My french toast ! This song is by far one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. It's like listening to a less heavier version of Rush. Every band member sounded perfect. Just the way the flute and keyboards built up the sound of awesome until the guitar solo came. Then I was absolutely blown away. Steve Hackett was epic. Everything was epic.
If you want, you can suggest songs, and ill post them. My family put together have over 8 discs, including the platinum collection, so ill probably have it.
This is an absolutely amazing piece. It has everything from unbelievable keyboard solos to the most amazing guitar solo of all time. What more can you say. I also love the live versions, but the clarity and resonance of this studio cut is an absolute masterpiece.
With this kind of song, I don't know why Genesis is not considered as one of the leading Prog Rock band......critics just talk about Pink Floyd etc......but never analyze Genesis' song (at least the old era)
@didit1969 Most analysts do consider genesis the top tier prog band that they are. I don't know any who would say otherwise but they're obviously prety dumb if they do
It does make sense. all of Peter Gabriels stuff makes sense, even though i havent figured this one out yet. Supper's Ready seems very random too, but everything has to do with the Last Supper(Leonardo de Vinci).
is this a havoc beat?

Steve Hackett does this on one of his solo albums. Pretty good and very dramatic, Hackett's version.

I agree, even though im a big fan of the Floyd. Peter Gabriels works are briliant, and should get more credit.

My favourite Genesis piece. Good to compare this to the live version. I'm not sure which I prefer.
