When i try to format my PS3, there is no option called 'Allot 10GB to other OS' . It goes from Format Utility>Format Hard Disk> Quick Format or Full Format. Please please PLEASE help! Can't find a solution anywhere!

In my ps3 there is no custom, no Allot 10GB to other OS, or install other OS. I think that it is because of the update for latest firmware(is it?). If it is, how do I downgrade it? Or if there is any ther way, please help.

no linux is disabled on the ps3 slim, but if you search around, i've heard about an exploit that worked on the slim (but it was supposedly patched already). but just to let you know, this video tutorial will not work for the ps3 slim.

ya, that version doesnt work, i downloaded it from a different source and it worked really well

On PC's you got also a full format and a quick format option. What I know is that a full format overwrites and codes all the data on the hdd. When you do a quick format it just codes it as overwrite-able, but you can still get the date back if it's a quick format. That's what I know about the options on a PC.

I did a full format (which lasted 2 h 1/2) it erased everything, except:

- buddys

- ps3 accounts

What about you? I'm not sure if you ever did a full format, it's not worth it.

try using dvd decrypter, and burn the iso with that,and burn it at the slowest speed so it wont miss any data

I recommend setting it up at his place in case of conflicts with the internet but im sure you can be done installing in about 20 minutes

when im download YDL from the site you linked above, it stops randomly partially through the download as if it is complete. once at 1.3 gigs, once at 600K megs. any idea why this might be? i use firefox and i receive no error messages.

have you tried a different browser? try IE see if anything changes.. even though im a firefox user. i hade no problem redownloading it

ok I kind of installed it but when setting it up I didn't get to type all my choices and setup with the screens that came up on your screen, the screens that came up for me where a blue screen in the background and whit text and black text, and thats where I setup. But the problem is that later it wouldn't let me log in plus what is my username i never made one i just made a password earlier in the process please help thanks.

when u install the yellowdog, It says set up internet, By default its set to something like

eter0 or something like that, which means it connects to the internet by ethernet cable, if you choose the other option it will try to connect via wireless since i use ethernet thats y i choose default

hows it going, well ill answer ur question free of charge no need to sub if u dont want to :), anyways that being said, you need to have another partition since when u load up the ps3 it dont have a partition in it by default thats y u have to format so it will act as if it always hade 2 partitions, you are required to have another partition because if you try to install (which will fail btw) it will always load up to Linux and will never let u play Blu-rays or ps3 games so you would have 2 =]
