  • This is possibly the best video I have seen on this subject in a long time. I plan on using these steps to improve my drawings, little by little until I reach my goal of becoming a good artist/painter. While it may only be a hobby of mine, I take it seriously and really appreciate how detailed all your videos, while keeping the overall theory behind it relatively simple. Your laid back attitude and overall manner of presentation and speech makes a viewer want to keep listening and try it for

  • @AuraTheChibiArtist themselves. (I hate that youtube comments have a character limit. Restricts me from saying what I want in one huge chunk.) Might I ask how you started off with drawing and where it has gotten you? Considering your other videos, I'm guessing 3d modelling, but that's just my intuition speaking. I hope to see a lot more of you in the future, because I can't get enough of how you demonstrate and explain things. Congrats, you have a new subscriber.

  • this was really useful. thanks

  • I had to laugch after reading nom nom xD

  • wow finally T_T i know how to start a drawing, cause when i start drawing i just doodle until i get what i want, but now my ways of starting a drawing changed thanks dude!

  • YOURE SICK MAN SUBSCRIBE PWAHAHAHAHA

  • Damn i enjoyed watching that! thank you for brightening up my otherwise bleak and crappy day. You got yourself a new subscriber!

  • I'VE DRAWN MILLIONS OF GUYS SHOOTING GUNS!!! lol

  • What if the character's just doing a nice and aesthetic pose?

What kind of intent do I assign to that?

  • You could have a number of intents, from trying attract attention. Trying to relax. etc. If someone is alive, they are doing something, even if they are not aware of what they are doing. Even characters in aesthetic pose do something if they are alive, no matter how mundane. As you think deeper , you consider why they want to do this or that, and how that motivates their intent. Whenever you draw a character, you are telling a story, even if you were not planning on doing it.

  • yes, but watch the ones of bobby chiu, hes great, too and he talks more about drawing-philosophy

  • hey dse any1 no of any websites were i can drawing to draw like with measurments

  • I learned so much from this one! Specially the way you first position the hands, feet or head ^_^ I never considered doing it that way

  • I never thought of different stages in drawing... Thank you so much for the useful info! It makes drawing so much less intimidating. I always have an idea in my mind, but it never comes out right. Maybe this will help?

  • lol at NOM NOM NOM

great job I should really learn how to use this techniques property. Maybe i can become better.

  • Starting with "Intent" will help you come up with better ideas for things to draw.

Having a step-by-step process can help you focus all your effort on individual stages, such that each stage is done well. Adjust the process to suit your needs.

It beats trying to do everything at once and experiencing epic phail. :D

  • First, and thanks for the useful info. I'm sure lots of people fall into silly ruts and bad drawing habits.

  • It's those first three things that are often overlooked... Intent, Action, Flow. When you have a good drawing process, each step makes it easy to do the next step - the work seems to finish itself off.

  • so easy a caveman can do it :D

  • Yup, just 6 steps, and you really only have to remember the first three - Intent, Action, Form Flow. The other three, Form Placement, Line Placement and Line Quality come naturally.
