  • when you want to sell tha case im yur guy

  • I bought an imac a year ago and I love it, but i wish I made my own hackintosh like you have.

  • That's pretty spiffy! I do think you should switch out the green for a blacklight. It would look ambient and eerie. Other then that I thought this was pretty sweet!

  • LOL...Just like a PC user to stick a bunch of LED fans into a case...WHY WHY WHY

  • DUDE! FUCKING AYREON. HELL. YES.

  • have u updated any since? working with a g5 case now...deciding on a motherboard microatx or atx mobo? any recommendations

  • @AdamakaTai no, i've dismantled the whole thing until i get some time to do a definitive work with that case.

g5 case is hard to mod but many have done a nice job, judging on what we can see online on many hackintosh communities.

if i had to choose right now, i would go on micro atx. it's best feasable to put inside a modded case.

  • cool mod but I'd loose the lights, on a gaming case they look cool but on a Mac Pro case they just look silly

  • That styrofoam HDD system is fucking mint... Not. I'd like to see the whole thing well lit, hopefully it isn't all as junky as what I noticed.

  • @Ben333bacc it's all as junky as you noticed. I don't have time to spend on this machine, I use it to program on iPhone SDK so when I've my 10.6.5 up&running I'm ok.

  • I would have never bought a Mac until I hackintoshed my pc

  • This is awesome. I want to do this with my computer, but from what I've seen it's tons of work to get everything fitted into one. Oh well, my CM 690 II does it's job just as well.

  • Yes you can buy them off of eBay

  • @TheAlbinoApple yes £169

  • Thats nice but without the lights it would be Perfect but very good job!

  • thats an mac pro case, because the powermac g5 case only had 1 optical drive bay in all models !!

btw very nice work !1 :D

keep up with hackintosh world :D :P

  • @TopOfTheTech

Haha jks... i did the same thing as you... just ordered some stuff from amazon for the same price as a macbook .... 4 times the speed, memory ..etc.... and i am thinking about running snow leopard , but since i have an iMac ... no point i guess. :P

PS- can you buy the mac pro case seperately?

  • @TopOfTheTech & pay their overpriced prices ?

  • im pretty sure thats a g5 case and not a mac pro

  • @laynesamba I'm pretty sure you're wrong. In facts, if you look at the front panel you will see a dual DVD slot and not only one. So it's a Mac Pro.

  • @MrBallocchi thanks for the correction. i thought dual dvd slot was a g5 thing. oops looks like i got them mixed up

  • where did you buy the case

  • i bet ebay

  • @yofootball127 hey dont call all us mac users fags cussa this idiot. He should learn his facts.

  • awsome man thats a tank

  • well done, do your thang and let the metrosexual apple folks talk what they want

  • I agree.

  • get rid of the lights! they suck. lol

  • @sillychicken599

    or some nicer lights

  • i just put an apple sticker on my acer aspire one, whoa.. it's apple branded! i'm not breaking the EULA by running OSX on it (=

  • hi mr ballocchi does the case support ATX motherboards and also does it have enough room for a full size gaming card i.e. GTX 260

    thanks

  • 1- no, you need some work to put an atx motherboard in

2-yes there's plenty of room but you need to secure the vga in some way because there are no screws to let it stay horizontal

3-in the end, if you want it just buy it and think about some ways to let it work, that's all ;)

  • Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

  • NO, You killed a Mac! I cant even watch. Ugh, just makes me winder where the rest of the Mac is. Although it most likely is not a Mac Pro case. It is probably a PowerMac G5 case.

  • no, it's not a powermac g5 case, it's a mac pro case.

i know the differences, g5 cases need heavy mods to have a motherboard fitted, while mac pro ones need few minor things to do.

you can see on front of the case there are 2 slots for optical drive, so it's a mac pro case.

I did not kill anything. I just bought a case with some flats inside, stop. The guy who was selling did not tell me why he only were selling the cases, but i didnt care. i just wanted a mac pro case, and i have it

  • where did you get the case?

  • on a forum sale, as i previously said

  • you know that is perfectly legal. In the Apple EULA it says their OS has to be installed on an apple branded computer.... and he's using an official Mac Pro case. Ergo.... legal as can be.

  • COMPUTER not CASE, i dont think that this is legal

  • I thought about what you said but how do you brand an OS. That's why you can't install OS 10 on anyhting other than a mac. A Mac is simply an Apple computer (or at least case) and their OS. I think this is fine.

  • as far as i can understand, in the USA it is not legal, in italy if you have a regular copy of Leopard it seems you can run it wherever you want. i repeat, i'm not sure about this, but i even don't care much about this

  • that uhm yes it says apple brand computer

a case doesnt make a computer

so its still illegal and hes downloading the program illegally so

    shuddup! =] jk

  • i have a regular and original copy of OSX Leopard, regularly bought in a shop.

  • umm... yes it does you retard. as long as he's using his bought copy of leopard, he can install it on any computer he wants

  • Comment removed

  • LOL, you're stupid. in terms of copyright law, the owner can install leopard on whatever machine he wants to install it in! the owner has a legal right! and you break a EULA agreement by installing OS X on PC hardware. technically, that's not breaking the law!

  • you are right, but you don't live in Italy. here, technically and legally speaking, if you have a regular OSX license with original DVD you can install it wherever you want. in the USA there is the Psystar case that is bringing up the fight with apple on this particular battle.

there are laws in every state and apple EULA sometimes cannot override the state law.

  • ps: take those words as unofficial, because i asked a guy who works for apple and he replied me in this way. so i don't really know if it's true or not, but as far as i can read and understand talking with people here, if i own a regular copy of leopard i can install it where i want.

also, please be more polite next time when you talk, you work for apple, apple is smart and polite, so please be smart. thanks

  • you dont work at apple

    lol

apple employees get a discounted mac.

a macbook pro 2.53ghz for 1700 would only cost us employees 800

    2nd

puting an apple sticker on it

    does not make it legal

  • @jonsutubechannel:

That says a hell of a lot about how Apple over-charges their customers for their PC's.

    2nd:

I know alot of Mac users that buy a single-licence and install on several Mac's.

Thats not allowed in the EULA either.

    But who cares?

I just want to thank Apple for practically giving away Snow Leopard.

I've never payed so little for a OS. ;)

  • 1. maybe they do charge more for there computers. But your either with mac or against mac. get over it

    2. Of course people by the single license and install it. I know its illegal!

my point is that its illegal to install hackintosh because it goes against apples EULA. they just dont think that its illegal. im not saying DONT do it. because ive tried it out before i got my mac.

well it was more of an update than a new os haha

  • @jonsutubechannel

Well I can live with both mac os x for almost everything and windos for java coding and gaming

  • Where can I buy a case like that? Message me where you go it.

  • on ebay or on some hardware forum on internet

  • does it fit any motherboard?

  • as i said, it needs heavy mods to fit a motherboard, so i did not fix it with screws, i fixed it with some rubber and stryfoam

  • thats sick! whered you get the case?

  • on a forum for about 70$

  • hey, I have the same mobo, as you, just wanted to know what drivers you selected and what type of hackintosh you used?

P.S: Does the audio, all of that other stuff work?

  • look on insanelymac, there's an unofficial p5q series thread with all drivers, also audio works!

  • hey do the usb's firewire and power switches work on the case? Just plug it in? From what i've heard you need to do some modding to make the power button work and everything.

  • sure, it has a different connector so you need to solder a wire to the motherboard.

    just a 5 minute work.

  • That's cool. How did you mount the motherboard? Did you have to cut any holes in the back for the inputs/outputs

  • you would have to cut a good amount of things if you want to secure the motherboard in the proper way.

anyway, I did NO cuts and mods, i just put the motherboard inside and fixed it with some rubber some inches away from the rear panel, so you can still plug the usb/fw/audio plugs even if they're far from the rear cover. the only problem i got was for the vga card, it's quite heavy and without the support of the rear case mounting it was not well secured so I built a rack with Lego and put it in

  • So you would be one of those people they call a "poser!" LOL get a Mac cheapo.

  • you can call me in any way you want, I don't have 3000€ right now for a computer, when i'll get some in the future i'll buy a real Mac pro.

for now, i go with this one, in the end it works well

  • how did you get the case?

  • i was lucky to get one for sale on a forum

  • Did you have to go through many workarounds to fit everything inside? I am thinking of doing this but if it's too much trouble I'll just get a normal case.

  • as I said, I did NO mods on this case. just put things inside and power on them. if you want to mod it, the first thing you have to do is to cut the rear panel to fit the motherboard connections.

  • hey the go on ebay for about 200 or less if you find good deals. search "g5 enclosure"

  • Thanks for the info but I don't need it maybe in the future

  • i got it for 50€ plus 10 shipping, which is almost 80$ i think.

  • pretty good

  • looks awesome
