  • the knife wasn't wrong, you just forgot to wet it...

  • The restaurant I go to, the Philadelphia roll has avocado and cream cheese in it.

  • when you cut, start from the back of the blade and but back.

  • I would of never thought to use salmon flavored cream cheese. I always looked at it at the grocery store and thought "Ew. Gross! Who eats this?!", even though I love salmon. Ha ha! But it makes perfect sense to use it on sushi. Thanks for the idea!

  • Yummy

  • You should use half a sheet of nori...

  • Put water on the knife.

  • omg. i just made this... :) thnks ...:)

  • aw i wanted to rate this vid thumbs up. i love it! super non-intimidating sushi <3 must try!

  • you forgot to put water in your knife

  • because i want to try it out this weekend... and cook some for Christmas ...>//< ekkkkk

  • WOW it looks so good. ... can you make chicken or pork kind? because i don't like to eat fish..

  • @meikokiem there are no rules! i think some strips of teriyaki chicken would be DELISH! :D

  • I tried to "like" this, but I couldn't. Oh well, I would have if I could have, but I couldn't so I didn't.

You can use all sorts of stuff in these. I'm a vegetarian and love to make a modified California roll with tofu and avocado and cucumber. Totally refreshing.

And, you cooking diva, are a delight!

  • I'm gonna try this next friday with my boyfriend hahah... hope it comes out just like yours... my kitchen will suffer

  • I love sushi, You've encouraged me to try it, and by the way I love your commentary and litle giggle it's cute and so are you.

  • @yamachicken yes we do!

  • Looks delicious. :)

  • Isn't sushi raw fish?

  • @111076tom There are different types of rolls. Typically, this isn't the average Philly roll. A normal Philly roll, has slightly smoked still mainly raw salmon, and philly cream cheese. Stereotypically, sushi is seen as rolls. But traditional sushi, is a small rectangle of rice, and a strip like piece of raw fish on it.

  • @111076tom it doesn't have to be.

  • thank you for learning this to me :-) love it

  • Tip for cutting the rolls: cut a slice, and wipe your knife with a wet cloth, then cut again :D so that the rice and nori won't stick to it.

  • Toasting the wrap over the stove brings out the flavor alot.

  • great video. Only one thing 6:11 Please please please watch your fingers. Wow that's close and improper. But good job otherwise.

  • I have been wanting to try making sushi forever I even bought the roller , the pickled ginger, and the nori about three months ago LOL you gave me the inspiration to just do it ! I am scared to use raw fish but I will use avocado, cucumber and maybe some sweet potato, and I think some cooked salmon cakes would taste awesome too !

  • YUMMY!!!!!!!!

  • very nice video I'm going to try to make this at home for my gf

  • is it important to always pre rinse the rice because im hearing that it depends on what type of rice you use as to whether or not you are to pre-rinse the rice

  • @1prettysoul LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!....off to download the cookbook then

  • nice video

  • I'm hungry!

  • Sushi is one of my favorite indulgences, I dont have it often, because its expensive here in Chicago. Thank you for an awesome alternative, Monique!! Cant wait to try this recipe!! Thank Youuuuuu(singing:D)

  • I love sushi and you made this look so easy that I will have to try this...to my favorites it goes!

  • before u cut ur sushi...put ur knife each time in water...that way the rice wont stick on the knife and it wont look messed up

  • @Bangerz0604 thank you for that tip!!! Cuz i swear i DESTROY my sushi rolls when i try and cut them LOL

  • You made making this look so easy. I may have to try your recipe.

  • I didn't know you lived in NC. What part do you stay in?

  • OMG! I have to try this!

  • Look very tasty!

  • I remember eating my first sushi. The Asian guy said it was supposed to be popped whole into my mouth. I obeyed. I regretted. Standing there with a rotted fishy tasting, cold icky rice ball with bits of chunky slimy center, wishing time would stop and I could pfthhooo it across the room, I had tears in my eyes as I politely chewed briefly, swallowed, and shuddered. Never again!! And I love seafood ~ but not sushi. I'm sure your recipe is the bomb for those who love it, though! Love your vids!

  • they look so good n so easy to make!

  • neat! I love sushi and the different California-like rolls. I'm not brave enough to try the raw salmon. I'll try this with that flavored cream cheese and add crab meat. I used to eat sushi rolls as a kid in Guam..they were so good..so many variations..in Guam they put SPAM in them. ;-) I think my kids will like this...they even like to eat seaweed wrapper by itself. Have you thought of buying a small rice cooker? It can save you a lot of time!

  • Use imitation crab meat and mayo instead of that cream cheese salmon crap lol... alot better flavor... also use avacado instead of cucumbers... so much better!!!!!!

  • @armywife7806

i was thinking the same thing about avocados instead... what about canned crab???

  • @123sherylin That's how I make my sushi...I used canned crab meat and avocados, I dont use the cucumber but Im sure it would be just as good. I dont use the salmon cream cheese either; but I have made it with homemade tempura shrimp, avocado, cucumber and crab as well and it's DELICIOSO!!!! :-)

  • where is the fish? im guessing you used salmon cream cheese instead of reg. cream cheese and salmon?

  • Could you show how you would fry it? I wanna make a Yum Yum Roll (which is avacado, shrimp, king crab, eel sauce, and spicy mayo) but the Japanese restaurant I go to deep fries it.

  • a tip for cutting sushi- wet the knife with water before every slice. its a lil more time consuming but glides right through the roll

  • Do you like raw fish sushi? If not, you're definitely missing out spicy tuna roll or spicy salmon roll is so bomb! So good! ;)

  • You are from NC, I am too

  • @shannonbel me 3

  • mmmmm i loveeee sushi ^_^

  • what part of nc do you live in? not to be a creep but i have family down there

  • @outhong i have wanted to ask the same thing for years but havent cause I didnt want to seem creepy either.

  • Nice! You just need to wet the knife when you slice the sushi. It helps it cut smoother. :)

  • Now I want some rice.

  • Use a bread knife next time.

  • I am so glad you shared this recipe. I always order this when I eat at the sushi place, now I can just make it at home :)

  • so awesome!

  • Girl you came right on time, my hubbs was just saying he wanted some sushi!!!!! Gotta make it!!!

  • I'm soooo making this....thank you!! You are the best!!!
