  • i love this poem, i cant help but cry when i listen to it. Its just so beautiful.

  • I love this poem I just change a few word to British Solider to bring it home.

  • Good poem, almost makes me cry.

  • If I ever end up shipping out, this will be one thing that will keep me going...

Thank you Anthonyc77, this means a lot to me and those affected.

  • It's not the poem that I like but the meaning it holds I'm not a soldier yet but I know they are alone and deserve respect no matter were as long as they fight for freedom I think that that soldier is alright. all soldiers deserve a welcome home.

  • on some videos i've seen, about the military videos, there is always people arguing about british vs american troops, im from the UK and this nearly bring me to tears each time, does it really matter if you're American or British, we all fight for one thing, freedom, and many people need to learn to respect this. respect to all those who died defending those that they love!

  • wow that was a great video, and there are many other video tributes to our troops that are great as well. I have a brother who is a SGT. Major in the marines. He has been in for about 19 years. God bless all of our troops and god bless our great country as well!

  • :( god bless him

  • God Bless the troops, and may he rest the souls of those who died for us in Iraq, a war Obama ended so abruptly, that those lives lost were lost for nothing, and now it allows Al Qaeda to terrorise that area and radicals to kill Christians, Jews, and innocents in general. Anyway, Merry Christmas!

  • this is by far the best poem i always wanted to join the army and i will to help this country and i also want to shoot things :D

  • god bless and thank you to all that have served and continue to do so... this poem is amazing, thank you

  • "I've got Christmas secure."

    Heartwarming.

  • @trelewis3 Thank you

  • Just because i don't support the war doesn't mean i don't support those fighting it. To all of those men and women, though i don't know your stories, your faces or even your names, i love you. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or however you treat it. This is for you.

  • Thank u to all who commented respectfully and showed ur support for soldiers.. as a soldier I know being away from home is a killer and it pains me to see our work being taken for granted.. and to all my brothers and sisters still serving away from home. Merry Christmas.. Army strong,Signal proud.

  • I was lucky enough to make it home this Xmas. Korea for a year in 11 days.

  • @11491john ....Thank you for your service. I spent 15 months up on the DMZ at Camp Greaves back in 1993-1995.

  • @thetollerantpickle Watched a documentary about north korea, just wondering, where they stubborn to respond, or was it hard to get a message across?

    Thank you

  • Christmas Day. All secure. :']

  • I'm a deployed airman currently serving a 6 month tour overseas. I'm missing my twin daughters first Christmas. This brought me to tears. Thank you to the person who put the sideshow together. Merry Christmas and God Bless America.

  • tear up every single time. Thankyou to all who serve!

  • ps if the british guy says this song is good i agree i might have gotten it confused but whoever said this song is wrong then ur wrong

  • who ever wrote this song if u have heard of make a wish foundation if i had a desease i would ask to meet u a true here not some famous person to me you are the only famous persn in my eyes

  • listen here you shithead who said this is worthless this is meaning ful if u thimk this is useless ur a sack of shit he risked everything for your sorry ass to breathe so show respect so now i agree with the othr guy scottish coledian i agree with u soo no british dude u fuck off

  • Thank God our troops are leaving Iraq. Bring them all home now so they can spend the holidays with their families!

  • I've worn the uniform. I was a CO, sent to the battlefield unarmed so I could save lives rather than take them. I came home to a country ripped to shreads from a war nobody wanted. I was called a Babykiller. I was 21, going on 60.

These days, when I see someone in uniform, I always tell them thankyou. I also salute the flag at any event where the national anthem is played. Not technically correct I suppose, and those around me wonder what I'm doing, but I don't care.

    I like the poem.

  • @ScottishCaledonian it be completely frozen over, or you must be a fucking Vulcan not to feel any sort of emotion, other than disgust, while listening to this. I don't know about over there in England, but we got soldiers over here that probably don't even have the support that they need once they leave the Middle East. I wonder if you even have a heart, or what gets you emotional. Since this obviously doesn't.

  • @ScottishCaledonian How the hell was I to know that you were a British soldier and toured in Afgan? Huh? I'm not a mind read, and I don't pretend that I do. And don't tell me to fuck off when it appears to be that YOU'RE being the asshole here. Surely being away from your family during this time of year during your tour was tough on you and them. You must have either a heart as small (if not smaller) than the Grinch's,

  • apparantly 9 people aren't thankful for the work that my brothers. sisters. and i do. how much we sacrifice and how much we must throw away for them to even have the luxury of being able to sleep peacefully in there beds and say whatever they want. depressing.

  • I cry every time...

  • i wish we can bring our soldiers home. we dont need more soldiers to die for other countries. plz just bring them home so they can be with their families.

  • Gentlemen we are all warriors? Do we not have enough people fighting over who is right and who is wrong already? Do we really need the my deployment was harder stories? No we don't so please stop this pointless fighting. Thank you.

  • may God bless those who are away from their families this Christmas protecting the very freedom I enjoy every day

  • Thanks for the link!! I couldn't find this anywhere else!!

  • To all those who don't support or soldiers if you don't like it move out they are doing a great job and if they didn't it you would not have the freedom we have I will always support them and god bless them

  • Don't get mad about what others say or believe. Perhaps i don't agree with you but this is what we fight for. The right to say ad believe what we think is most fit. Drive on whoever reads this and even if you despise me to my core, its your right to, whatever you do just stand by what you believe and ill stand by what i do too. Regardless of if i agree i will be up each morning go defend your right to opinion and speech and you'll return the favor by paying taxes, for that i thank you.

  • Stand behind our troops or get shot down standing in front of them.

  • @thankgodforrednecks Best statement for this song. our troops probably feel this way every day.

  • Just the knowledge to know that were at a warm home, sipping our hot cocoa or being with family makes you feel warm at heart, but to hear of poems that express those times of soldiers who don't get a Christmas, makes me humble. God bless America, and God bless our military of armed forces. This poem makes me weep sympathy for them.

  • loved this - have seen some of the soldier's pics before. BUT who is the voice? It's driving me NUTS - it's so familiar!!! Anyone know?

  • I love this so much, almost makes me cry.

  • @ZombieMan192 This Poem makes me sick, It's probably the most pathetic excuse over typical American over sentimentality that I have had the displeasure of burning my ears with. It really does make me fucking cringe and I hope the utter cunt that wrote it develops prostate cancer.

  • @ScottishCaledonian If it's a crime to think about our family and friends that are serving this great country and won't be home with us for Christmas due to assignments or God forbid, making the ultimate sacrifice, then I guess we are guilty. When it comes to our troops there IS NO SUCH THING as over sentimentality. It is truly disturbing you believe this. While I realize you're probably not from the U.S., I will be praying for you none the less.

  • @dugowt1 Please go and have a cry at your local knitting group or better yet, why not go and drink as much bleach as you can. You complete cheeseball.

You're simply looking for an excuse to have be emotional, you're a grief whore. I am pleased that we Brits have a bit of dignity, rather than portraying our soldiers in this grotesue manner, with this completely over the top, over emotional SHITE.

    Please slap yourself

  • @ScottishCaledonian Guess what? Since I'm not a Vulcan, I have emotions. Therefore, I get emotional about my loved ones. I know for a fact that your fellow Brits would disagree with your stance since I know some pretty well. Including one who has a brother in the RAF. You apparently have an odd definition of grotesque (assuming you mean that as grotesue isn't a word). I wouldn't describe these photos that way. Also, complete cheeseball? Really?

  • @dugowt1 American men seemto have lots of emotions, you sound like women on the rag. You make me cringe

  • @ScottishCaledonian

Think what you want of our minds on this matter,

but these are our Brothers, Fathers, Uncles, and Family.

Our men die every day, protecting you from the middle east.

So keep spending your money on your free healthcare without a care in the world

While OUR men are separated from their families by half of a world.

    Even on Christmas...

  • @ChaosAlchemyst

    1. I am a former British soldier andI have done one tour of Helmand Province

    2. We are not British and American civilians from Iraqis and Afghans you moron, we are protecting noone.

    3. Fuck off you cunt

  • @ScottishCaledonian

Oooo a single 6 month deployment to Helmand... So who is the bigger girl? The Brit who did a single tour that only equals to half a US soldiers' tour and then washed out, or the American soldier who spent a year over there and then immediately wanted to jump back into the fight. You were probably some REMF at a main base who went home with war stories that weren't yours

  • @kwoot89 I was discharged by the army due to shrapnel in my knee, and I servedin the Grenadier guards, so your presumptions are completely wrong.

  • @ScottishCaledonian I am a United States Marine. I thank you for what you and your country have done as our allie. I cannot speak on the behalf of the others who have commented on this but realize that you are a warrior just as I am and just as anyother person in the reconized military forces are. So today this isn't about who had it rougher but it's about those who are still their and those who never came home. Please end the fighting.

  • @crazyteddy37 Thank you for your service, I have nothing but the greatest respect for the American armed forces.

My previous comments were solely directed at this fucking awful poem

  • @ScottishCaledonian I fail to see how you can call this a "fucking awful poem". You obvious fail to see what military families, those related to soldiers and friends of soldiers, have to go through and what the soldiers go through themselves. They give up their lives so you can have yours. They protect the freedoms you, we all are, raised knowing we have. Including the freedom of speech. You say that you have the greatest respect for the armed forces. Well, calling this poem, written by a CONT.

  • @HeartFireStorm I am a former British soldier, so I fucking do well know. And do not fucking patronize me about risk of life I have done my tour of Afghan.

And I stand by my comment, this poem is cringe worthy,it is over emotional, hysterically over the top, sentimental shit.

    Now FUCK OFF

  • @ScottishCaledonian people like you are why this world is so fucked up, you can't convince me that you ever severed in any military because anyone who served would have a lot more respect for people than you do and quiet frankly if you didn't like the video you could've just disliked it and left instead of disrespecting it and all of the soldiers who can't be at home on Christmas so please just leave

  • @jnos400 I am disrespecting this awful poem, I am not disrespecting soldiers, have you served you fucking cock ?

  • @ScottishCaledonian you have gone off on multiple soldiers who have commented so yes you are disrespecting soldiers

  • @jnos400 Fuck off you CUNT

  • @ScottishCaledonian CONT marine is, in my eyes, disrespecting the armed forces. So next time you go and post something like what you did about the poem, please remember to think before you post.

  • @ScottishCaledonian wow......one of our troops wrote this u sorry excuse for a human being

  • @jlat420 I know one of your troops wrote it

  • Whoever composed this poem deserves a national honor.

  • This helps us look up to those brave men and women who fight for what's right regardless of the consequences, most of whom unrecognized. We don't truly know the price of their choice, yet they continue to fight. So, give them a prayer of thanks, for they selflessly give their lives for us.

  • This made me want to watch the Walmart commercial of the mom returning from Iraq or Afghanistan. I cried my eyes out during it, almost as much as I did for this.

  • Beautiful

  • Beautiful

  • <Military Brat !! This makes me cry every time i hear it on the radio !! :_-(

  • I fight so that one day my children wont have to, take it as you will but never insult what we live and die for.

  • Amen to that

  • this made me cry. this is so beautiful

  • Thank you for proving to all why we support our troops! To give everyone their right to voice their opinion. But then again....they aren't fighting for you. So f u 2!!!!!!

  • @MsPaki777 Shut up! Don't you dare say that, you don't like Americans, then don't say it! >.<

  • @ Anthonyc77-"No one prays harder for peace than those in the military.", James A Spilmon retired E O D

  • can u buy this on i tunes?????

  • My favorite line:

"Santa, don't cry. This life is my choice."

  • I can't help but cry whenever I hear this. It is one of the best poems I have heard. I come from a military family so this means even more to me.

  • I'm really sad they took this of 93.9 they should keep it to remind us of our brave men who fought their lives to protect us and our country God bless all of you and Merry Christmas

  • @ShadowTheHomicide

I agree with you. It was one reason I listened to that radio station, They do need to bring it back.

A few years ago when our brothers and sisters were fighting for all of us 97.9 would pay the Ozzy song Mamma I' am coming home a few times a day, then some asshole threw a fit and called the station to complain. To which they said apparently you don't have family over there and have no idea what it means to a mother that her child is coming home.

  • @ShadowTheHomicide That is how I was introduced to this song, I heard it playing on the radio and it tore right through me. Every year I always listen intently to see if they will play it again :(

  • @ShadowTheHomicide HV a booring poem

  • With the holidays coming I just want all to remember we still have troops over there

  • to all our heroes out there....thank you and God Bless you! You are my hero my inspiration and be safe, and come home soon!

  • This song always makes me cry every time I hear it! Proud granddaughter, daughter, niece, cousin, sister, and friend of the military! May God Bless all the soldiers past and present in this world!

  • this made me cry, it's so true and so touching!

  • This is pretty awesome, It chokes me up every time I hear it. That being said, I'd like to say that this video is NOT for the jerkoff who simply MUST correct subordinates on buttons, covers, bearing, etc. Let it go, chief, I can do my job without you.

  • 9 ppl are terrorist :/

  • Ty for this. My husband is in afghanistan and he will miss christmas n miss our baby in my belly growing. Keep these soldiers in your prayers. I miss you Dilan. Plz come home soon

  • Every time I hear this song I get a feeling of pride and love for my country and those who are willing to protect her each day and night. And every Christmas this song brings me almost to tears hearing it because it not only brings up the soldiers of the present day, but all those before them who went out and protected our nation. I love the soldiers who protect me and our nation, may God Bless each and every one, and may God Bless The U.S.A forever.

  • I look foward to this every Christmas on the radio!! God Bless you

  • Those that disliked this video just answer me this why??. Would you like it if you was the person being spoken about in this video and everyone else disliked it, I think not. So please show some dignity and respect to those this video is about

  • It's wonderful

  • Genius.

  • this song made me cry

  • The 8 ppl who disliked this vid were crying to much that they missed the like button

  • this is amazing and my heart goes out to all serving for freedom no matter what country they are all brave men may god bless them all

  • May God be with all soldiers who fight for justice and freedom.

  • thank you to all those brave men and women who have served and sacrificed their lives to their country

  • This song/poem makes me fight the tears. How beautiful this is!

Support the troops. We need them, as much as they need us. God bless them all, and all who generously support them.

  • I hope the 8 dislikes are because people weren't impressed by how this video was pieced together, ONLY that.

  • I'm a jerk. i remember when i was 4 or 5 and all i wanted was presents and i was so selfish. i never thought bout those fighting for this country. I'm so sorry i was that way. After watching this i cant help but cry. Thank you troops. Thank you for serving.

  • if i serve my country around christmas time i hope my family and friends think of this for me

  • beautifull!!!!!!!

  • I liked this poem

  • The 8 of you that "dislike" this video ought to be ashamed of yourself! But to those 789 of you that have a soul, I join you as number 790. This is absolutely beautiful and completely awakening. It forces one to realize just how good they have it. . .

  • @butt3rfli2011 well said

  • Love this poem....such true words never were spoken, tears in my eyes everytime i hear it.

  • awww you're gonna make me cry. this beautiful.

  • im actually quite curious about the eight who decided to dislike this video. i dont think they realize that their action of pushing that button was allowed by soldiers and their sacrifices. it may seem silly to you eight but the choices you make daily are only permitted because others chose to serve and protect our freedoms under the constitution. i certainly wouldnt want to live in a place like china where the web is controlled and you eight would be shot for dissension :)

  • i am a marine and this made me cry i think i can speak on behalf all of the military that this is greatly appreciated and are glad that americans really do care about what we do over there thank you and god bless

  • 8 ppl are dumbasses

  • 8 people dislike this vid. WHY???????

  • Thank you to everyone who ever fought for this nation! We all owe you everything!

  • Thanks so much. Words are not enough to express how this makes me feel.

  • My brother died in the service and every time I hear this I think of him this was exactly the way he lived he died at age 19 he was too young but we will always love him rip big bro I love you

  • @madisonmaddie12 Crazy...I'm sorry! Merry Christmas from Montreal!! Thanks to those who serve.

  • God bless our soldiers!

  • This is by far the most sad but true thing in the world. it is unfortunate how taken for granted the soldiers and there families are while serving over seas. God Bless and Merry christmas

  • this poem was written way back in 1986, and then published sometime in the early 90's....it was not written by lovely in okinawa in 93....he took credit for it, but was finally discredited.

it was written by a marine named schmidt.

  • Thank you 2 ALL of the soldiers. 2 the past, present, and future(2 come) soldiers. All these men and women risk their lives 4 us, 4 this country, and 4 their families and future family members 2 come. I am grateful that i have strong, brave, and proud Americans out there : ) Sophomore yr in the high school trade school I wanted to join for electrical. But well in my jr yr I found out that I have 2 deteriorating discs. Then I knew that would be a problem on my back. I even stopped electrical :(

  • Thank you so much for the honor and bravery, fighting for this country for billions of people. I thank you and wish you a merry Christmas! Stay safe and come home soon.

  • i am 19 years old and when i was almost ready to graduate high school i tried tos ign up to serve my country but they wouldnt take me cause of an accident i had 6 years ago...have a high respect and am very thankful to all the men and women who serve and who are overseas now! thank you to all miltary persons!!

  • Waaaa

  • for any soldier reading this comment thank you for everything with out your courage strength and will to carry on only god knows what these lands would be like without you and the work you have done GOD BLESS YOU and Merry christmas to you all

  • I might be a 20 y/o guy who is rough and tough but this poem brings me to tears all the time. My cousin was a USMC Capt and a NY state trooper. He gave his life in 2006, in Fallujah. I am greatfull for everything he and the rest of our men have done. RIP Johny, you will never be forgotten. Merry Christmas to all and I wish everyone a safe 2011

  • @icebrickwall1 I respect that your cousin have served. But do not forget all the soldiers who serve for us. It is not just men who have/are given/giving their lives. Women are also serving for us also. They are giving their lives too.

  • God bless the men and women who protect our country. God bless those who have died for her and those who will continue to protect her. Moreover, God bless our privelege to pledge allegience before the flag of the United States of America. May God be with our armed forces.

  • i dont know wat kind of monster cud dislike this

  • I wish every soldier peace this weekend. They are the reason we can celebrate Christmas here at home in peace...Merry Christmas all of you

  • I Listen to this to remind my self, of how short life can be. To all solder everywhere no matter where you are from or where ye be, know this you are loved, honored and respected.

  • makes me cry everytime :'(

  • Thank God of them thank Go thank God

  • Very powerful tribute to those who defend our country, our morals, and our freedom with their blood and ask for little more than respect. God bless the soldier

  • To our Troop.....THANK YOU, May God watch over our troops who put there life on the line EVERYDAY so that we may wake up in peace. Please be safe wherever you may be. May God bless you and keep you, Amen

  • How can we EVER thank those who offer their very lives to protect our freedom! May God richly bless our soldiers and their families in a special way this Christmas!

  • To all who have served still here and gone. Merry christmas and god bless you and your families at this time of year. To the ones who have fallen away from home rest now we are all safe thanks to you and your brothers who had gone to war for all of us.

  • Santa? Is that you?

  • I heard this on the radio while driving this morning and broke out in tears. Now here I am again with tears....beautiful Silent Night Poem, we LOVE OUR SOLDIERS!!!

  • @adventureswithkevin: you should be thankful for people that put their lives on the line for scum bags like you. Why dont you go to iraq or aghanistan and get shot at and blown up maybe you would be more greatful.

  • My son is a 20 yr. Marine and risks his life for us and his family. Thank you to all who pray for them and support them. Those who don't, let us not waste our energy on them - they are sad creatures. If they don't like it let them live without the freedom our soldiers have given us.

  • Anyone who can watch and listen to this and not be affected has no heart. I'll be sending an extra note to those I know who serve or who have served.

  • This made me cry, Merry Christmas to ALL the Soldiers who are fighting for our country, All my friends over seas and all my family and friends who have already fought the good fight. Merry Christmas to you all...may you have just 1 peaceful night.

  • Whose voice is this?

  • "AdventuresWithKevin?" Who are you to make such a negative comment on what is meant to be something of inspiration in such a complicated and confusing world? Is it your right to make such comments simply because you live in a country, a country that provides you the very freedom to make such comments? A freedom that you enjoy by the very soldiers who provide that freedom for you and ask nothing in return other than our respect? Honor them for that. Don't disdain or hate them for it.

  • @AdventuresWithKevin

why do you have to post such a negative comment? This poem is for soldiers spending chistmas away from home. Let it be just that!

  • @Theroyalbitch126 because the person who wrote this was probably going for the whole " lets make people feel shitty since that's an easy emotion to pull out"

You can enjoy it if you want, i'm just saying what I feel the person went for, and I distain it.

  • @AdventuresWithKevin well people do not feel shitty hearing this poem. people feel touched please some people do not realize that mothers father brother sisters...so on... are not home for the holidays and have not been home in years... people do not realize that these soldiers gave everything up to serve our country. i think it helps people open their eyes. these grateful people these soldiers care about people that they dont even know... not like you from what i read...

  • i cry every time i hear this and i almost never cry

  • when i was 11 my teach+ read this to me i was the only one crying,n then my frineds said imma wright a letter to my brother, then i aked can i wright one to a ranom on wishin him a merry christmas n everythin,im not sure if the soldier did get but i was happy to wast my time to write a letter to a soldier=D

  • This is amazing. My husband is deployed... Thankfully he'll be home for Christmas this year, but our thoughts and prayers are always with the boys fighting the good fight to keep us all safe.

  • Thanks everyone for not making this comment area a place for BS and bickering... As a combat veteran, i remember the many christmas days spent far away from home, I wish santa came to visit me those lonely nights too...

  • I always cry. All you soldiers around the world, no matter what country, god bless you. You fight for what you believe. What brve heros you all are.

    -for dad-

  • god bless

  • 1:00 British Army FTW

  • This video is so touching I actually cried I don't think we should waste more lives in a war that is not their choice,or fault,or anything.

  • @Wintonactor it is their choice, which is something you will never understand. i truely mean not to insult you, but everyone that enlists makes a choice to live the soldier life

  • @evan669 I am not insulted by your comment but instead you have made it a little more clear to me. Thank you
