  • magique! unique

  • Thank you for posting this.. i think that 200 views are mine :)

  • Magic ...

  • I love when Horowitz plays with a wild instinct.....and here in this piece it's absolutely marvelous !! Thanks for this precious take !

  • Happy Birthday, Vladimir! October 1, 1903!

  • Wow, that was an apocalyptic G minor prelude. Too bad Volodya played it so rarely in public. This one sounds tremendous, despite the poor sound, at least as great as the one officially released from Met 1981. This is probably the most listened Horowitz recording in my humble collection. It makes the numerous other versions sound positively amateurish. Overwhelming interpretation and sound.

    Thanks for posting. Highly appreciated.

  • my pleasure. this set of recordings - the whole pasadena 1982 - show how he filled the space in a hall better than almost anything else out there.

  • @Spiritakis MAY I SAY that APOCALYTIC is perhaps an understatement! ? I was blown away.....positively speechless it has left me.........

  • @cubanbach

    You certainly may. :)

As often as not, any words about Horowitz's artistry are pretty much like undestatements; alltogether pitiful attemtps to describe the indescribable.

  • ;) indeed.....there is no pianist that i know except Glenn Gould that has such a distinct and recognizable touch...that has to be genius coupled with talent.

  • so rhythmic. brilliant

  • his multivalenced use of rhythms is extremely underappreciated. to analyse his work would take many, many years. :)

  • it's amazing how sharp the piano is tuned!! Almost a semi-tone high!.. interesting

  • highly unlikely to be tuned that high - more likely to be errors in encoding. thanks for the tip - i'll check it out. one has to watch pitch of recordings online, and i have slightly wondered about this series.

  • Tout simplement sublime !

  • absolutely amazing i have never heard such a singing left hand melody in the G# minor and the G minor prelude sounds like the piano is exploding!

  • Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank you for sharing your collection!!!!

this is so amazing and so beautiful!

  • Thank you so much for these Wonderful recordings. Horowitz takes me places no one else can. Was this performance in Pasadena CA?

  • yes it was - at the ambassador college auditorium.

  • You should definitely make a web site making all these treasures available.

  • woooow!! the dynamic range is huge on the g min. You can't notice how loud his fortisimos are on official recordings.

Please kasyapa, never stop uploading this documents! haha

  • i am with you - his recordings for the most part do his total art a huge disservice. one reason i am glad he was so well-recorded in his older years in the game of hide-the-recorder. :) people need to understand that he was not playing for the microphone - the sounds you get from the speakers is not horowitz!

  • kasyapa: do you have some more tremendous treasuries which come on youtube? in all the case, thanks a lot for all these that you already posted..

  • i do. not many more, but you have inspired me to get some more up. will have them up in a little while!
