He's saying that the ancients had a different concept of art. To them art is a craft, a particular skill which requires knowledge and can benefit many people. But to engage in such a transaction- be it a physician or pilot- one must trust another because he/she has a skill that the person does not possess. They take the risk to obtain a greater benefit. He's explaining a different concept from our modern notion of art.
I like that idea very much. I think my notion of art e.g. music - is similar however - i mean music can hold great benefits for many people, it just depends if they submit to it. I mean Mozart, Luigi Russolo, Stravinsky, Aphex Twin have all taken risks that have resulted in people going 'whats that noise - help!' But ultimately it helped open ears and minds to obtain greater sonic benefits e.g. listening more.
@stuartjamesgemmell Yes, three years ago, asking if there was a part three to the video that went being 'common sense.' Check it out, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
Hmmm, this describes many things. Patient=neophyte. Master/disciple. On and on. These videos are quite a benefit, hence my sitting here watching instead of sleeping or studying for my exam! :-) Thanx!

so this has nothing to do with art as in painting a picture? Basically knowledge is important to help us? What does that have to do with art

In my opinion they would save a lot of trouble if they instead translated the greek techné to craft, instead of art.
