@N8ORTUBE ...I saw your comment before watching the video and laughed my ass when I saw what you meant, "Watch this, you can throw bricks in the air and hit them like baseballs with this keyboard, you can chop trees down with it..."
OK. My instructions say, "The class compliant drivers built into mac OS X provide support for Axiom so no additional drivers are neeeded or available. Just connect the usb cable, configure recording software and start making music. Nothing happens when I connect the cable. I installed the disc but it just seems to be a bunch of instructions. Did it install software and I'm not finding it? Thanks!
@DMajor239 I understand where you're coming from. If you don't have the money, you don't have the money. But there's always a way to get more money. If you're dedicated then there's not much stopping you from getting what you want. I've lived a pretty shitty life. I was homeless for almost a year, and I struggled so I could afford a laptop to produce on. Once I got a place, I saved money to get a workstation, and then saved more and more over 5 years to get what I have now.
@DMajor239 Neither am I. I worked my ass off for every piece of equipment I own. It's just like anything else, you either spend the money on something nice that lasts, or you buy a piece of crap and have to replace it later. It's worth it to spend more time getting the nicer item. Also, don't assume that someone's rich because they argue against garbage equipment, that's ignorant as fuck.
does anyone know how to make the keys on the MPK Mini to sound with the native instruments B4... i can only make the pads to sound.. but not the keys.. please help..
@kievaughn1 oh haha, i actually don't have this one, just have a keystation61, do you know of any synths like the OP-1 that aren't required to be plugged into a pc?
THANKS YALL FOR YOUR HELP. Im good now, I bought an Akai MPK Mini.. its amazing. Well worth the 100 bucks. Check out my music on soundclick @ young savage entertainment.
I want to know, can a MIDI keyboard such as this one be used just as a portable electric piano, so to speak? im not interested in studio work with one of these, just having a portable piano. thank you.
@whiteboyedmund as long as you plug it in to a synthesiser of some sort, perhaps a laptop with software like fruity loops or cubase. Otherwise, just get a keyboard. MIDI keyboards don't work on their own...
@savageonthebeat you're not gonna get anything worth buying for 50 bucks man. the Akai MPK mini is around $90 and it has 8 drum pads, and 8 assignable knobs . works great with Reason. (dont know about FL )
@savageonthebeat you're not rich but you've got a payware program, I got one program for free called LMMS "short for Linux MultiMedia Studio", its Multi platform and its really good
@360Linky i know, it was just a way to say him that LMMS is also good, I think that "piratery" files is dumb, it shouldn't be called piratery , imagine yourself robbing something from a store, you got it and it costs money to produce a new one, but downloading "piratery" files is just getting a copy from something
@savageonthebeat Ebay or craigslist. Should be able to pick up a halfway decent used keyboard for that kind of money. You're not going to get bells and whistles, so don't expect pads and encoders but for note entry and chord progressions pretty much anything with keys that's velocity sensitive will do the job.
@savageonthebeat ANY keyboard that does midi will work-but do you want ANY keyboard, or the one you want? Really, an old crappy toy-tyupe with midi will get you in the door, but it will be short on features.
@savageonthebeat Well you won't get one under 50 bucks unless you get a very low end model on ebay, craigslist, or otherwise used. The cheapest I'd imagine would be the M-Audio Keystation 49. $99 I believe. We have the Axiom 49 and use it in just about every session either as a control surface or for VST instruments. Hoping to upgrade to the new one once we recover from all the drum mics we bought >_<
@savageonthebeat lol man I feel your pain...I was broke as shit and college and loved making music, unfortunately a lot of my talent went to waste due to lack of nice equipment. Luckily now I graduated and got a pretty solid job and can afford my toys now. I would tell you about something cheap and good if I knew about it man, but unfortunately you fell in love with a pretty expensive industry lol. Good luck bro.
@savageonthebeat Good luck. Look on Craigslist. Musical equipment is expensive because of the time and money spent on research and development, materials, and manufacture. It's not like a QWERTY keyboard where you can just throw shitty components in and be fine. Get used to either using shitty equipment or stealing the nicer stuff.
What software are you using??? o.O Sorry, I got this thing for Christmas and I have no idea how to use it. The instructions don't explain anything. I just want a keyboard that makes sound. xP
The power supply also allow you to use the Axiom as a standalone MIDI master keyboard, so you don't need to plug it into USB.
When you have the Axiom plugged into the USB port, it will also power up happily when your PC is on standby or off and the bus is still powered, so any device that supplies power to USB will also power the Axiom.
The 49 and 61 versions not only have additional faders, but they also have one more zone and group. My Axiom 61 has 4 zones/groups.
@urireofammolina don't do it, the axiom series is cheap and crappy. the knobs click, the pads are crappy. and this 25 doesn't even have sliders (which are crappy as well on the larger axioms). if you want one with pads buy from a real company like Akai. I have a Keystation Pro88, which may have been discontinued, I'm not sure. I realize it's not really what you're looking for but the knobs and sliders are very high end feeling in comparison. I would go Akai for something smaller.
@nakabar Can you help me should I buy a Roland fantom x8 or a midi keyboard to produce trance music on and what are the sounds like when using computer programs?? Please help
@MrRicksym well, i'm not a professional but i can tell you that there are benefits and drawbacks to both. with a midi keyboard, you are generally limited to playing with some form of computer attached, so if you don't have a laptop it's not really plausible for gigging. on the plus side, the capabilities are far more with a midi keyboard. there are many hig quality synths and sampled instruments and a far larger selection than with something like an x8. it's also generally much easier
@MrRicksym to compose and arrange on a computer based DAW with a larger screen and mouse. however, if you aren't moderately computer savvy a built in hardware keyboard like the fanrom may be a better choice and more straightforward to use. with a midi keyboard on a computer, you can certainly achieve high quality sounds and whatever you're looking for, but to legitimately acquire all the virtual instruments can be more costly than buying a hardware instrument.
you know with the assiangable knob controls, does that mean you can set them up in sync with settings via VSTi, and then change the controls on the fly ? and when your playing live ? instead of having to go back and forth between your laptop.
cheers, im new to the midi synth route so all the help i can get will be great
@Ashjaah27 yeah, for example on massive you can assign any modulation to any individual knob, which makes it great for tweaking and performing/recording modulation. i have the bigger version of this keyboard (the 49)...
Plugged it in, loaded engima, set my preset, loaded reason, added it manually using the reasons presets, works perfect. I already own a 49 key oxygen but I picked this up off of a friend just cuz I like the pads and semi weighted keys. :) Lovely little addition to anyones studio.
Oxygen 49 cuz it has 4 octaves, 10 sliders and 8 knobs. I'm just more used to it I guess and it does all I need. I might get something bigger soon though.
HELP ME PLEASE!! I just got UMX250 Behringer, ive plugged it to computer through USB, but when i push they keys on the midi keyboard thers no sound coming out! HOW DO I CONNECT IT CORRECTLY ???? :((((
I think he's talking about how you can move the keys to the side and break the rubber seals for the pressure sensitivity. When you do this it becomes impossible to press the keys down lightly, they stick.
There's only ONE problem with most of the M-Audio Midi Keyboards. They don't have Metal connectors under they keys, instead you usually find that there's a rubber button under the key.
Now, they get worn out or they get moisture in them and they stop working unless you take them apart and clean them out with maybe, cleaner and some swabbies, But Surprisingly it's still very nice. It just might make it in my shopping cart. Next to the Yamaha W-5.
@nick3r All of the models above the 25-key version also have a set of 8 slider controls for yet another set of realtime controllers. I imagine they'd work great as drawbars if you're using it for a B-3 emulation. I have the 49-key version in my home studio for my "keyboard noodling" (I'm a Bassist by trade) and love the build quality, key feel and overall compared to other controllers, but would love to pick up the 25-key version for live gigs and the occasional Synth Bass part.
it comes with ableton live lite 6.....the looks,feel...damm man good stuff....the only problem is i can,t even make it sound with ableton live lite...lol,can anyone help me??/....i'm a noob!!!
Matter of personal opinion. All of them are good for beats, I would buy 61 just because it's so versatile. However, you might need something more portable.
I just got a axiom 61. Works so far but I noticed it you cut the unit off while its plugged into the computer the drivers will crash and you have to reboot the computer. Also if you use an external module you must run the axiom in the computer first and route the midi out to get the midi out on the axiom to output to the hardware module. In my case a Fantom XR. works great so far
I'm about to invest in a midi keyboard..I'm a fan of M-audio hardware, not familiar with their kb's though, can anyone tell me if this is a good one for LIVE performance as well as studio recording?? Thanks..
Thank you for the straight forward review. It's refreshing to hear someone fly through the review without wasting any time repeating themselves or talking so slow you just wanna blow your brains out lol Cheers.
a midi controller is a controller that you plug into either synth or a computer to control the sound that the synth or comp makes. There is no brain inside a midi controller, it is just a controller. A midi keyboard is just a type of midi controller with a piano keyboard on it. A synth is a sound making brain. Normally one will have a piano keyboard on it and will resemble what you see in this video, only they will be much more expensive because you don't need a computer to make the sounds
lol BIG difference. Synthesizer's come with patches built in so that you can play when you pick it up. MIDI keyboards just transmit information to something such as a synthesizer so it can make the sound for it.

Now, they get worn out or they get moisture in them and they stop working unless you take them apart and clean them out with maybe, cleaner and some swabbies, But Surprisingly it's still very nice. It just might make it in my shopping cart. Next to the Yamaha W-5.
lol

besides the pads and less keys what is different than the 88 keys version?
nick3r 1 year ago
@nick3r All of the models above the 25-key version also have a set of 8 slider controls for yet another set of realtime controllers. I imagine they'd work great as drawbars if you're using it for a B-3 emulation. I have the 49-key version in my home studio for my "keyboard noodling" (I'm a Bassist by trade) and love the build quality, key feel and overall compared to other controllers, but would love to pick up the 25-key version for live gigs and the occasional Synth Bass part.
scarred2112 1 year ago
@scarred2112 I actually havent had a need for the sliders since I got it. Its a great controller!

is this one better for beats or is the 49 is better
4TERRYJ 1 year ago
@4TERRYJ
Matter of personal opinion. All of them are good for beats, I would buy 61 just because it's so versatile. However, you might need something more portable.

Can this be played with 'live' like a regular keyboard instrument or is it only for computers? Great video, please reply. :)
SamJams92 1 year ago
can u use this with like fruity loops?
sammyboy980 1 year ago
I just got a axiom 61. Works so far but I noticed it you cut the unit off while its plugged into the computer the drivers will crash and you have to reboot the computer. Also if you use an external module you must run the axiom in the computer first and route the midi out to get the midi out on the axiom to output to the hardware module. In my case a Fantom XR. works great so far

What is the difference between midi keyboard and midi controller and synthesizer???
jazzmatik 1 year ago
midi keyboard looks like a keyboard midi controller can be fades keys or anything else and a synthesizer is.... just google it.
it has nothing in comment with the other 2 things
psychomuzek 1 year ago
a midi controller is a controller that you plug into either synth or a computer to control the sound that the synth or comp makes. There is no brain inside a midi controller, it is just a controller. A midi keyboard is just a type of midi controller with a piano keyboard on it. A synth is a sound making brain. Normally one will have a piano keyboard on it and will resemble what you see in this video, only they will be much more expensive because you don't need a computer to make the sounds
imakery 1 year ago
@jazzmatik a synthesizer has built in sounds or generates sound if you will and uses waveforms.
a midi controller is a work surface that either controls other keyboards or sound generating machines or even computer software.
a midi keyboard is a midi controller but with keys.
typically a midi controller and keyboard do not generate sound unless the manufacturer adds them as a bonus.
kingofkeyboards 1 year ago
lol BIG difference. Synthesizer's come with patches built in so that you can play when you pick it up. MIDI keyboards just transmit information to something such as a synthesizer so it can make the sound for it.
harryfillpot666 1 year ago
im new to this but jus wondering where does the sound come out of? n does the midi keyboard have a headphone port?
