I think he's adorable. =D He read minds, correct? Chances are, he grew up with everyone lying to him, and so then he gained the ability to know if it was the truth or a lie. But from that, he suffered even more. I kinda feel sorry for him. From what I see, he's kinda like a child a lot of the time. Aside from that whole... chainsaw... thing..

@kittenless If I understand correctly, based on my reading light novels and what-have-you, Mao's mind-reading is an extension of the fact that he had always been very perceptive of people. And yeah, he is like a child most of the time; it's a hallmark of his personality. It's all a shame because he probably doesn't even realize he's doing anything wrong.

He IS one of the greatest characters in Code Geass. He's got a lot of complexity to him, and he's essential to the show's plot.

It's true; it isn't his fault he's insane. That's why I can't dislike him (nasty though he is). Of course, if it weren't for all that business with him and CC, he'd probably be the sort of character people hate to even think about... but that's what makes him special.

@DarkWitchArizona Actually... I'm not sure if I'd call his intentions good per se, but I think that yeah from his perspective he actually thought he was the good guy. He probably thought C.C. needed him to protect her from all the bad people with dirty thoughts, and he made life so miserable for Shirley and Lelouch and Suzaku because he thought they were bad people for making their mistakes. This is all made explicit in the light novels but it's only hinted at in the anime.
