2 or 3 days to hatch, depending on the heat of the water. You need the right equitment to have sucessful fry. I failed many times. If your eggs don't hatch by 5 days they prolly have fungus growing on them. (which prolly means their dead). Try buying anti fungus from petco or something. And I'd say HAVE A HEATER and have a airstone....but place the airstone away from the bouble nest so it doesn't disrupt the eggs.

how long did it take ur male to blow that nest? B/c my male's blowing bubbles but they keep popping tho. do u have any tips on clues why they are popping?

how big of a tank do i need for the betta to mait in? is a one gallon tank good it has an air pump a small filter a riser tube and thats about it?

@Penguingodzilla i don't get the whitish/yellowish fish? you mean the female fish. btw, the male do not swallows the eggs, he take the eggs to the bubblenest that he has built

@Penguingodzilla theyre probably both bettas;the female didnt die, it was '"paralyzed";the big one was putting the eggs into theyre bubble nest.

He will always attack her, that's part of the ritual for spawning, he will also tear and completely damage her fins. unfortunately there's not much to do to avoid this situation.

Males don't always attack the females, but if she refuses his advances, he will chase her. It doesn't always happen, but it's a possibility. Betta's are very hard to breed, i've heard people tell me that you practically have to light candles lol

As for your problem: maybe it's just the pair, try using another female and see if he changes his mind.

i just got 2 betta and the female has a white spot on her stomach does that mean she has eggs(she swims away from the male and is at the bottom of tht tanl usually)

i use a plastic pop bottle with both ends cut off, that way, when you come to release her, it doesn't disturb the nest as you simply lift it out of the tank. good luck.

how do you know when the white female is ready to spawn??? cuz since the white ones wont show white strips...

she will look plump before feeding and should show the ovipositor (a white spot) under her belly, that is a good indication she has eggs, whether she spawns really is up to the fish.

Is the male caring for the eggs? They sometimes don't build nests. If not, remove the bettas, and make sure the airstone is very gentle. Airstone, connected to the airpump.
