Bless you Any for being with us for so so short a time, and you are still the best ! Wtth love to you in the stars . And love and light and all good things dear heart.
Fabulous. I have lost track of how many times I have watched her sing 'Teach me Tonight'. She looked happy and healthy here with everything in front of her. How sad for us to know in hindsight what lay ahead for her. I honestly don't think it done her any favours keep singing those songs from 'Back to Black' for so long reminding herself of that dickhead. We will never see anyone like Amy again RIP
I think every music lover out there wishes we could have wrapped her up and taken her off the tragic path she was on. She was a phenom. Heart, soul, and chops. Charlie Parker said, "If you haven't lived it, it won't come out of your horn." Amy shared more than music with us, she shared a life. RIP,
In this performance we can really see the incredible voice she had.. IT was a such a gift .. she made it sound so effortsly,.. WOw she blows me away... I didnt realize that was her real background or passion.. Jazz. I had heard elements of jazz of some her later music.. Like Billy Holiday, who i think is the greatest Jazz singer of all time.. well i believe that amy is very much like Billy not just in the tone and delivery of her song but also that they were both tortured souls.. i love you Amy
@MermaidPrincess9 BILLIE Holiday is very good, but not the greatest jazz singer of all time. maybe blues, NOT JAZZ. Actually not even blues, Bessie Smith is the greatest blues singer, and Billie Holiday is good but overrated. Amy has influences of Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan in her intonation, phrasing and improv NOT BILLIE. I do not get why everyone is comparing her to Billie because it does not make sense. Just because they sing with emotions, does not mean they are similar.
@ralphbernabe first of all. Billy Holiday was classified as a Jazz Singer... Because Jazz singers the whole thing they were either supposed to sound like a trumpet./ or compliment a trumpet../ I read something about that. Thats why Billy sang with ( louis armstrong) / But she is classified as a Jazz singer/ Bessie Smith was her inspiration in bec, a singer. What i said was that Amy and Billie were Tortured souls. I am blues singer and Ive been comp to Bessie and Janis joplin. my idols.
@ralphbernabe Yes Sarah Vaughan is heard in Amy's phrasing and response to chord changes etc. Vaughn was an unbelievably gifted musician and song interpreter. Sometimes, especially in her last years, the timbre of Amy's voice resembled Billie holiday. (intermittent rasp etc.) I am 62 Y/O and an avid jazz lover. AW 's talents were deep and rare and influenced by decades of song interpretation. Amy was the only "contemporary" artist who caught my ear and stopped me dead. I miss her deeply.......
Love for Amy!!!

Jools Holland knows what talent is. I wished others had also realized this years ago and respected her.
