I am so Glad they restored and kept Laffey, She is the last of the Sumner's and deserves to be a museum not a reef, or scrapped. I have not seen her since 1982 But Want to see her again soon. She left an impression in my heart, and my mind. to the point I had to have a 4 foot model of her and so scratch built one to remember her.
It's about time!!!! My Dad served onboard the Laffey's sister ship, the U.S.S. O'Brien (DD-725) durring the last years of Vietnam and I have been wanting to take him to see her for the last few years.
