to make for code, but in general no big problems. I got the engineering report from Solar Survival on the tire walls, and that satisfied a lot of questions. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

@stophelandis actually everything goes into the concrete. and all the toxins are broken down to harmless co2 which goes into soda pop.

WHY DO YOU HATE EARTHSHIPS?
HOW DO YOU BELIEVE BURNING A TIRE COULD BE GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?

@22nobles google concrete every molecule of the tire is needed in the mix

Hey this is really cool of you to post this. I saw an Earth Ship video about a year ago and I have never given up on the dream of owning one.
My question is about price, if you don't mind me asking? How much does an Earth Ship actually cost?
Thanks again

Where is this building? I am a general contractor building an Earthship in Florida; the codes process has been quite interesting!!!

I want to know more about your project. I will be building an earthship sometime soon i think.

Where will you be building? I have tried to post vids here pretty regularly, but if you have specific questions, please ask.
