Hey, I know it can be rough when you get stuck in a rut and feel like you're just a failure, but you are not. You and Jay are a perfect team and maybe you just need to take a step back, try something new, and just find your "happy place" again. There will always be ups and downs with riding, but often changing up the routine can help both you and the horse rediscover your passion! Good luck! :)

Take it from someone who's done the same thing as you, a youngun from scratch! I know what you're saying, but it's just not true. Jay used to be such a pratt when he was younger, mucking you about but look at how much he's grown up. The only good horses I know are the ones who stick by their owners when they've got a stride wrong or had a bad day. Chin up! xxx

He looks so keen about jumping, I don't think you will have any problems with him not wanting to do it anymore! I loved that stop, you on his neck and Jay is blatantly still thinking 'I can still do this from a standstill mum..' starting to lean forwards over the fence, and you are like 'NOOOOO!' quickly back into saddle to move him away from the fence...legend horse. Keep going, this season will be a goodun like all the rest xx

I always love your videos! Don't be so harsh! I have never broken in and schooled a horse to go as well as Jay, so you should be proud! They can't be perfect 100% of the time. you should stop being so hard on yourself! look at it like this, what if making the striding a bit wrong and giving him complicated strides made him the jumper he is? having these strides complicated has taught him to think about how to adjust himself rather than having simple straight forward strides. when you go out sj there is no way every course is simple with easy strides, they are complicated arent they? and jay has the benefit of already experiencing how to set himself up..CONT

He just looks a bit like AHHHH what do I do cause it looks like 1 and a half strides between the middle and end part of the grid. But I can garrentee when the distance is sorted you will both be up and away again :)

i remember seeing videos of jay from when you first got him as a little youngster and now i watch you guys and i'm just like wow what a transformation, it's hard to see sometimes how far you've actually come but honestly you've done wonders with this chap - he's an absolute sweetie and you are too! try not to get too down, bad patches always come but they make the good times even more worth it xxxxxx

Dont think Ive commented on one of your videos before but anyways, dont let this one night get you down! Pretty much the exact same thing happened to me with my old loan horse. We did a lesson with bounces and he, being the complete school master, knew exactly what he was doing and I just managed to mess the whole thing up. Had another lesson a few days later doing the exact same thing and it was the best we'd ever jumped together. You've brought Jay on brilliantly..dont worry too much :)

i dont want to sound like a know it all because your a way better rider than me, but i have felt the same recently, but honestly its you just worrying, jay is probably just a bit fresh and wants to just run instead of count his strides and be clever, as soon as he has calmed down and settled he will be back to his amazing self!
Keep your chin up, you are a fab rider and he is a fab little horse. We all have bad days, weeks, months with our horses. At least one thing is for sure, he couldnt be in a more loving home, because if you didnt love him as much as you do you wouldnt be bothered about one bad session! (plus may i just add, you jumped lovely, and does them good to have striding out of their comfort zone every now and then!) xx

You definitely DID NOT ruin him!!!! Everyone has bad lessons but u just have to forget about them and move on! There are gonna be good lessons too! In my opinion, you haven't ruined him, but if that's really what you think, then keep riding, as you say, it's probably only cos you're rusty atm!!! ;) keep going, you'll be ok :)

i dont want to sound like a know it all because your a way better rider than me, but i have felt the same recently, but honestly its you just worrying, jay is probably just a bit fresh and wants to just run instead of count his strides and be clever, as soon as he has calmed down and settled he will be back to his amazing self!

Keep your chin up, you are a fab rider and he is a fab little horse. We all have bad days, weeks, months with our horses. At least one thing is for sure, he couldnt be in a more loving home, because if you didnt love him as much as you do you wouldnt be bothered about one bad session! (plus may i just add, you jumped lovely, and does them good to have striding out of their comfort zone every now and then!) xx
