It's not the poem that I like but the meaning it holds I'm not a soldier yet but I know they are alone and deserve respect no matter were as long as they fight for freedom I think that that soldier is alright. all soldiers deserve a welcome home.
on some videos i've seen, about the military videos, there is always people arguing about british vs american troops, im from the UK and this nearly bring me to tears each time, does it really matter if you're American or British, we all fight for one thing, freedom, and many people need to learn to respect this. respect to all those who died defending those that they love!

I've worn the uniform. I was a CO, sent to the battlefield unarmed so I could save lives rather than take them. I came home to a country ripped to shreads from a war nobody wanted. I was called a Babykiller. I was 21, going on 60.
These days, when I see someone in uniform, I always tell them thankyou. I also salute the flag at any event where the national anthem is played. Not technically correct I suppose, and those around me wonder what I'm doing, but I don't care.

Don't get mad about what others say or believe. Perhaps i don't agree with you but this is what we fight for. The right to say ad believe what we think is most fit. Drive on whoever reads this and even if you despise me to my core, its your right to, whatever you do just stand by what you believe and ill stand by what i do too. This helps us look up to those brave men and women who fight for what's right regardless of the consequences, most of whom unrecognized. We don't truly know the price of their choice, yet they continue to fight. So, give them a prayer of thanks, for they selflessly give their lives for us.
This made me want to watch the Walmart commercial of the mom returning from Iraq or Afghanistan. I cried my eyes out during it, almost as much as I did for this.

A few years ago when our brothers and sisters were fighting for all of us 97.9 would pay the Ozzy song Mamma I' am coming home a few times a day, then some asshole threw a fit and called the station to complain. To which they said apparently you don't have family over there and have no idea what it means to a mother that her child is coming home.

And every Christmas this song brings me almost to tears hearing it because it not only brings up the soldiers of the present day, but all those before them who went out and protected our nation. im actually quite curious about the eight who decided to dislike this video. i dont think they realize that their action of pushing that button was allowed by soldiers and their sacrifices. it may seem silly to you eight but the choices you make daily are only permitted because others chose to serve and protect our freedoms under the constitution. i certainly wouldnt want to live in a place like china where the web is controlled and you eight would be shot for dissension :)

this poem was written way back in 1986, and then published sometime in the early 90's....it was not written by lovely in okinawa in 93....he took credit for it, but was finally discredited.

I might be a 20 y/o guy who is rough and tough but this poem brings me to tears all the time. My cousin was a USMC Capt and a NY state trooper. He gave his life in 2006, in Fallujah. I am greatfull for everything he and the rest of our men have done. RIP Johny, you will never be forgotten. Merry Christmas to all and I wish everyone a safe 2011

Just the knowledge to know that were at a warm home, sipping our hot cocoa or being with family makes you feel warm at heart, but to hear of poems that express those times of soldiers who don't get a Christmas, makes me humble. God bless America, and God bless our military of armed forces. This poem makes me weep sympathy for them.

Oooo a single 6 month deployment to Helmand... So who is the bigger girl? The Brit who did a single tour that only equals to half a US soldiers' tour and then washed out, or the American soldier who spent a year over there and then immediately wanted to jump back into the fight. This helps us look up to those brave men and women who fight for what's right regardless of the consequences, most of whom unrecognized. We don't truly know the price of their choice, yet they continue to fight. So, give them a prayer of thanks, for they selflessly give their lives for us.

A few years ago when our brothers and sisters were fighting for all of us 97.9 would pay the Ozzy song Mamma I' am coming home a few times a day, then some asshole threw a fit and called the station to complain. To which they said apparently you don't have family over there and have no idea what it means to a mother that her child is coming home.

im actually quite curious about the eight who decided to dislike this video. i dont think they realize that their action of pushing that button was allowed by soldiers and their sacrifices. it may seem silly to you eight but the choices you make daily are only permitted because others chose to serve and protect our freedoms under the constitution. i certainly wouldnt want to live in a place like china where the web is controlled and you eight would be shot for dissension :)

this poem was written way back in 1986, and then published sometime in the early 90's....it was not written by lovely in okinawa in 93....he took credit for it, but was finally discredited.
it was written by a marine named schmidt.

Thank you 2 ALL of the soldiers. 2 the past, present, and future(2 come) soldiers. All these men and women risk their lives 4 us, 4 this country, and 4 their families and future family members 2 come. I am grateful that i have strong, brave, and proud Americans out there : ) Sophomore yr in the high school trade school I wanted to join for electrical. But well in my jr yr I found out that I have 2 deteriorating discs. Then I knew that would be a problem on my back. I even stopped electrical :(

i am 19 years old and when i was almost ready to graduate high school i tried tos ign up to serve my country but they wouldnt take me cause of an accident i had 6 years ago...have a high respect and am very thankful to all the men and women who serve and who are overseas now! thank you to all miltary persons!!

I might be a 20 y/o guy who is rough and tough but this poem brings me to tears all the time. My cousin was a USMC Capt and a NY state trooper. He gave his life in 2006, in Fallujah. I am greatfull for everything he and the rest of our men have done. RIP Johny, you will never be forgotten. Merry Christmas to all and I wish everyone a safe 2011
