Yes, english is considered a global lanugage, but give this guy a break. We europeans have an easy time learning english, because there are so many similarities between english, german, french, spanish, italian etc. in vocabulary and grammatic wise, but asian languages are so different, starting by the pronounciation, and they're rather seperated from the western community on a culturual level. I think there's really no reason to make fun of him for that.

ummm. it's well acknowledged that english is one of the hardest languages in the world to learn. this is because most languages adhere to its rules, whereas english makes it up as it goes along (i.e., there is no way to "explain" to someone why one pronounces "chicago" "SHicago" instead of "CHicago" except that's the way it is).

that's not to criticize moon. rather it's an indictment of americans always expecting everyone to learn english but we make it so difficult.

Well yea, but i think its kind of weird, that most germans are able to speak english pretty well, but most of the english guys arent able to speak german, not even a bit o_o. For example: The exchange of students from 2 different schools, 1 of them is german and the other one is english.
