  • I miss Art Bergman and National Velvet, two hard hitting Canadian bands that rocked the house down every show. "CLARENCE!"

  • I'm a never-was, trying to be a hasbeen, trying to make it on the comeback scene...or something like that

  • This guy is punk personified.

  • freakin awesome!!

    thank you, love this song

    art is hardcore

  • Man, thanks for posting this! I've had this song in my head for years, but haven't been able to hunt it down! (Mind you, I'm an idiot and never thought to try YouTube)

  • check him out on luXury bob's 'really nice guy' video... he can still chew the scenery. apparently the camera loves him.

  • That wasn't bad at all. I have heard that his music has been largely overlooked. That's a real pity.

  • Hopefully these recent shows that Art has been doing will generate enough interest to, at the very least, entice a record label to buy his catalogue and reissue his out of print albums.

Art was one of the best musicians that our fair dominion had to offer, but in our usual Canadian indifferent way we stopped paying attention for a millisecond and the record companies made him disappear.

    You're right, it's a real pity.

  • ... anybody can post Chris and His Evil Twang War Of Da Dudes?...

  • If you like this check out his first band "The Young Canadians", in my opinion that's when he was at his height, one of the best three pieces and easily one of the best Canadian bands ever (if not the best).

  • Great song! This guy's records are impossible to find in the US, but this inspires me to keep trying.

  • @mwtoland

Check Ebay. They pop up for relatively cheap once in a while.

  • Art Bergmann is an AMAZING songwriter, up there in the Cancon cannon of underappreciated artists with Ian Thomas.

Recently, Bergmann has struggled with crippling arthritis. The sad thing, for those of us who've seen him live, is that he may never perform again.

  • Last I saw Art - He was working as a dishwasher

  • Awesome! Thanks for putting this up, needs to be seen again and again by all.

  • This tune simply HAS GOT to be considered a Canadian classic. How many other times have you heard a tune that stuck in your head as deeply as this one does?

Great stuff. Thanks for posting it.

  • Art's the (Berg)man(n). Should have been big. Still, some great nights at the Town Pump and Commodre. Thanks Art.

  • Takes me back in time~ Thanx!@@

  • how cool is this. great. thanx thegirl44

  • Yeah, pity about the poor quality, but at least it's there. You have no idea how heartbreaking it is to many Canadians that Art's albums are no longer available. A few reissues would be awful nice.

  • Thank you.

  • Nice 1 LA , reminds me of our late 70s early 80s punk scene in the UK....when i was a lad...lol.

  • I remember requesting the hell outta of his tunes when Vantown used to have a decent radio station in the early 90's called Coast ( 800 and 1040 AM ). Thanks for posting it. Good to see his solo stuff finally being uploaded.

  • One of Bergmanns' finest moments. Iggy Pop meets Johnny Cash ... Wayne Newtown meets Sidney Devine ... you get the idea .....
