my sierra cosworth 4x4 drifts theres a nack in it it took me a wee while to get it back rwd is easyer to drift than the 4x4 i can do it in my bmw no probs. its hard in the 4x4. look at the othere vids of him hes got the hang of it now

the engine specs say its a 2 litre 16 valve turbo cosworth with 550 horses. we dont know what turbo the engine is attached to because hgughuyuij wont tell us the rest of the engine specs. i doubt they changed the pistons as well or the heads.

American Ford escorts are garbage cars as we all know. But another country decided to give the escort a performance engine the COSWORTH engine. If they made Escorts with COSWORTH engines here in the U.S im sure there would be a lots of people wanting them as much as they want an EVO, WRX, S4, and such alike.
Three problems with this video, (1) its a Ford Escort designed for shopping, and (2) shopping cars weren't designed to handle 700bhp, and (3) why is this car not in a supermarket carpark?
What do you drive, if you don't mind my asking? The Cosworth Fords are anything but "shopping cars", as you would know if you ever looked beyond badge prejudice and bothered to drive one. Every road tester on the planet who drove an Escort Cosworth reckoned it was one of the best drivers cars at anything like its price. Even a tired shed of an example will still set you back £10k today. Your views are simply not shared by most people who know cars.
So what? It works. Find me professional road tester, credible motoring publication or even a genuine car enthusiast anywhere who cares. Has a motorsport pedigree that is almost certainly prouder and more successful than what you drive. Which you still haven't answered by the way. As for still using it, why would they? Rally cars don't have to be homologated road cars any more. Modern WRC cars and road cars have nothing in common. The Group A rally Escort was actually based on the road car.

What is that there is a video of a 700bhp Escort all over the place on the road, fighting for traction, torque steering all over the road, and the reason why is the designer of the shopping car, the Escort, didnt intend that meagre chassis to cope with 700bhp. In fact it wasnt intended to cope with 300bhp.

With respect, you are talking nonsense about the chassis. The car only exists at all as a road car because Ford had to homologate 5000 examples for Group A rally eligibility, hence the big laggy turbo. Group A cars all had 300 bhp, and the car was designed with that, and more, in mind.
Every expert I have spoken or read concurs that the Escort Cosworth is one of the few road cars which can have its power output doubled and not need chassis mods.
No, the real reason is marketing wise, Ford needed a rally variant of their best selling shopping car to appeal to the masses (hence why GroupB cars as one offs didnt do any marketing favours) but as it was FWD, the only way they could do this was to use a design of the Sierra 4WD floorplan in a shortened version adorned with the Escort Body panels, abeit with them all dimensionally different.
So basically Ford made an amazing car out of a 90's shopping car and an old Sierra chassis. lol...

I'm sorry, you're entitled to your opinion on whether the car is any good, but the car was designed from the outset to go rallying, and that is simple fact. The first 2500 cars had the laggy T34 turbo which was not ideal for road use, but needed for competition purposes. When the homologation rules were satisfied, it was then optimised for road use with a smaller turbocharger, at the expense of power potential.
No, they were fitted with the T34 as this was the upgrade turbo from the T3-60 trim fitted to the Sierra. Seeing as the exhaust manifold was only available in that time in a T3 footprint. This choice of turbo wasnt for 'competition' use, as nobody used the standard T34 in comp use, it was always replaced, and why fit a 'competition ready' turbo as standard, when you would need up uprate the exhaust, injectors, cams, intercooler, and lots of other parts to use it for racing.
Can you find it documented anywhere that the Group A Cosworth didn't use the standard Garrett turbo? Every reference I can find says it did, including the people who make a living tuning these things.
Yep, all the GpA cars ran a T34 with a ALS 247 shaft, and 360 thrust bearing. The standard T34 has a steel shaft, and 270 degree bearing. Much like the injectors, ecu, fuel pump, intercooler etc, it was upgraded for racing.

Its like if GM took a Cavalier and had BMW have its way with it and make an amazing machine yah it was a cavalier but now its a BMW tuned machine.
plus cosworth works with some of fords engines like the 2.5l in the mercury cougar the is a cosworth engineered engine that could easily kill the mustang.
And the only thing 'Cosworth' about it, is the head on the engine, which has now been superceeded by the improved Zetec, designed by Ford. The complete rest of the car was all designed and built by Ford. The engines were even assembled by Ford after the first 5000 units.

The point being they weren't ALLOWED to change the turbo type, but WERE allowed to modify the internals. Hence it was homologated with a T34, and hence my original point that it was compromised in road use so it could go rallying. For goodness sake, it's not difficult. Read the homologation rules.
No, (a) you said 'standard' and (b) they could use any turbo they like. In GpA there were lots of brands with different turbos - if you had to run the standard turbo alot of cars would be at a disadvantage to the Esc Cos running its large T34, for instance Volvo running a small T3. (which in GpA ran a T3/T4 hybrid - completely non standard)
Thus they made all the cars run 34mm restrictors on the turbos, so it mattered not what turbo charger they ran, they were all restricted. You read.
Perhaps then you can explain why Ford engineers specified a big, laggy turbo compromised in road use, but capable of huge boost levels, and then reverted immediately to a smaller, more responsive turbo with limited output potential as soon as the homologation build numbers had been satisfied.
Because the original YB engine ran a 55 trim T3 on the 2wd Door Sierra. The 4x4 then ran a 60 trim T3 and made a bit more power. The next turbo after the 60 trim T3, off the shelf from Garrett is the T34. Why didnt they just fit the T3/4 that was fitted to the RS500 if it was for 'homologation'? Simply because T34 is the next size upgrade turbocharger in the Garret range.
Also Garret discontined production of the T3 frame sized turbo in the mid 90's, as it was replaced with the T28, so conincedentally probably a reason why the shift. No point producing a manifold you can no longer supply brand new turbochargers for.
Think of it this way, if the Sierra ran a T3, and had no lag, why didnt the Esc Cos simply downgrade to a smaller T3, instead of a total new manifold and T25 instead. Because the T3's were no longer available.
Escorts lean and boat around in standard form. Their saving grace of not going off the road is the 4wd, much like the Sierra before them. 4wd is all to do with grip, not handling. 4wd doesnt stop a car trying to fall over around bends.

American Ford escorts are garbage cars as we all know. But another country decided to give the escort a performance engine the COSWORTH engine. If they made Escorts with COSWORTH engines here in the U.S im sure there would be a lots of people wanting them as much as they want an EVO, WRX, S4, and such alike.

What do you drive, if you don't mind my asking? The Cosworth Fords are anything but "shopping cars", as you would know if you ever looked beyond badge prejudice and bothered to drive one. Every road tester on the planet who drove an Escort Cosworth reckoned it was one of the best drivers cars at anything like its price. Even a tired shed of an example will still set you back £10k today. Your views are simply not shared by most people who know cars.

So what? It works. Find me professional road tester, credible motoring publication or even a genuine car enthusiast anywhere who cares. Has a motorsport pedigree that is almost certainly prouder and more successful than what you drive. Which you still haven't answered by the way. As for still using it, why would they? Rally cars don't have to be homologated road cars any more. Modern WRC cars and road cars have nothing in common. The Group A rally Escort was actually based on the road car.

What is that there is a video of a 700bhp Escort all over the place on the road, fighting for traction, torque steering all over the road, and the reason why is the designer of the shopping car, the Escort, didnt intend that meagre chassis to cope with 700bhp. In fact it wasnt intended to cope with 300bhp.

With respect, you are talking nonsense about the chassis. The car only exists at all as a road car because Ford had to homologate 5000 examples for Group A rally eligibility, hence the big laggy turbo. Group A cars all had 300 bhp, and the car was designed with that, and more, in mind.
Every expert I have spoken or read concurs that the Escort Cosworth is one of the few road cars which can have its power output doubled and not need chassis mods.

No, the real reason is marketing wise, Ford needed a rally variant of their best selling shopping car to appeal to the masses (hence why GroupB cars as one offs didnt do any marketing favours) but as it was FWD, the only way they could do this was to use a design of the Sierra 4WD floorplan in a shortened version adorned with the Escort Body panels, abeit with them all dimensionally different.
So basically Ford made an amazing car out of a 90's shopping car and an old Sierra chassis. lol...

Your analysis of its reason for being are simply wrong. I'm sorry, you're entitled to your opinion on whether the car is any good, but the car was designed from the outset to go rallying, and that is simple fact. The first 2500 cars had the laggy T34 turbo which was not ideal for road use, but needed for competition purposes. When the homologation rules were satisfied, it was then optimised for road use with a smaller turbocharger, at the expense of power potential.

No, they were fitted with the T34 as this was the upgrade turbo from the T3-60 trim fitted to the Sierra. Seeing as the exhaust manifold was only available in that time in a T3 footprint. This choice of turbo wasnt for 'competition' use, as nobody used the standard T34 in comp use, it was always replaced, and why fit a 'competition ready' turbo as standard, when you would need up uprate the exhaust, injectors, cams, intercooler, and lots of other parts to use it for racing.

Yep, all the GpA cars ran a T34 with a ALS 247 shaft, and 360 thrust bearing. The standard T34 has a steel shaft, and 270 degree bearing. Much like the injectors, ecu, fuel pump, intercooler etc, it was upgraded for racing.

Its like if GM took a Cavalier and had BMW have its way with it and make an amazing machine yah it was a cavalier but now its a BMW tuned machine.
plus cosworth works with some of fords engines like the 2.5l in the mercury cougar the is a cosworth engineered engine that could easily kill the mustang.

And the only thing 'Cosworth' about it, is the head on the engine, which has now been superceeded by the improved Zetec, designed by Ford. The complete rest of the car was all designed and built by Ford. The engines were even assembled by Ford after the first 5000 units.

The point being they weren't ALLOWED to change the turbo type, but WERE allowed to modify the internals. Hence it was homologated with a T34, and hence my original point that it was compromised in road use so it could go rallying. For goodness sake, it's not difficult. Read the homologation rules.

No, (a) you said 'standard' and (b) they could use any turbo they like. In GpA there were lots of brands with different turbos - if you had to run the standard turbo alot of cars would be at a disadvantage to the Esc Cos running its large T34, for instance Volvo running a small T3. (which in GpA ran a T3/T4 hybrid - completely non standard)
Thus they made all the cars run 34mm restrictors on the turbos, so it mattered not what turbo charger they ran, they were all restricted. You read.

Because the original YB engine ran a 55 trim T3 on the 2wd Door Sierra. The 4x4 then ran a 60 trim T3 and made a bit more power. The next turbo after the 60 trim T3, off the shelf from Garrett is the T34. Why didnt they just fit the T3/4 that was fitted to the RS500 if it was for 'homologation'? Simply because T34 is the next size upgrade turbocharger in the Garret range.

Also Garret discontined production of the T3 frame sized turbo in the mid 90's, as it was replaced with the T28, so conincedentally probably a reason why the shift. No point producing a manifold you can no longer supply brand new turbochargers for.
Think of it this way, if the Sierra ran a T3, and had no lag, why didnt the Esc Cos simply downgrade to a smaller T3, instead of a total new manifold and T25 instead. Because the T3's were no longer available.

Escorts lean and boat around in standard form. Their saving grace of not going off the road is the 4wd, much like the Sierra before them. 4wd is all to do with grip, not handling. 4wd doesnt stop a car trying to fall over around bends.
