Iff we in europe cant unite we will have no chance to compet with China, India, Russia, USA. Too bad we dont have this unity in our hearts like american united states citizens have. @ZM7241994 Freedom is overrated, as long as Justice is there, its all good. But if thats gone, burn everything to the ground and start again, its what Europe has always done.
@YangSing1 I guess it depends on what you consider a country, By my definition, its the area of population controlled by a common government, which describes the EU.
@jamie123ginge I must object . Leaving NATO would mean breaking alliance with US . This would upset the power balance in the world and possibly result in major conflicts as some of other great world powers might get greedy . Yet I agree that EU nations should form common military forces which might be composed of part(50 percent or so ) of member country`s national forces . Fortunately this is happening right now as EU . In 15 yeas we might have a decent sized EU armed forces if we are lucky.
EU is going to fuck shit up. I used to live in the same illusion as you guys did like: " europe is going to unite, less war, unite the people of europe, same currency" That is the illusion the leaders of EU are trying to give us. When the eu is one country, Hell is unleashed. You may not believe it now but the sooner you wake up the better. ( Sorry for bad english )
I understand why the British people don't want to be part of the Euro-zone, just like other European countries that recently joined the EU. But the thing I don't get is why only Euro-zone countries need to pay for the Greek problems. What happened to solidarity? How could you possibly blame Finland over Poland for the problems in Greece?
They have a spending problem, not a EURO problem. It's not that they printed to much money... I think all EU countries should help so we can spread the costs.
@sikjes123 personally i blame the banks and angela merkel. and i also agree with the economists that at this point the greek economy is unsalvagable and should be allowed to default.
EU is a monster.a huge powerfull monster.united europe ? YES! but it needs more adjustments to be a FREE UNITED EUROPE.not like now with self appointed self- righteous beraucrats oppresing ppl.
You can take that dirty blue rag and the undemocratic , fraud ridden, socialist unaccountable republic it represents and shove it where the sun doesn`t shine! Our politicians may be gutless, our people are not.
Europeans.... they think there real smart.. especially "smarter" than "Americans"... Europe is a HUGE step further into One World Government... All Of Europe is already owned by banks at 100 percent and established.. We Americans, Mexicans and Canadians still have a chance.. So Shut The Fuck Up :)
@ViriathusVingathor We Americans are owned by the I.R.S(social security)and the I.R.S is owned by the British Royal Family as stated by publications 6209. The Federal Reserve Prints certain amounts of Dollars that the US Gov't Prints Bond To the federal reserve. These institutions are corrupt and told what to do by various round tables of power, Illuminati, knights of malta, jesuits,Zion. The united States is not a Country, its an extended colony of the British Royal Empire. England owns America
EUROPEAN UNION IS DEAD - WE DON'T NEED EU IN POLAND AND EURO. POLAND WILL LEAVE EU BEFORE 2015 AND STARTS ITS OWN UNION - EASTERN UNION OPEN FOR EVERY MARKET IN THE WORLD WITHOUT STUPID EU REGULATIONS. POLAND WAS FREE, IS FREE AND WILL BE - NO FOR NEW SOVIET EUROPEAN UNION
@DukeCarpeDiem devaluation of a currency is a fraud on people who you owe money to. it's like that: i owe you 1 dollar, but i don't have that much money, so i'm gonna give you 1 yen. if all countries would have their finances done by the book, there would never be a problem like that. how come Slovakia, or Austria have no problems like Greece?
@CommanderMethons Osama Bin Laden has been trained by the CIA & global warming is a hoax. One big vulcano blasts more carbondioxide in the air than humans can produce in 1 year. But off course you keep reading your standard bullshit mainstream media and tv and base your opinion on that.
@myfkkingbush not really. however i am well aware of the effect greenhouse gases can have as well as the scientific theory behind this. im also not stupid enogth to think that weve only been pumping carbon dioxide into the air for a few years. weve been pumping alsorts of gases into the atmosphere for several centurys now.
@CommanderMethons you're right about that still the human influence is very little, the earth has been there long before us and it can wipe us out easily. For example if Yellowstone erupts then it might cause a nice ice age. We've seen what happened with a devastating Tsunami. Species come and go, there will always be some sort of lifeform we can't see bacterias for example with our own eyes but we have invented tools so we can see them. We're only as small as ants and only are a tiny bit of it
Hedge-Funds dinners w/ Soros,Paulson,Greenlight,SAC, MonnessCrespi, etc.,are going on today : after they failed to crash Euro now they are shorting Italy,Spain,USA, etc.,all to profit from it and to distract from Murdoch's hacking scandal (NewsCorp.Prince Alwaleed-Murdoch loses):THIS GROUP OF CRIMINALS TRYING TO CRASH GLOBAL FINANCIAL MARKETS TO COVER-UP FOR ANOTHER CRIMINAL IS....repugnant and evil , time to stop them legally and take their money w/ fines legally, financialtools1.blogspot.com
I hope some day Europe will be a country. Federal Country with one capital city, with one official language which everyone have to now and more local languages. I guess Europe will be the strongest and the greatest country in the world with more than half billion people.
It's funny how all EU haters are always British...have anyone else noticed this? I guess that the capacity to make intelligent conclusions disappears when a group of people live an inbred life on isolated island for several centuries.
Did you Birts miss the message in this video? If you hate humanitarian aid so much then you can resign from the Union and gradually fall again. It's just that next time we won't be helping you. But we want to help other people, so don't stop us from doing so.
@OnlyLifeMatters,I have noticed, and you shouldn't generalise and be so insulting with your comments when there are actually some Brits who support the European Union.
@SLPBritain You and one another brit were the only ones I've seen to support EU from like 100 other brits...the rest 98 brits hated on EU, and were extremely insulting. And the British hatred towards EU is widely known thing. Good if you're abroad with us, though.
@OnlyLifeMatters I'm a proud British subject and proud EU citizen. Although, I think with most British people, including myself, we want a more European confederation rather than an (American-style) European federation.
Regarding humanitarian aid, the UK is one of only nine countries in the union to meet EU development aid goals and we are the only G8 nation to meet and enshrine in law to spend 0.7% of GDP on aid.
@KC253 He never said that all British hate the EU, he said that all EU haters are British. ;) There's a difference.
The British tend to think they are "above" Europeans because of your history. If I was to ask SOME British people :"Are you European?" They would often reply: "No, I'm British/English/Scottish etc".
I think some British still think they have an empire.. ^^ I also believe that some British are embarrassed to be a part of the EU..
@Skyifictionable I see the difference. I think the issue is that most British people are indifferent to the EU whereas those who hate it are very vocal (think, Daily Mail and Express) which gives the impression that the UK is hugely eurosceptic.
On the whole, I think there's a debate the really needs to be had; what do we, all Europeans, want the EU to be: a loose or proper federation? confederation? a mere trading bloc? supranational organisation like the UN? ...
@Skyifictionable [cont] Personally I'd prefer a loose federation with some changes, i.e. merging of the offices of President of the European Council and Commission and to make the "President of the EU" properly elected. From speaking to friends and colleagues, I'd say that's pretty much the moderate majority opinion. I don't think a full federal Europe is really necessary or, frankly, wanted.
@KC253 I for one desire federal Europe. Question is, what kind of federation are we talking about. For me it would be:
Under central government/parliament that has the highest authority.
States could have their own laws as long as they don't interfere with the EU constitution.
Unified armed forces and police.
Federation cherishes all of it's states' culture, but common language would be set - maybe latin? No one speaks it anymore so it's neutral and it relates more or less to most languages.
@OnlyLifeMatters In the UK, a federal superstate will be tough to swallow, the Crown is the source of authority here and Parliament is ultimately sovereign. And for many countries it'll be a massive constitutional shake-up. It will need to be a very slow process.
The language issue is a pain, English is pretty much the lingua franca but it doesn't have the prestige and commonality that Latin has. Am I correct in saying that Latin is already used for official names, e.g. Parlamentum Europeaum?
@KC253 Yes, I recall that latin is already used for official names, in honor of the Roman Empire I guess.
But about the constitutional shake-up issue you talked about, it's not a problem. EU already has the highest legal power, and not one of member state's laws may interfere with EU directive. For example, 80% of Finland's laws are by the "EU-lawbook". So everything's ready. In addition, the financial crisis is forcing member states to hand their power over to EU which strengthens the Union.
@OnlyLifeMatters I think there needs to be a balance of power between national governments and the EU. There is a need for a formal constitution - ratified by referenda in every member state, therefore fully legitimate. Member states need to retain a certain degree of "national identity" whilst making progress to an integrated federal Europe. What that balance is, I'm not 100% sure what is best for the UK, best for Europe as a whole and best for progress as an integrated supranational entity.
@OnlyLifeMatters we are not. Do you really want to threten people to back up your demands of a bullshit union? if you are proposing to force countris into non-exeistence? if thats the way you want to go then their is only one way you are heading and thats civil war!
@gugagagagreprpr Force countries into non-existence? During the Kalmar union Finnish nor Swedish people weren't in "non-existance", even though they were under Danish rule, capital being in Copenhagen etc. They still existed, only their allegiance was different.
World changes, countries come and go. You should accept that nothing lasts forever, and that we in fact should try to embrace the new possibilities.
As I've many times said before, I'd prefer Nordic Union. But we're past that point.
@OnlyLifeMatters you still dont get it, if a country losses its soverty(spelled?) or losses independence, is it still a country? no its not. the people will still be there yes, but they will have lost their nationalety. no WEAK countries come and go strong ones stay forever.
List me 10 things why we should have uninfluental, globally weak Denmark or Finland, instead of European Union that could actually write history? Don't you see the possibilities, what we could be, what we could accomplish?
@OnlyLifeMatters as Denmark nad Finalnd writen history? yes great history!!! has the eu writen history? yes but a very dark, untrustworthy, fraudulent, unreasonable, childish and VERY VERY VERY expensive!!!.
@OnlyLifeMatters The simplest way to put it is that Britain is not a European country. Geographically, it may be, but economically, the majority of British trade does not come from the EU nor do the majority of British expats migrate to other European states. Thus, the effects of a single European currency or governement is almost wholely negative for the UK.
The platform most Brits campaign on is one of friendship and free-trade with Europe, but not direct-rule from Brussels...
@basch2020 the majority of british trade does come from europe with last time i checjed 53% of our trade with them. even given the reccesion this number is unlikley to of decreased much and even if it does go below 50% it will still be queit a big chunk.
@CommanderMethos where are you getting these number from? 11 of the UK's 20 largest trading partners are non-EU and the largest of those, USA, is worth more to us than France, Italy and Spain combined (The Economist, FY10).
In terms of Brits abroad only 1 of the top 4 countries is EU, with Australia having more than the next 3 combined.
If you're a Brit and you genuinely think the EU sanctions and tarifs on our largest trading and cultural partners is in our interests then I'm scared for the UK.
@ViriathusVingathor Leaving the EU doesn't automatically means we can't trade with European countries. Where is that myth coming from??. Whenever you go through airport customs have you never noticed that it always refers to the "EU and Switzerland", Norway too is independant and they aren't cut off from european trade
In fact if you exclude the microstates Norway and Switzerland are the wealthiest european countries per capita and they don't need to relinquish their national sovreignty for that
@basch2020 Never said that trade is over outside the EU.
Switzerland is wealthy due to drug dealers and worldwide corrupt politicians money,it doesn´t count.
Norway because it has a small population and tonnes of oil,its not a sustainable revenue.
If Europe wants to succeed and compete with other powers, simple and intermittent trade and cooperation between nations will not suffice, retaining their own characteristics, they must be constantly united, constantly working together.
@ViriathusVingathor Corrupt politicians what are you on about? Switzerland is 8th place in Transparency Internationals anti-corruption list. far ahead of Italy / Greece.
Swiss and Norwegian politicians listen to their people, compare this with other EU contries - France voted no to the Lisbon treaty - they were ignored, The Netherlands voted no - they were ignored, Ireland voted no and they were told they were wrong and had to try again. This is worse than Nazis at least Hitler had some support
@basch2020 the EU has support and unlike the nazis it isnt facist. or technically a government yet. also the point about trade is that we would get shafted either on tarriffs or membership fees to EFTA.
@CommanderMethos EFTA would not cost 50000000 GBP every day, nor would they hold absolute countrol over immigration, take national parliaments to the ECJ for commiting 'democracy' (a massive crime in the EU) and force 3rd world countries into permanent poverty with uncompetitive tarrifs.....
@basch2020 France the Netherlands and Ireland voted no for the european constitution, the previous version of the Lisbon treaty, treaty, that was reshaped for months, with the help of those countries, specially Ireland, and only afterwards subjected for approval.
EU has a lot of support, just that the ones who don´t support it make more noise, its always easy to blame problems that emerged thanks to national decision makers,on this institution,EU makes a excellent scapegoat for populists.
@ViriathusVingathor The EU has very little support in the UK, Opinion polls to leave the union have rarely dipped below 70% hence successive governments make specific manifesto pledges of referendi, then break those pledges when in power (and thus on the payroll).
Facist, autocratic, nazi, undemocratic, corrupt I can't think of anything good to say about the EU'SSR' and anyone that can isn't seeing the world very clearly.
@basch2020 They arrive at the government and break the promises of referendum, because they enter in contact with the advantages the EU gives to the UK economy, and don´t want to lose them, like 5.5 Mil jobs.
The EU has very little support in the UK,that I already know,De Gaulle was against your joining from the very beginning,as he knew the nazis you are,if it was asked to continental europeans, have no doubts the great majority would vote the UK out,as the EU to get out of Nato.
@ViriathusVingathor Given that the UK fought a war alone for over a year after the French capitulated to nazism, that really is the last thing you could use to describe the British people. A similar statement would be to say the US is non-interventionist or SaudiArabia is humanitarian. DeGaulle was just a deluded ideallist scorned by Frances rejected application to join the commonwealth
When Britain did join, Europe was a purely economic area, vastly different the monstrous entity we now have
@OnlyLifeMatters Funny how people forget how many British servicemen died to free Europe from the Nazis. We would all love to leave the EU. Giving £6billion a year to lazy corrupt Greeks, Italians, Spanish and the rest is not a great idea. We don't need The EU. Fuck you and fuck Europe, bunch of jealous cowards.
@adelaide102 Well good for you. Only 5 countries out of 27 EU countries screw up and you hate the whole union? Seems like the logic of 1st grader to me. France, Germany, Scandinavian countries and North-Europe in general haven't given you any problems at all.
European mainlanders aren't jealous of you. Yellow teeth, alcohol abuse, class society, youth unemployment and being America's bitch may be what Brits fancy, but don't think that we want to be part of that fantasy.
@OnlyLifeMatters The Brits are the smart guys for not accepting the Euro. They win, the rest of us lose. Accepting the EU to have more power is accepting more corruption in Europe. Soon politics will be as bad as in America, if it isn't already. We need a European Union which focuses on trading, military cooperation and international security. Nothing more, no fucking Lisabon treatment is needed. We don't need a even shittier bigger government telling us what to do. Fuck the European Union.
@Thebeastcalledmydong Don't try to raise hell with me. I'm not going to get angry and feed the troll. European Federation would solve more problems than it would create. Yes, obviously it would create some.
@OnlyLifeMatters Because everybody who isn't loving our dear incompetent EU leaders must be troll ? Great logic. Always remember to force the EU policies upon everybody's throats, the EU must grow more whatever the cost, right ? Learn to think outside the box, we don't need the EU constitution. We are all democratic nations. Why does the EU need all this POWER ? Why do we need an extra government ? Because one isn't enough ? It's stupid.
@Thebeastcalledmydong I'm keen to find out where does that pride come from? What makes you so high, so far above all the others that YOUR country is better off the EU? I hate that pride. I hate nationalism, it has given birth to so much hatred that it can't even be measured. Wars are due to that pride, inequality between countries is also partly due to that pride.
Can't you see what EU could be? Think about future generations. They could prefer EU over national states, you know.
@CommanderMethos Think about it, the great leaders of the Allies in the Second World War, Winston Churchill and Charles de Gaulle, gave us the vision of a unified Europe in their speeches demanding for the "United States of Europe". Those men were heroes and visionaries, who gave Europe freedom and resisted oppression.
Now the McDonald's generation is blaming the vision of those noble men as the "new Soviet Union". It's a disgrace, but these kids are probably too retarded to even realize it.
@OnlyLifeMatters I see you want a EU state. So we can have a government who truly doesn't listen to us ? So we can have people in other countries decide what we should do ? So smaller countries can't decide for themselves ? What is your problem with nations there freedom ? We should all throw our national identity out of the window... why ? Because some people want to create a super-nation so we can feel all strong and powerful ? The EU is anti-freedom and I'm not even mentioning incompetent.
@Thebeastcalledmydong How does your national government "listen" to you more than EU one? At least EU had balls enough to grant EU citizens (that includes YOU!) right for the EU Citizen Initiative, which basically means that you can present completely valid law-initiative to the EU parliament, equal to the Council bills, if million EU citizens back it up. EU is the most democratic system in the world.
@OnlyLifeMatters The reason why a EU government would be a disaster is because it would consists out of parties who all come from different cultures and different nations. And yes, it does matter if you are from another country because you live in a different culture, a different environment and experience different problems then people from other nations. It's completely impractical and also remember who will have the most to say in the "EU state": France, Germany and GB...
@Thebeastcalledmydong Also remember that just because citizens can submit their own law-initiative (you can also do that in any EU country, granted in most countries it isn't officially put into the laws but has to be put forward via a politicians even if no politician acts the media attention alone would spark a debate) that doesn't mean that politicians would be forced in any way to actually put the law into practice... it's nothing special, really.
@CommanderMethos If the Scottish dislike being in the same nation as the English they should become their own separate country. It's not even a new idea and if they truly feel like they are losing their national identity and voice. Why not ? But it's been over 300 years since they joined the UK so I think they are accustomed to this situation in this day and age. But obviously the Scottish had to sacrifice something, a bit of their national identity and that's not a good thing of course.
@Thebeastcalledmydong ive come to the conclusion that not only do you hate the EU because it goes against your narrow minded veiw of the world. but your also terrafied of how much more it could do and achiev. how much more it could change the world you belive exsists.
@CommanderMethos Because Europe totally didn't let economically unstable countries into the Eurozone... dream on. We can trust the Greeks you guys... there really nice peeps... These people don't know what there doing. Trading, military and security cooperation is all we need from the EU. Not special EU laws on for example the subject of immigration. The EU had to force the Lissabon treaty undemocratically on us all because they couldn't do it democratically. Hah, what a (sad) joke the EU is !
@Theaverable Given the pro-UKIP bias of the BBC and controlled media prior to each and every election you would think it would be so much easier for them to organise a petition or marches to Westminster to demand a referendum. The reason they don’t, of course, is that they are a fake party set up by the establishment and wheeled out every time to take votes away from the only party that would take us out of the clutches of the EUSSR – the British National Party.
@MattyMMW "Given the pro-UKIP bias of the BBC and controlled media prior to each and every election" haha, did you really just say that with a straight face, how much to join your world ?
@ToryThatcherite Eventually down the line it will cost less as countries like Romania and the Eastern bloc modernise, infact in the long run it will benefit us.The best example is Ireland, they were once a big net receiver of EU money and now are no longer and over the last decade as Ireland's economy improved our exports to Ireland increased by billions of pounds.Spain is another example of a country that is no longer a big net receiver.
I'll let you continue living in the matrix but hopefully one day you will see the truth and will be set free of the machines that are controlling your mind
tbh the EU as a country would own, im english and i dont care at all about our soveriegnty, why would i? the good england is long dead and i highly doubt, if we were ruled by some european politicans, that anything at all would change.
@taurenmilkco you fail to see the bigger picture, but if you dig a little deeper you will see the great similarities. For example political correctness, uncontrolled immigration, Keeping everyone brainwashed/controlled through media and the like, unelected leader of EU and so on. Just do some research you will see what i mean
The only place where it's uncontrolled is the unified border control area, where immigration from outside the area is lower than it would be with independent borders.
The EU has no propaganda or Pr department, as far as I know.
The EU's leader is elected by the Eu parliament. So far, he has no actual power, so it doesn't really matter. If he had more power, he would've been elected by the people and not by the Parliament.
@taurenmilkco uncontrolled immigration- yes visit a local school/hospital/high street unless you are from a more privaliged area then go to any main city. In my local high street the majority are polish/paki/black. The EU has no propaganda or PR department- Thats the thing you dont know. Only they do.The Eus leader is elected by the eu parliment yes but im saying that the general populace didnt vote on who. Brainwashing- Yes there is look at certain religious individuals who offer false hope.
@MattyMMW Please, explain to me why the EU is religious. As you can find out easily enough, Europe is secular.
I responded to the lack of general election already.
I said there was no uncontrolled immigration, not that there was no immigration. Cities depends on external labour since the populace of most European countries can't be arsed to take the jobs they do.
Poland is in the Eurozone.
You seem to be a racist,- what's wrong with black people, then?
@taurenmilkco i wasnt saying the eu was religious i was just giving an example of brainwashing, I am definitely not a racist and care about everyone regardless of skin color i am just giving a fine example of uncontrolled immigration. Yes Poland is in the Eurozone along with many other poor eastern european countries that are dragging the likes of uk, france, germany, spain down with them thanks to the EU
@MattyMMW You realize Brainwashing has never been proved to exist? Ever? Also, it likely wouldn't work if it did. In addition, Poland is in Central Europe, and isn't dragging other countries down: It is in fact providing a low-income labour pool, which these countries' populations are too arrogant to provide. (There was documentary on this: English unemployed refusing to take present jobs and manual labour or failing at them utterly, while they had no other choice or qualifications)
@taurenmilkco Examples of brainwashing: religion, nazi germany, soviet era, and the new one political corectness look them and you will see brainwashing is real. "Tell the sheeple i mean people a lie often enough and it will become accepted as the truth" this in esscence is brainwashing. As for poland it can be classed as central, eastern or both. As poland is a poor country as are many other eastern euro countries, they selfishly leave their home countries and sponge off the richer countries
@taurenmilkco con. yes i watched the documentary that was about foreign labour and wasnt fooled at all by it. In reality the media (which is controlled by the government) portrays that the employers of immagrants only employ them because the british people are lazy. In reality it is because the employers can exploit the immagrants ie. limited breaks, overtime without pay, no insurance cover and payment below the min wage. These are the REAL reasons.
@taurenmilkco yes i am motherflippin serious. The EU is no laughing matter and i feel sorry that you believe the lies that are fed down your throat. I do not wear a tin foil hat if you are reffering to conspiracy theory i seek the truth not outlandish claims made by wackos
If they'd voted, it's hardly a great effort to vote again.
Besides, considering it's the EU, who don't have a very well-managed PR campaign (mostly run by supporters) They probably just genuinely forgot to start a campaign while nationalist groups clung to the opportunity to make the EU look bad, making your opinion.
@taurenmilkco But why should they have to vote again? They've voted once, and they've voted resoundingly against. You seem to interpret all No votes as those of Nationalist Party Members. Did it not occur to you that they are genuine Irish people who consider their country's sovereignty to be important? That kind of thinking was mainstream, until the EU came along.
@bronzerevolution1 I can't believe people are still harping on about the Lisbon Treaty. The Irish voted no the first time round to keep their commissioner and on issues such as neutrality and abortion. The EU commission dealt with these concerns by coming up with the Irish gaurantees. Thus, the Irish voted yes the second time round with a higher turnout and larger majority.Completely democratic,it's really not difficult to comprehend.
@SLPBritain The Irish Government merely told the European Commission what they wanted. There wasn't a real assessment of why the people voted no. The second referendum was good for the Government, but nobody knows what the No votes were for, because nobody asked.
@bronzerevolution1 Truly? What was the real reason then please tell me,it certainly wasn't on the grounds of eurosceptiscism, particularly given the fact that Ireland wasn't even in recession then.No I think if I was an Irish voter and saw that I would lose our EU commissioner that would be one of the main reasons for voting no simply becasue the country would lose it's say around the commission table.
@SLPBritain Well, like I said, nobody knows what the No votes were for. I mean sure, there would have been a group of people voting No in support of their commissioner, but that doesn't devalue any other groups' opinions. Equally, there would have been people against further EU integration and people who oppose membership completely.
@SLPBritain And you should avoid restricting Euroscepticism to economic downturns. It's just that the 'good times' allow the dominant pro-European parties spend more money to influence public opinion.
@dchubad it will take nationalist partys to get into power before that happens unfortunately. They are the only governments to actually care about their countrys cultures, heritages and achievements

In 15 yeas we might have a decent sized EU armed forces if we are lucky.

OnlyLifeMatters 6 months ago
@OnlyLifeMatters I'm a proud British subject and proud EU citizen. Although, I think with most British people, including myself, we want a more European confederation rather than an (American-style) European federation.
Regarding humanitarian aid, the UK is one of only nine countries in the union to meet EU development aid goals and we are the only G8 nation to meet and enshrine in law to spend 0.7% of GDP on aid.
Best wishes and have a good day.
KC253 6 months ago
@KC253 He never said that all British hate the EU, he said that all EU haters are British. ;) There's a difference.
The British tend to think they are "above" Europeans because of your history. If I was to ask SOME British people :"Are you European?" They would often reply: "No, I'm British/English/Scottish etc".
I think some British still think they have an empire.. ^^ I also believe that some British are embarrassed to be a part of the EU..
Skyifictionable 6 months ago
@Skyifictionable I see the difference. I think the issue is that most British people are indifferent to the EU whereas those who hate it are very vocal (think, Daily Mail and Express) which gives the impression that the UK is hugely eurosceptic.
On the whole, I think there's a debate the really needs to be had; what do we, all Europeans, want the EU to be: a loose or proper federation? confederation? a mere trading bloc? supranational organisation like the UN? ...
KC253 6 months ago
@Skyifictionable [cont] Personally I'd prefer a loose federation with some changes, i.e. merging of the offices of President of the European Council and Commission and to make the "President of the EU" properly elected. From speaking to friends and colleagues, I'd say that's pretty much the moderate majority opinion. I don't think a full federal Europe is really necessary or, frankly, wanted.
Have a good day.
KC253 6 months ago
@KC253 I for one desire federal Europe. Question is, what kind of federation are we talking about. For me it would be:
Under central government/parliament that has the highest authority.
States could have their own laws as long as they don't interfere with the EU constitution.
Unified armed forces and police.
Federation cherishes all of it's states' culture, but common language would be set - maybe latin? No one speaks it anymore so it's neutral and it relates more or less to most languages.
OnlyLifeMatters 5 months ago
@OnlyLifeMatters In the UK, a federal superstate will be tough to swallow, the Crown is the source of authority here and Parliament is ultimately sovereign. And for many countries it'll be a massive constitutional shake-up. It will need to be a very slow process.
The language issue is a pain, English is pretty much the lingua franca but it doesn't have the prestige and commonality that Latin has. Am I correct in saying that Latin is already used for official names, e.g. Parlamentum Europeaum?
KC253 5 months ago
@KC253 Yes, I recall that latin is already used for official names, in honor of the Roman Empire I guess.
But about the constitutional shake-up issue you talked about, it's not a problem. EU already has the highest legal power, and not one of member state's laws may interfere with EU directive. For example, 80% of Finland's laws are by the "EU-lawbook". So everything's ready. In addition, the financial crisis is forcing member states to hand their power over to EU which strengthens the Union.
OnlyLifeMatters 5 months ago
@OnlyLifeMatters I think there needs to be a balance of power between national governments and the EU. There is a need for a formal constitution - ratified by referenda in every member state, therefore fully legitimate. Member states need to retain a certain degree of "national identity" whilst making progress to an integrated federal Europe. What that balance is, I'm not 100% sure what is best for the UK, best for Europe as a whole and best for progress as an integrated supranational entity.
KC253 5 months ago
@OnlyLifeMatters we are not. Do you really want to threten people to back up your demands of a bullshit union? if you are proposing to force countris into non-exeistence? if thats the way you want to go then their is only one way you are heading and thats civil war!
gugagagagreprpr 5 months ago
@gugagagagreprpr Force countries into non-existence? During the Kalmar union Finnish nor Swedish people weren't in "non-existance", even though they were under Danish rule, capital being in Copenhagen etc. They still existed, only their allegiance was different.
World changes, countries come and go. You should accept that nothing lasts forever, and that we in fact should try to embrace the new possibilities.
As I've many times said before, I'd prefer Nordic Union. But we're past that point.
OnlyLifeMatters 5 months ago
@OnlyLifeMatters you still dont get it, if a country losses its soverty(spelled?) or losses independence, is it still a country? no its not. the people will still be there yes, but they will have lost their nationalety. no WEAK countries come and go strong ones stay forever.

gugagagagreprpr 5 months ago
@OnlyLifeMatters The simplest way to put it is that Britain is not a European country. Geographically, it may be, but economically, the majority of British trade does not come from the EU nor do the majority of British expats migrate to other European states. Thus, the effects of a single European currency or governement is almost wholely negative for the UK.
The platform most Brits campaign on is one of friendship and free-trade with Europe, but not direct-rule from Brussels...
basch2020 4 months ago
@basch2020 the majority of british trade does come from europe with last time i checjed 53% of our trade with them. even given the reccesion this number is unlikley to of decreased much and even if it does go below 50% it will still be queit a big chunk.
CommanderMethos 4 months ago
@CommanderMethos where are you getting these number from? 11 of the UK's 20 largest trading partners are non-EU and the largest of those, USA, is worth more to us than France, Italy and Spain combined (The Economist, FY10).
In terms of Brits abroad only 1 of the top 4 countries is EU, with Australia having more than the next 3 combined.
If you're a Brit and you genuinely think the EU sanctions and tarifs on our largest trading and cultural partners is in our interests then I'm scared for the UK.
basch2020 4 months ago

Just with Holland alone the UK has more trade than with the whole of its commonwealth.
ViriathusVingathor 4 months ago
@ViriathusVingathor Leaving the EU doesn't automatically means we can't trade with European countries. Where is that myth coming from??. Whenever you go through airport customs have you never noticed that it always refers to the "EU and Switzerland", Norway too is independant and they aren't cut off from european trade
In fact if you exclude the microstates Norway and Switzerland are the wealthiest european countries per capita and they don't need to relinquish their national sovreignty for that
basch2020 3 months ago
@basch2020 Never said that trade is over outside the EU.
Switzerland is wealthy due to drug dealers and worldwide corrupt politicians money,it doesn´t count.
Norway because it has a small population and tonnes of oil,its not a sustainable revenue.
If Europe wants to succeed and compete with other powers, simple and intermittent trade and cooperation between nations will not suffice, retaining their own characteristics, they must be constantly united, constantly working together.
ViriathusVingathor 3 months ago
@ViriathusVingathor Corrupt politicians what are you on about? Switzerland is 8th place in Transparency Internationals anti-corruption list. far ahead of Italy / Greece.
Swiss and Norwegian politicians listen to their people, compare this with other EU contries - France voted no to the Lisbon treaty - they were ignored, The Netherlands voted no - they were ignored, Ireland voted no and they were told they were wrong and had to try again. This is worse than Nazis at least Hitler had some support
basch2020 3 months ago
@basch2020 the EU has support and unlike the nazis it isnt facist. or technically a government yet. also the point about trade is that we would get shafted either on tarriffs or membership fees to EFTA.
CommanderMethos 3 months ago
@CommanderMethos EFTA would not cost 50000000 GBP every day, nor would they hold absolute countrol over immigration, take national parliaments to the ECJ for commiting 'democracy' (a massive crime in the EU) and force 3rd world countries into permanent poverty with uncompetitive tarrifs.....
basch2020 3 months ago
@basch2020 we dont pay 50 mill a day to be in the EU. that is a gross exaggeration. sounds like something ukip would come up with. or the telegraph.
CommanderMethos 3 months ago
@basch2020 France the Netherlands and Ireland voted no for the european constitution, the previous version of the Lisbon treaty, treaty, that was reshaped for months, with the help of those countries, specially Ireland, and only afterwards subjected for approval.
EU has a lot of support, just that the ones who don´t support it make more noise, its always easy to blame problems that emerged thanks to national decision makers,on this institution,EU makes a excellent scapegoat for populists.
ViriathusVingathor 3 months ago
@ViriathusVingathor The EU has very little support in the UK, Opinion polls to leave the union have rarely dipped below 70% hence successive governments make specific manifesto pledges of referendi, then break those pledges when in power (and thus on the payroll).
Facist, autocratic, nazi, undemocratic, corrupt I can't think of anything good to say about the EU'SSR' and anyone that can isn't seeing the world very clearly.
basch2020 3 months ago
@basch2020 They arrive at the government and break the promises of referendum, because they enter in contact with the advantages the EU gives to the UK economy, and don´t want to lose them, like 5.5 Mil jobs.
The EU has very little support in the UK,that I already know,De Gaulle was against your joining from the very beginning,as he knew the nazis you are,if it was asked to continental europeans, have no doubts the great majority would vote the UK out,as the EU to get out of Nato.
ViriathusVingathor 3 months ago
@ViriathusVingathor Given that the UK fought a war alone for over a year after the French capitulated to nazism, that really is the last thing you could use to describe the British people. A similar statement would be to say the US is non-interventionist or SaudiArabia is humanitarian. DeGaulle was just a deluded ideallist scorned by Frances rejected application to join the commonwealth
When Britain did join, Europe was a purely economic area, vastly different the monstrous entity we now have

OnlyLifeMatters 3 months ago
@OnlyLifeMatters I see you want a EU state. So we can have a government who truly doesn't listen to us ? So we can have people in other countries decide what we should do ? So smaller countries can't decide for themselves ? What is your problem with nations there freedom ? We should all throw our national identity out of the window... why ? Because some people want to create a super-nation so we can feel all strong and powerful ? The EU is anti-freedom and I'm not even mentioning incompetent.
Thebeastcalledmydong 3 months ago
@Thebeastcalledmydong How does your national government "listen" to you more than EU one? At least EU had balls enough to grant EU citizens (that includes YOU!) right for the EU Citizen Initiative, which basically means that you can present completely valid law-initiative to the EU parliament, equal to the Council bills, if million EU citizens back it up. EU is the most democratic system in the world.
Govs are what prohibits EU from functioning.
PS. we'd be just as free, if not freer in EU.
OnlyLifeMatters 3 months ago
@OnlyLifeMatters The reason why a EU government would be a disaster is because it would consists out of parties who all come from different cultures and different nations. And yes, it does matter if you are from another country because you live in a different culture, a different environment and experience different problems then people from other nations. It's completely impractical and also remember who will have the most to say in the "EU state": France, Germany and GB...
Thebeastcalledmydong 3 months ago
@Thebeastcalledmydong Also remember that just because citizens can submit their own law-initiative (you can also do that in any EU country, granted in most countries it isn't officially put into the laws but has to be put forward via a politicians even if no politician acts the media attention alone would spark a debate) that doesn't mean that politicians would be forced in any way to actually put the law into practice... it's nothing special, really.

For example political correctness, uncontrolled immigration, Keeping everyone brainwashed/controlled through media and the like, unelected leader of EU and so on. Just do some research you will see what i mean
MattyMMW 8 months ago
@MattyMMW uncontrolled immigration? hardly.
No such thing as brainwashing
taurenmilkco 8 months ago
@taurenmilkco uncontrolled immigration- yes visit a local school/hospital/high street unless you are from a more privaliged area then go to any main city. In my local high street the majority are polish/paki/black. The EU has no propaganda or PR department- Thats the thing you dont know. Only they do.The Eus leader is elected by the eu parliment yes but im saying that the general populace didnt vote on who. Brainwashing- Yes there is look at certain religious individuals who offer false hope.
MattyMMW 8 months ago
@MattyMMW Please, explain to me why the EU is religious. As you can find out easily enough, Europe is secular.
I responded to the lack of general election already.
I said there was no uncontrolled immigration, not that there was no immigration. Cities depends on external labour since the populace of most European countries can't be arsed to take the jobs they do.
Poland is in the Eurozone.
You seem to be a racist,- what's wrong with black people, then?
They don't have PR, just supporters. eg Me.
taurenmilkco 8 months ago
@taurenmilkco i wasnt saying the eu was religious i was just giving an example of brainwashing, I am definitely not a racist and care about everyone regardless of skin color i am just giving a fine example of uncontrolled immigration. Yes Poland is in the Eurozone along with many other poor eastern european countries that are dragging the likes of uk, france, germany, spain down with them thanks to the EU
MattyMMW 8 months ago
@MattyMMW You realize Brainwashing has never been proved to exist? Ever? Also, it likely wouldn't work if it did. In addition, Poland is in Central Europe, and isn't dragging other countries down: It is in fact providing a low-income labour pool, which these countries' populations are too arrogant to provide. (There was documentary on this: English unemployed refusing to take present jobs and manual labour or failing at them utterly, while they had no other choice or qualifications)
taurenmilkco 7 months ago
@taurenmilkco Examples of brainwashing: religion, nazi germany, soviet era, and the new one political corectness look them and you will see brainwashing is real. "Tell the sheeple i mean people a lie often enough and it will become accepted as the truth" this in esscence is brainwashing. As for poland it can be classed as central, eastern or both. As poland is a poor country as are many other eastern euro countries, they selfishly leave their home countries and sponge off the richer countries
MattyMMW 7 months ago
@taurenmilkco con. yes i watched the documentary that was about foreign labour and wasnt fooled at all by it. In reality the media (which is controlled by the government) portrays that the employers of immagrants only employ them because the british people are lazy. In reality it is because the employers can exploit the immagrants ie. limited breaks, overtime without pay, no insurance cover and payment below the min wage. These are the REAL reasons.

@MattyMMW Are you motherfucking serious?
I'm gonna stop feeding the troll now;
either that or you wear a tinfoil hat.
taurenmilkco 7 months ago
@taurenmilkco yes i am motherflippin serious. The EU is no laughing matter and i feel sorry that you believe the lies that are fed down your throat. I do not wear a tin foil hat if you are reffering to conspiracy theory i seek the truth not outlandish claims made by wackos
MattyMMW 7 months ago
@MattyMMW The media is a private company.
Are you entirely fucking retarded?
Please, for the love of nonexistent god, LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE POSTED.
You're the wacko.
taurenmilkco 6 months ago
@taurenmilkco continued. Tell the people what you want them to here enough and the majority will believe it. Seeing is believing not hearing.

Take you as an example, you're doing the equivalent of sticking coriander in your ears and going: "NYA NYA".
Please find a counter-argument(s) to mine or kindly stop posting and concede.
Thank you.

@taurenmilkco Brainwashing? As in... the way the EU neglects the referendum results and forces people to conform to their policy?
bronzerevolution1 8 months ago 3
@bronzerevolution1 Neglects referendum?
Hardly.
The reason why you *think* the EU ignores the popular vote is because you are not in the popular vote.

bronzerevolution1 8 months ago
@bronzerevolution1 Wonderful.
And guess what?
The Lissabon treaty was not accepted.
So, your point is STILL invalid.
taurenmilkco 8 months ago
@taurenmilkco Not sure what you're thinking.
They then created a second referendum campaign, with massive funding for the yes campaign. That's hardly respectful for those who have already voted.
bronzerevolution1 8 months ago
@bronzerevolution1 And?
No 'ffence.
taurenmilkco 8 months ago
@taurenmilkco But why should they have to vote again? They've voted once, and they've voted resoundingly against. You seem to interpret all No votes as those of Nationalist Party Members. Did it not occur to you that they are genuine Irish people who consider their country's sovereignty to be important? That kind of thinking was mainstream, until the EU came along.
bronzerevolution1 8 months ago
@bronzerevolution1 I can't believe people are still harping on about the Lisbon Treaty. The Irish voted no the first time round to keep their commissioner and on issues such as neutrality and abortion. The EU commission dealt with these concerns by coming up with the Irish gaurantees. Thus, the Irish voted yes the second time round with a higher turnout and larger majority.Completely democratic,it's really not difficult to comprehend.
SLPBritain 7 months ago
@SLPBritain The Irish Government merely told the European Commission what they wanted. There wasn't a real assessment of why the people voted no. The second referendum was good for the Government, but nobody knows what the No votes were for, because nobody asked.
bronzerevolution1 7 months ago
@bronzerevolution1 Truly? What was the real reason then please tell me,it certainly wasn't on the grounds of eurosceptiscism, particularly given the fact that Ireland wasn't even in recession then.No I think if I was an Irish voter and saw that I would lose our EU commissioner that would be one of the main reasons for voting no simply becasue the country would lose it's say around the commission table.
SLPBritain 7 months ago
@SLPBritain Well, like I said, nobody knows what the No votes were for. I mean sure, there would have been a group of people voting No in support of their commissioner, but that doesn't devalue any other groups' opinions. Equally, there would have been people against further EU integration and people who oppose membership completely.
bronzerevolution1 7 months ago
@SLPBritain And you should avoid restricting Euroscepticism to economic downturns. It's just that the 'good times' allow the dominant pro-European parties spend more money to influence public opinion.
bronzerevolution1 7 months ago
cant wait until countrys start to pull out of the EU, wont be long now :)
dchubad 8 months ago
@dchubad you severely overestimate how quickly beaurochracy moves. and underestimate media hype.
CommanderMethons 8 months ago
@dchubad Too late.
Even Britain, the isolationlist bastards, can't pull out.
Why do you even oppose an instrument of peace?
taurenmilkco 8 months ago
@taurenmilkco How are the British isolationist bastards?
bronzerevolution1 8 months ago
@dchubad it will take nationalist partys to get into power before that happens unfortunately. They are the only governments to actually care about their countrys cultures, heritages and achievements
