  • @jdogg8830 What a load of complete bollocks please you must of hated the beatles! I trust paul enough to believe that he was simply in shock and didn't want a camera thrusted in his face asking about what he thought about one of his best and oldest friends dying! how would you like it? GTFO troll

  • mccartney didnt give a shit about lennon, he was happy he died cause he was out of his shadow

  • @jdogg8830 What's that then, your little 'reality-show' mentality summary of Paul and John's feelings for one another? If you had one braincell in your head it would die of loneliness you piece of shit. Don't fuck with my idols, you'll suffer the karma.

  • John loved Paul. Paul loved John. Simple.

  • The thing about Paul is he had Linda then and he would have shared everything with her. He was also private about her death and she said very little about Heather Mills too. Paul McCartney is old school, not the type to show the world how he feels. It was John that had sex on camera not Paul.

  • If you think that Paul wasn´t affected by John´s death, just hear "Here today"

  • Ok, people say paul mccartneys a jerk bc he didnt cry! oooo big whoop. Hey some people dont like to cry in front of people.

  • just listen to paul playing "here today" in the amoeba record store. it's on youtube. then you know how he felt and still feels. maybe he feels it even more as time goes on.

  • How did John Lennon die?

  • @Flores28100 He was shot by a fucking idiot.

  • @Flores28100 he was murdered by a crazy fan

  • I remember when my grandpa died, I didn't even cry when my dad told me because i couldn't believe it, it's hard when you get a news like that, you don't cry until later on when you actually realize whats going on.....I totally understand Paul McCartney, cos you don't know how to react

  • Well The first time I heard/saw that, I understood what Paul meant by that comment. Paul and John had been through so much together, and we're so close, you could just imagine how he was feeling. And I mean, would you really expect Paul McCartney to break down into tears and just totally freak on camera? You could tell he was very sad and just wanted to flee from the situation!

  • Of course he would say "its a drag". It had just happened and he was obviously very shocked about this melancholy event (not to mention shattered) and did not want to discuss it with the press right away. Gosh, I couldn't imagine.

  • These guys were 'toughs' and there was nothing wrong with the way McC answered. A genuine person who kept his grief private and personal. None of your business type thing. Everyone knows 'news' is business and nothing personal. Absolutely nothing personal . . . jess bizinez.

  • He looked shocked, tired, and how can you put these emotions into words. I knew what Paul meant when he said that. You can see the pain on his face.

  • he's greyer then, than he is now!!

  • @kevcarspray the magic of hairdye

  • im sorry but the man had just lost his best mate and some reporter saying why are you doing this and what were you doing. The mans in shock annd couldnt be arsed with answering question

  • Thats the media trying to stir up some shit

as usual. I don't think I would have been kind enough to say a damn word at that time other than "get out of my damn way"!

  • Okay seriously, his bandmate and friend just died and they want him to talk about it on television? He has a right to deal with it by spending time alone.

  • FAUL YOU BASTARD!

  • Why did you cut him off?? Because he went off topic? He's Paul Freakin McCartney. I think he has to the right to change topics when he wants too

  • The man maybe in shock and feel sad, but it is not Paul M.

  • you can see in his eyes that he really looks shook up and sad! :(

  • So even though all the Beatles were like brothers to each other, John and Paul were the absolute closest?

  • @Yellow4494 paul and george knew each other since their school days .... and met the others later but they were all together no one was closer to someone more than another

  • @ya0sef Actually I think Paul and John had a certain bond since they were songwriters together although all four of them were best friends.

  • @Yellow4494 well , no one actually knows ...

  • it must be soul-destroying to actually be obliged to break down every comment so clearly and justifiedly sarcastic, as though it were somehow controversial that he wouldn't just stop there in the street and launch into this epic eulogy off the top of his head.

  • RIP John Lennon

  • whats wrong with saying it was a drag? wasn't it

  • lol paul. nice socks :)

  • WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF SOCKS HAS HE GOT ON?

  • @ThisVideoGetsMeMoist They're brilliant, aren't they?

  • Never mind about that shit now, here comes Mongo.

  • @XenoType008 WTF? Paul is amazing, and anything but self-centred. Bug off, hater.

  • Lennon forever.♥

  • John Lennon and Paul McCartney were best friends. John and Paul said they were like brothers they said all the beatles were brothers still even when the band was gone. John Lennon said that so all the beatles were upset so Paul is not talking shit. John Lennon will be deeply missed but if you were really a John Lennon fan you would be happy that Paul is talking about how much he misses him. Lennon fans dont hate!!

  • Yeah right

  • Drag - It's when a guy dresses as a woman. He's talkin shit.

  • @sexypoetry

It's a well known fact (by Beatles fans anyways) that Hey Jude was written for his son Julian Lennon when John and Cynthia were divorcing. He was having a hard time and Paul wrote the song for him

  • Nice sox Paul

  • He was going grey at 41.

  • WOW! these reporter people r all in his face. Even no they really didnt like each other that much, paul still misses him. asking him all about johns death still hurts him even no the fought alot. just leave the poor guy alone.

  • thats one hell of a good Paul McCartney impersonator

  • @cpsrisri123 it was the '80s. nobody had good looking clothes by today's standards.

  • @autumndays55 my new years resolution for the 3rd straight year ..no negative comments and less time wasting here. i may stick to it next year. cheers.

  • His clothes look so queer

  • What did they want Paul to say? What if it were reversed?

  • FAUL MY A~~~..IF THIS HAD BEEN SO...THE GUY SUPPOSE TO BE HIM DIED IN 77 OF AN OVERDOSE.....SO R U TELLING EVERYONE THERE WAS STILL ANOTHER ONE...WAKE THE HELL UP.............THE BEATLES WERE SO POPULAR AND THEY (NEWS) WOULD DO ANYTHING TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF A STORY.....NEWSPAPERS DONT CARE ABOUT THE TRUTH

  • Comment removed

  • HE FELT THE LOSE MORE THAN SOME EVER DID AND U KNOW HOW IT AFFECTED US......BUT IN HIS GRIEF MICROPHONES WERE THRUST IN HIS FACE..HE COULDNT DEAL WITH IT..IT DIDNT HAVE TIME TO SINK IN...FIND THE ONE WHERE HE TRIES SO HARD NOT TO CRY WHEN HE IS TALKING TO A REPORTER AND PUT JOHNS SONG."BEAUTUFUL BOY" AND THEN TELL ME HOW HE FELT.PEOPLE R JERKS IN THE MEDIA AS LONG AS THEY GET SOME KIND OF STORY TRUTH OR NOT

  • If anything, this defense seems more suspicious than the actual quote. It's obvious that he didn't want to talk to the press at the time and wanted them to go away, but his defense seems to suggest he just felt bewildered. Maybe he's worried that saying he didn't want to talk to the press at the time would make an enemy of them, but any rational person with basic human compassion could understand how he must have felt if he was acting like that.

  • You don't have to explain yourself to people. When you do, you're a poor monkey in a cage at the zoo; you're entertainment.

It would be nicer if the she-ape had longer armpit hair.

  • who do you think he wrote the "long an winding road" for? it was inspired by the long and winding road from london to lennons country retreat. mccartney used to drive there every morning for songwriting sessions...but lennon sabotaged this song with daft bass line in a studio...plus lennon made tastless "clap your hands" joke (find it on youtube) and bought bulletproof gear for n.y. cops to reveal his often vulgarly patronising attitude...no one is saint, no one is devil, people are people.

  • @sexypoetry thanks for that info. i often wondered how many mccartney songs were about his feelings toward john. i.e. "two of us" and esp."we can work it out".

  • @markmarktarmann "two of us" is about him and linda eastman-mccartney....i don't know about "we can work it out" but "hey jude" is mccartneys song about lennon, id est mccartney trying to get over lennons loss of interest for mccartney, when he started symbiotic relationship with yoko ono.. yoko was bedded by mccartney just prior to that, though you'll never find explicit proof for that, seems to be yoko-macca telephatic agreement not to ever ackgnowledge this publicly..

  • @markmarktarmann further to the comment written before (though it may appear after this one) lennon has apparently figured out that macca did it with yoko, although nobody could be sure about it, for the reason already mentioned ...but the line "i bet you pinched this bitch" from the song "how do you sleep" (lennon to macca sings) is not really about the song "yesterday" but about yoko ono (lennon did not know what he was really singing, but i am ziggy freud for his subconsciousnesses)

  • God, people are so stupid, paul was filled up with emotion, u mean if your best friend dies and your as famous as he, would you burst into tears in grin of the pap. And just look like a fool? No right? You'd want to get away as quickly as possible and just be able to think, of course Paul was shocked, John was his best friend

  • Fuck he has too explain anything is a load of shit. Only a moron would need an explanation of why he said it in the first place.

  • There is a striking contrast between how he actually said it at 0:15 and how he'd later have us to believe he said it at 0:48. He acknowledged that day that he'd heard the news early that morning, had to have anticipated being asked about it very soon, and had all day to collect his thoughts. I'm not buying the "I was too shocked to muster a remotely compassionate statement" defense. We've all lost loved ones. It shouldn't have been difficult to have avoided seeming flippant there.

  • @andan04 There is a contrast, but having the pressure of an expected obituary of that person for the masses is just added stress to already present emotional turmoil. People handle things, especially something this close to home, in strange ways, I think flippant was just what came out at the time.

  • @TheFunnybone You may be right. Who knows. But Paul was 38 at the time, old enough to know what would be appropriate to the occasion. And of all people on the planet, he should have been media savvy enough to handle this with more grace and sympathy. That he didn't at minimum offer condolences to Julian and Sean (if not Yoko) seems callous, and I'd think that oversight would be embarrassing in retrospect. But he sure doesn't acknowledge that in the later interview.

  • Lennon? You were the weakest link. Good Bye!

  • Comment removed

  • Nice queer socks Faul.

  • @TommYYZ faul? you realize that was a myth spread by people on acid right? if paul was fake you would think the real pauls family would notice? that stuff isnt true and whats upsetting everyones over thinking everything cant people just watch videos and keep their angry thoughts to themselves?

  • @12beckyc Its not angry at all. I find this new subject extremely interesting. Thank you for mentioning Faul's family. There are refs to this in Lennon's lyrics, "go tell your Momma everything" Paul's mother died when he was 14. And that is what I find most interesting. It is the lyrics of not only Sgt. Pep but all the solo stuff from John and George. If you read the lyrics in question with the thought in mind that Paul died in 66, it makes them (lyrics) as brilliant as the music.

  • @TommYYZ Beatles had to mature over night. Not only did their lead singer (one of them) die suddenly, but they had to deal with MI5. They had the weight of the world on their shoulders. Eventually, John was killed, they tried to kill George also. So, if you don't count Ringo, all the Beatles died because of Paul's car crash (George survived the assassination, but probably had weaker health after he was stabbed). Their courrage is documented in their music, including post '66 Beatles.

  • @VojvodinaNet And what ever happened to George's attempted killer? Not much. Never heard about that guy did you? Thanks for your support.

  • your best mate is shot dead, and he's to what? Dopey people..

  • excellent edit with the whistling - come on, admit it a good lookin guy, but one boring egotistical bastard .

  • LOOK AT HIS LIPS

    His face was basically melting

    Fail for Faul

  • Have you ever seen more appalling clothes, dead Lennon or no dead Lennon? Look at those fucking socks, man! And the green sweater with the red-checkered shirt...

  • At least he died on Jim Morrison's birthday, but damn what a loss. Entirly the result of stupid fucking human beings, one in whom thought he was entitled and privilieged enough to mark the end of such a magnificent being. If I ever get the chance, I'll personally stab the shooter to death. I've forgotten his name. Why? Because he was a FUCKING NOBODY. All he'll ever be. Lennon, however. What a life.

  • And also, the press did exactly the same thing to him when George died...caught him in his driveway and pestered him for a comment.

  • @4string59 Yes, but he had obviously been burned before, so that time he was prepared with a statement.

  • Paul said that he cried at home for days. Having the press badger you when your best friend and working partner has been murdered is inexcusable, and unfortunately, part of the being famous package. The poor guy was in total shock when that reporter stuck that microphone in Paul's face. Paul should have followed George's example, and stayed home with the gates locked.

  • Oddly, I heard him, once, give a much more viable explanation. He said that when he and John were (cynical) teenagers, they'd have an inside joke that whenever someone got hurt or into trouble, they'd (cyncially, sarcastically) say "it's a drag." The explanation that I heard Paul say was that, in fact, his "it's a drag" comment was a nod to John. I'm wondering why he didn't explain that here.

  • @crimsonkng1 i think it was a bit more difficult to convince people with that at the time, he probably held it back just to keep it more serious

  • @TwistyMelon7 i'm american and i don't even get why this is so bad

  • Why not end the video when he finishes the topic?

  • you can tell beyond what he said, that he was feeling a lot of emotions.

  • someone changed topic.. it wasnt paul

  • only being able to muscle saying "it's a drag" has so much more meaning and power than some newspaper's well rehearsed obituary.

What's that music from anyway? I like it.

  • @MetrazolElectricity lol, cunt.

  • ok, so lets say that your good friend ws shot and killed, and its been less than a day that you know about it, and some asshole puts a mic in YOUR face and expects you to have some sort of intelligent comment when you most likely just want to be left the hell alone.

Paul's "drag" comment to me comes accross as him saying , "of COURSE I'm upset you asshole" The only person he was being rude to was the asshole with the mic.

  • @XuliusCaesar agreed, u can tell by the way he leaves, how he just cuts them off like, Enough

  • @XuliusCaesar Bam cried when Ryan Dunn died

  • @nevadie133 everyone handles grief differently I guess

  • @XuliusCaesar McCartney HATED John lennon. They hadn't spoke in years! they were not close friends. Paul realised that it was not good for his image to slag off John, so instead he done the opposite and praised him, it was for pauls own interests not because he liked John

  • @kevcarspray you can think what you want

  • @kevcarspray he didn't hate him. they were just kinda awkward towards each other because of the whole mess from 1970. paul isn't that selfish, he was trying to somewhat patch things up.

  • @XuliusCaesar i agree. the media just twists things around and honestly i think paul seemed really shocked about it, and he didn't know how to deal with it.

  • He needs to explain those socks!

  • What a disgustingly insincere cunt. Chapman shot the wrong man!

  • @publicanimal9 No, Chapman shouldn't of shot anyone.

  • @habbopleme no i agree wiht pub or w.e chapman shot the wrong man, i love john lennon, he was my favorite. faul sucks dickv-MWAH Lizz :)

  • @ElizabethMarieTaylor i agree Faul sucks, by the way cunt, who`s Faul?

  • @habbopleme I disagree. McCartney should be shot and asap!

  • Oh I am so sick of it...Love and Hate walk a thin line...Thats what this is all about....

  • Comment removed

  • @JIAsheraw Than why do you even comment????

  • I saw another interview with Paul where he explained that after getting the news he went to work but was like a robot all day. Then when he got home that night he completely broke down and sobbed for hours. It was clearly a case of delayed reaction. The worse something is, the more your mind puts up a defense, and it takes longer to "hit" you. Those people who asked him "what is your reaction" had shit for brains. It was like, "Aside from that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?" Assholes.

  • @kangadillo Thank you, that is what I heard too and I agree, they were assholes to bother him. Paul doesn't need to explain ANYthing!

  • BULLSHIT, Paul is dead, and what he said that day, he was not upset if you cant see that then go to a facken eye doctor mkay thanks, i love the beatles, i hate paul because it is not realy him. - MWAH Lizz :)

  • I think it was also said a little sarcastically in contempt of the press treating as a 'feeding frenzy' another 'big story' - when in reality, someone has died, and someone very close to Paul.

Its almost like Paul saw in the interviewers face and thought ' yeah its a 'drag isnt it? you dont give a shit, you just want the story' - your just emotional vampires!'

And he didnt give them what they wanted, which was to get all emotional or give them a soundbite for there press story.

  • The press are vultures and anyone who criticizes Paul for his comment doesn't have a heart or any sense of human emotion.

  • that is an intense pair of socks...

  • I'd be exactly the same if someone shoved a microphone in my face asking how I felt about my brother being murdered - that's what they were really, brothers fall out. Hate each other my arse.

  • @theraviolicat2Films Come on, hate is a strong word! The truth is they loved each other like brothers! If Yoko doesn't appear on the scene, they never would have split up! In fact, they were on god terms when he died!

  • @gbolt619 McCartney did try to renew the friendship. He went to the Dakota with his guitar and tried to see John. John yelled through the intercom, "What about the fuckin taxes?!?" and that was it, the last time they ever spoke to one another. It ended on a bad note.

  • @theraviolicat2Films

And you are ? You knew both on such a personal, intimate level, that you feel in a position to be able to tell the world how they felt about one another ?

  • @theraviolicat2Films Are you serious? They made up in 76 and talked constantly before John was taken. How would you react if you just found out your best friend, your brother was murdered and were suddenly bombarded by a ton of annoying reporters?

  • 1:15 fucking burst my eardrums...

  • I don't care how acrimonious things had unfortunately become between John and Paul, there is no way Paul was being glib or anything other than devastated about the tragic death of John. Media didn't help things at all when they were fighting and they certainly did a great disservice to Paul on this occasion.

  • So your best freind is murdered quite publicly, you think you're going to want give a press conference. I always thought he handled it with some dignity and restraint. Anyone with and eye or ear, could see the grief on his face, hear it in the voice . He did well. My response would have been ' How the f*** do you think I feel? Now get the gded microphone outta my face and let me the f !ck out of here." And as a rule I don't swear.

  • Poor Paul, I always knew that he was mourning heavily over John's death. They were like brothers and Paul loves him too much to say anything bad about him.plus I love his socks, everyone else can jump off a building.

  • WOAH, socks Paul. I guess we all mourn in different ways

  • Never mind explaining that comment...explain those socks!

  • Now that's what Paul would look like if he would stop dyeing his hair brown. Go grey Macca, you'd be a silver fox

  • @Killuminatiuk Paul isn't dead. It's just a big rumor. But if Paul is dead, Faul is a flipping legend!

  • @MetrazolElectricity 12 people agree. Bad edit. Bad attitude too. Get a life.

  • to quote paul mccartney when replying to bad reviews of the magical mystery tour ..... "suck my dick, faggot!"

  • Paul has no talent? Lennon & McCartney? Probably the two greatest song writers ever.

  • to all those non believers just look at the yellow submarine movie and explain to us why there are 2 paul mccartneys when they sing 'all together now' (also see the link there)

  • faul has no talent. name a good song from his solo career? Ok maybe 2 or 3 even any of us could make a good song if we had money. He was given his fame. people just think its good cuz thats his name. If you woke up one day and replaced Lady gaga you would be considered famous too. Gaga is a guy i think.

  • @childintime12 beatles music was at its best from 67´and onwards until the band split! so if that really is "Faul", he did a better job than Paul.

  • @Micromusecut I agree but his death is what fueled the creativity and lyrics. Lennon and Harrison wrote most of it not Faul. Plus he sings terrible on a lot of songs after 67.

  • fcuk faul i would fight him right now hes a bum. Thjat isnt paul ccartney. All you people do is respong saying im dumb. Use your brain and give me examples and evidence like i give u. Grow some balls and show me he didnt die. fags always say some stupid post to make yourselfs feel better well guess what gay ass faul isnt real. He cant sing. The ther beatles hated him and disrespected him for a reason.

  • @paxsedan its all a load of bollocks. He is a genius. his music is legendary. he is not heartless. he is one of the most iconic musicians on the planet. dont like it, fuck off then

  • @paxsedan Thats because the real paul died. I agree faul has little talents.

  • @childintime12 If he is talent less, then he wouldnt be as famous as he is now dumbass. dont like? fuck off. Paul is alive. Jog on

  • Faul had John murdered cuz he was going to tell the truth and expose that bum

  • @childintime12 Please keep your childish COmments about some pathetic conspiracy to yourself? thank you :) Pauls not dead. never was. hes still with us. you just cant take it. and what ever crappy evidence you have against me, i can prove wrong. so dont waste the energy on a long comment about how im "wrong" and your always "right"

  • @paxsedan .......you are an idiot. do some research.

  • he was on coke in that interview

  • He doesn't owe the media the sweat off his balls!!!

  • I can't blame Paul. Paul and John were musically connected. The bond was closer that brothers.

  • The story is that Paul drove in from Sussex to George Martin's AIR London studios unmolested. No press. So he wasn't expecting any when he left. But word leaked out while he was in the studio and the press was waiting for him to leave. That's why he was caught off guard. He thought he could get back in his car and go back home just like he came in.

  • @observer9670 Thanks for the info. I always thought it strange that he was approached on the street the day after the murder.

  • The English are alot more reserved than us Americans, its the way their brought up. Paul was devastated no doubt

  • They were like brothers, bloody media asking a stupid question. How do you think he must of felt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what the fuck is he wearing ?? jesus !

  • The reporter was obviously a prick just like Paul labled him...

  • McCartney was pasty white. The reporter provoked him. He was being sardonic towards the phony '(let's get the scoop") reporter.

  • It was pretty obvious Paul didn't want to speak to anybody from the public eye about the matter. Its like reporters wanted to get a good shot of him breaking down on the sidewalk in front of the world. What else he suppose to say with all those cameras and microphones lodged in his face? he was taken pretty off gaurd from his best friend's untimely death. We love ya Paul! ♥ Rip John ♥

  • How many remember what happened to Lee Harvey Oswald after he'd shot Pres. Kennedy? (Shot dead also while being led to the court for questioning). MAN! If a reporter had come up to ME asking how I felt about John being murdered at that time, I'd be looking around feeling jumpy, tell him to bug-off,, and just want to get away from them all ASAP! It's a wonder he would say anything in response to such a stupid question, his feelings were deeply painful, I'm sure .

  • its clear that paul simply didnt want to talk about it then. poor guys best friend died and i know he was greiving.

  • you can visibly see that he was in shock when he spoke after Johns murder. it was reported as if he was cold about John.
