  • Albert Collins was so underrated it's almost unbelievable. The album that has this song (Ice Pickin') is one of the greatest blues records out there. I love watching him, telecaster slung over one shoulder, plugged straight into a cranked Fender Twin Reverb.

  • Hey Brunois',

This is a MUSIC video - keep your rants confined to your blog or write the New York Times.

  • bless Japan and all the blues lovers there too..!

  • Gotta love the rhythm mullet.

  • Drummers groovin whole bands on fire

  • One of my main Blues influences due to my dad playing his music and me finally seeing him at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Albert King played on the same day too and I bumped into Gerry Mulligan in an elevator.

  • 5 girls like to talk so much... :)

  • Man if this stuff dont make you want to get up on the dance floor then I dont know what?

  • he can make that telecaster scream and cry

  • FUKIN FREEZZZZIN BABY

  • Awesome the way he fills that groove!

  • I get the feeling the Japanese are blessed because of the prejudice in the USA?

  • I was priviliged to meet Albert a couple of times. Lovely man and my all time guitar hero. I never understood why people cried when Freddie Mercury died, but I shed a tear for Albert. Much missed. Albert I love your music

  • Awesome!!!!

  • "Hush"? Don´t worry Albert, when I hear you play I´m about as speechless as one can be.

  • His Telecaster seems to have grown to his body. He hardly seems to touch it when he is playing.

  • In those days they paid extra for enthusiasm from the band .. A support thing...

Albert was good,, but with people like Gary Moore coming over to visit,, time was catching up fast...

Good as it was, it finally caught up with him ...

  • 0:08 the drummer thinks hes playing acdc

  • @TheThepurplebird 4/4 time?

  • @SmileyGarrish his head banging

  • of course....y u askin´?

  • @karl01233210 I think I was explaining why the drummer 'thinks' he is playing with acdc; nothing but straight time....

  • Look at the band. They are smokin and groviin as well. God bless. AC

  • @cyoteblues They are playing with Albert Collins. No wonder eh? I would be grooving too. He just has 'it' as in a certain taste for accent and subtle nuance that impresses everyone with a musical ear. His Talent is impressive, and it seems to bring out the best in others. And it sure looks like fun to be in his band. Besides Albert strikes me as one to never turn down some smokin.

  • He just ripped that guitar a new asshole.

  • now that's what i'm talkin about!

  • so good

  • What a feeling! Goddamn!

  • onore al maestro della telecaster !!

  • Joder

  • What can I say? WICKED!!!! His band lays out this big fat groove and he just shrieks all over it. God (or the devil) is gonna love having this guy to listen to. RIP.

  • this is the best version of this blues, Albert puts all the felling and his entire soul on it. Bravo Albert ! 10p

  • he was a one-trick-pony, but the trick he did was goddamn brilliant - RIP my man AL!

  • love me some Albert

  • Someone once told me listening to Albert is like having your teeth cleaned and they hit a nerve. The best, my fav. You don't listen to Albert play blues, you FEEL Albert play blues. You feel the blues of a man with a tortured soul, then the next song he'll rip that single rocking note that cuts through you like a knife. Hepcatblues is right, this is the Iceman, The Razorblade, The Master, rippin it at his absolute finest. RIP Iceman

  • @littleshitrat So true! It's so hard to describe what Albert did with the same strings available to all the other guitarists. They are certainly some great ones out there, but Albert really did hit that "nerve"!

  • @freddiemesquit1 Your absolutly right. There were better players out there.

But without question Albert is the most unique, and the most badass player

that ever set foot on a stage. RIP Iceman

  • You can get the audio-mp3 of this track at grabyourmp3 doht cohm.

  • ice pickin was amaaaaaaazing. What a slick ass cd cover design too. Man he was cool as ice....

  • Yet another musical poem. Women, take notes. Note don't say nothing. Ask my last old lady. I spent that note, ain't heard from her since.

  • he is holding the guitar like a woman holds a bag... fuck he is good

  • No one can hold one note and get so much emotion from it as Albert take it away iceman!!

  • The mullet is too much.

  • how about the four deaf people that dislike the most unique blues guitarist of all time

  • @stevefrareyjr

ahahaha you bet it! they haver big fingers so they missed the right button!

  • Love that mullet in the band! I aint drunk, I'm just thinkin...

  • If this don't light your fire your wood's wet!!

  • God's gift

  • the best guitar solo ever

  • Comment removed

  • @monslayer.... I agree a big influence he was on Stevie but honestly a bigger influence was Albert King. I am just saying that Collins style is way overlooked by new blues youngbloods.

  • Oh honey hush, you know you talk too much.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

  • There was a time when I thought I really was a metalhead. One day I slowly moved to rock and from there I went on to blues music.

  • @iConquerYou SAME FUCKIN BOAT!

  • This dude is has one of the most dynamic blues playing. He really knows how to climax his solos. I really feel he is an underrated bluesman. He had a style that no one else had. Yea people know who Albert Collins is but if you notice there are a lot of guitar players out there and not many try picking up on his style... Its seems to me that so many are trying to sound like SRV. Dont get me wrong LOVE Stevie but Alberts style shouldnt be overlooked.

  • @FrankieOwls LOL everyone trying to sound like Stevie, well Stevie was trying to sound like Albert. Albert was one of Stevie's greatest infuences.

  • @monslayer your right about albert but it was albert king not albert collins.

  • keep on living babe!!!!!!

this kind of groove is from outer space !!!

    somewhere really cool

  • Que grande eras Alberto pero que grande....

  • This is classic A.C. - thanks for posting; so inspirational, what player; I miss him !

  • MY FAVORITE ALBERT COLLINS SONG

  • that's all about how to playng one fucking rocking note . great stuf

  • awesomeness

  • fucking great

  • Great video. Thanks for posting it. I've been wanting to see how he played some of his stuff for a while.

  • a very good blues guitarist but hey i still like lonasome dave ............

  • Just been listening to Curley Bridges' version when AC popped up. Fantastic!!

  • The chill cuts to the bone when the Iceman plays his axe! Saw AC, numerous times, met him twice, he was sweeping the bus when I asked him to sign my Tele...a nice guy, and sadly missed...

  • He's a very cool dude-I worked at a music store so got comped passes n AC wanted us to take pix n vids, but, dude at The Chance (in NY) said we couldn't :( I did get pix backstage n on his tourbus with he n The Icebreakers-also got (will NOT b heard by anyone other than me) a bootleg tape-my pocketbook had a secret compartment for high quality pnut mic n regular size HQ tape ;) The 80s rocked !!

  • Wow. I never stop being fascinated by Albert Collins!!

  • one of the great telecaster players but roy buchanan was in the same class

  • Know i'll take a bunch of crap for saying this, but Collins and Buchanan were not in the same class. The similarity ends with them both playing a telecaster. Collins plays the blues with feeling, real feeling. Buchanan, on the other hand, while a great player was much more style than feeling. Feeling, not style, is what does it for me.

  • @rioblanco That's right. +1

  • master of the telecaster

  • QUE SENTIMIENTO

  • Killer! AC was Da MAN!!!

  • King of the Capoed Telecasters

  • king of the Telecaster!!! unmatched!

  • Albert Collins has absolutely no match!

  • I love the way he adjusts the various guitar and bass drum mics. .. class !

  • BIG JOE TURNER was not a blues man!

He was more like an original R&ROLLER!

He did HONEY HUSH in the 50s.

Similar in Name only, totally different!

Black Women in the South would visit through the Neighborhood "GOSSIPING!

They would reply to Comments from each other with, (HONEY HUSH)..

That may not be the name of Joe Turner's Song

Just an exclamation in the Song!

  • He gets a lot of mileage out of one note. And his index finger.

  • oh yeah , keep living baby,,,,,where have all the blues men gone long time passing .........

  • Hell YES! I love how he just can hold one to ONE NOTE and work the hell out of it.

    One of a kind.

  • True dat!

  • One of the Greatest of all Time. R.I.P.

  • Funny thing is, if anybody emulated Albert's style, they'd just get lynched by his fans. one of a kind.

  • he reminds me of hendrix , cause listening to him i have a feeling his guitar could talk

  • amazing guitar player with amazing feeling for the music

  • Oh honey, hush :)

  • Collins was a gun!

It's great how important the Telecaster was to him, and he to the Telecaster.

One of the greats of the electric blues.

  • This guy is fucking awesome, just discovered him!

  • This is real talent!!!!!Amazing

  • There was no better entertainment than Albert Collins in my book!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've never heard a Tele sound as fierce as when he plays it!

  • he really makes that telecaster talk and cry!

  • Yeah, he's cookin' up some southern blues for those Asians after time 1:33. They can smell the cornbread...

  • It's the bass that drives Honey Hush.

  • Truth.

  • Just fantastic. And he gets that biting tone finger picking....amazing.

  • Albert is the man! This is groovy as hell!

  • Me and my band opened for Albert at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz twice. What a great man he was, he was given me tips and sayin how much he enjoyed our music. Get this; At the time I was in between Blues projects and it was the Thrusters physco Surf Band opening for him, can you imagine man?!?!

Of course I pulled a few blues tunes out to mix with the Surf, but a Surf Band opening for Albert.. We were good though..

What a tremendous man he was, nicest guy ever.. S- Loco

  • great blues

  • he looks like devin white!

  • magic tone of htis guitar

  • Alert!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the name of the rythm guitarist?

  • Billy Ray Cyrus?

  • Don't know who it is but Cyrus is left handed...and as mullets go, his was better looking.

  • Whatever...Cyrus can't hold a candle to Pete...just my opinion...and, evidently, the Iceman's...

  • I saw Albert C,BB King, Albert and Freddy King,Bobby Blue B,James Brown, at Eastwood Country club SA, TX in the late 50's,,saw SRV at Antone's Austin along with WC Clark who I know,,in mid 1980's,I learned to play blues from 45 rpm's from these great blues players..

  • Man, your a goddamn luck wagon!

  • I had a chance to see Albert King five times before he passed in clubs around Austin. This man *is* one bad motherfucker! There is a story that goes when Jimi Hendrix was with Little Richard, Richard took Hendrix to see Albert King perform at some little juke joint in the fifth ward of Houston.

  • This is Albert Collins fool!

  • No kidding. I saw him 5 time. I'm pretty sure I was there to see Albert Collins. Use some critical thinking skills and you'd see that I only made the hendrix comment to say that little richard took hendrix to see collins to teach hendrix a lesson.

  • Crazy fool! you said Albert King! Thats why I said it was Albert Collins! But if in fact you have seen 'the iceman' 5 times then hats off...

  • dude, you said albert king first

  • whoa

  • Albert is one hardworkin' geetar player, that's for sure! Just love to see him at it! Good tune!

  • Yeah! Badass!

  • this video reminds me of my videos!!1

i just got out of the shower and im still naked xD 05

  • this is f-ing awesome...hohey hush...a nice and polite way to say shut the fuck up.

  • dude the iceman is one badass man.

  • @liberal185 Badass for sure. God I love Albert. Love his the expression on his face, it''s like a mix of feeling the music and having a stroke.

And what that poor guitar every do to him, he just attacks it.

    RIP Iceman.

  • @liberal185 I agree. But the mullet on the drummer..............

  • Un genio!!!

Qualcuno sa come accordava la chitarra?

  • usa l'accordatura standard, con un capotasto mobile

  • ho letto in un suo CD " ICE PICKING " del 1978 della Alligator Records che accordava in RE minore.

  • Johnny B.Gayden, perfect with Albert. I saw these guys up close for two shows. Definitely one of the greatest of all times....

  • I can relate Albert... Love that FUNKY BLUES, MAN!!! I cant stop tapping my feet.

  • sick mullet lol

  • BadBadBadBadBadBadBadBadBadBadBad too the bone!!!!!!

  • ESTE TIPO DE MUSICOS,SOLO NACEN UNO DE 10.000,Y AL IGUAL QUE LA ESPIGA DEL TRIGO,CUANTO MAS GRANDE,MAS SE DOBLAN AL PISO...(humildad)ALBERT COLLINS,GRACIAS POR TANTOS BUENOS LICKS!!!!LARGA VIDA AL BLUES!DIOS BENDIGA TU ALMA ..==CLAUDIO SEVERO==

  • espectacula albert Collins

  • stupendo!!!!

  • i want the whole concert......damn it!!!

  • no way, collins and the drummer has the same hairstyle

  • i can see you! you fool no one! pathetic!!!!

  • From the very minute he sprang from his momma's loins, he was destined to lay down some blues.

He oozed blues from every pore.

Thank you Master of the Telecaster!

  • Get you amp right man.lol

    Collins is the shit though

  • One of the best showmen ever, without question! Tone for days....Rock on hepcat!

  • Thank you hepcatblues

  • We miss you Albert :(

  • my telecaster doesn't talk and cry like that! Albert collins always the best!

  • I know, I got to figure that out myself. The little feedback makes it sound dirty ass hell!!

  • this is one awesome guitar player

    its sounds so GREAT

    awesome video!!!

  • Hit them right on their heads,Albert!

    What a funky powerful bluesman.

    Outrageous!

Listen to his guitar, one and only.

    What a sound!

Come back Albert : we want you!

  • Man when he hit his lead at 1:35 I got up and started dancin' around the room. By 2:20 I had my guitar cranked and was jammin with Albert and the band unitl the end and was drippin as much sweat as he was. Well, almost. What a perfomance. If this don't make you feel great then your almost dead. Thanks for sharing all the videos Hcatblues, they made my night- more than once.

  • my head was gonna explode from all the excitement. this is damn good stuff! why couldn't nowadays club music be jammin' like this???

  • Gone too soon!!!

  • ya had to see this guy in a nightclub it was incredible,no matter how many people out front

the intensity was always 110percent,and the sound was graet

  • This guy is a powerhouse!!!!!!Why listen to the white blues player when you can learn from the real deal?Up with black blues players!!!What an absolute artistic approach!!!Thanks for uploading this

  • too bad it's a jazz festival, and it's jazz...

    blues ma'ass

  • what difference does it make what color he is? this guy is phenomenal... he could be a river donkey for all i care... talent doesn't have a skin color.

  • As far as I can see, colour makes a world of a difference, just in case you have ears to listen. If you want to identify yourself with beautiful young white pinky players,go ahead!Thats what music bussiness is about in this days..A reflection:when a white musician try to play the blues, rock and roll is the result

  • oh yeah! that's the way you do it!

  • this is what i call groove! No clapton,SRV,robben ford can polish his shoes. He's a true original. You can't copy him. Thanks albert, keep on livin'!

  • SRV can't polish his shoes? Damn, that's harsh. SRV and Collins would have both told you that the other was the best alive. They had extreme mutual respect... so why don't you?

  • You're right.I got carried away by enthusiasm and said the wrong things.Sorry.

Collins is such an original that few can stand up to his level.

SRV is,for me, set the basic standards every guitarist must know.

a master rock-blues artist, really out of sight!Just need to hear that incredible version of "walking a tightrope" to know he's really powerful.

    Thanks.

  • we're lucky to have had two greats like those two guys, ya know. there are tons of people that have no idea who Albert Collins is... but at least we are familiar with the genius of Collins and SRV. I only wish they could have lived longer to add to their legacy.

  • we're lucky to have heard them.Right.

What we can do is to bring forward their message in our own way. That's all.

By the way,if you haven't yet,go and listen to "I'm a lonely man" and "Your funeral and my trial" by Sonny Boy Williamson.

I have no more words to describe my admiration, love and utmost respect for such a genius of the blues like SBW!

  • Politically correct blues players is what most white audiences need.Politically correct means being white, young and photogenic (wasp, the rest of the world doesn´t matter)a good player with a simple, commercial and easy to assimilate message.Btw, music is not a mere "hobby" for me.I study Musicology in Germany.I wish you a lot of enjoyment with your musical "hobbies"

  • lol. "musicology". what a joke. SRV was neither photogenic or commercial. he was raw and full of soul. you have no idea what "white audiences need". you sound ignorant when you use stereotypes like that. you must go to a terrible school if they teach you that SRV is a prefabricated idol. what do Germans know about the blues, anyway?

  • Man you are stupid..

Mark Nomad is one of my favourites.. He is white oops means he is fake problably.. Anyway I have no need to talk with deluded maniacs music is what it is enjoy it or stfu.

  • I thought idiots like you went out with hitler

  • Don´t be afraid,Lamiamano say what you think.Demolish some miths from time to time is so healthy..A.Collins (among many others black players)has been a fine example of how the blues must be played.SRVaughan was a prefabricated idol for the average white audiences.

  • lol. prefabricated idol? you clearly know nothing about music. black musicians will even tell you that SRV is a god. you should find a new hobby.

  • whats he got there, 2 twin reverbs ?

  • Let"s have a PARTY!!!!!!!!

  • thee iceman!! and so much fun!! put's a smile on the blues; wish you were here, bro.'....

  • That's pure soul right there. Albert played the blues, but he played em with such joy.

  • Holy Jesus, the king is in the house!
