  • I love this album is creepy/depressed/just plain weird. And then there are the singles which are pretty much completely different. Just something I noticed.

  • I decide. I am the decider.

  • Chords?

  • That was freakin' awesome, dude.

  • Speaking as a guy who voted for Bush twice, I will say that I am disappointed with Ed. He needed to do that looking into the sun squint when he said he was the decider. Other than that it was great!!! Actually a little stammering would have helped, but I did like the accent. So we have found out two important 'voice' things recently. First, Ed can sound presidential. Second, Jim can carry his own singing lead vocals. I am really looking forward to the next 20 years, BNL are still the best!

  • @PiquetBT52 Do you realize BNL had an anti-Bush song (Fun and Games) on Barenaked Ladies are men?

  • @ascrodin Yes. From that time period (way way back in '04) I chuckled when Tyler anticipated a rush of Americans to Canada if Kerry lost. Presumably Kerry voters. No big rush, just me!

  • Love the "Decider" and secondly Ed you are an absolutely AMAZING Guitar Player.

  • Hahaha, George Bush reference. "I'm the decider"

  • @MegaAstroFan18 yeah a chimp...bahaHA lmao

  • @starryskysrhere: Well Bush does kinda look like a monkey.

  • @MegaAstroFan18 haha yeah. they have pictures to prove it lmao

  • @MegaAstroFan18 Stop insulting monkeys!

  • @RantingThespian I would make a witty comment, but this is a year old. Just sayin'.

  • i love this song because from the opening line and chord he is totally committed to it. no build up needed..... and a mustache also scares me more!!!

  • OMG i love the part when he say "I decide. I am the decider."....THAT WAS GREAT!!! for the rest of my day thats all im going to think about!!

  • I had to scream out "JESUS!" at 2:09 'cuz no one else was there to do it.

  • @Atma505 Hahaha I'll do it with you!

  • IIIIIIIIIII just fell in love with this song!

  • Does anyone know where I can find guitar tabs or chords for this song online? Or does anyone just know them and can post them on here?

  • What does the phrase "I have a match" mean?

And the part at the end, about his dad having pictures of Jesus, Mary and Charo. Which 2 are holding hands up in heaven, and what does their "son's name is Kevin" but I read somewhere his name is Jack mean?

Great lyrics and commentary in this song, but I just don't understand those parts.

  • I don't know about 'I have a match', but 'they' is the people in heaven, in general... I think. No idea what the Kevin/Jack bit.

  • I always thought he mean't his dad and the other dad are a match and then he just switched it up. Like all those songs that say "She fell and broke her ask me no more questions." You know what I mean?

  • rotflol. "I decide. I am the decider." I loooooooooooove that! rotflol. that was awesome. *breath breath* XD

  • I love the sound quality of these bathroom songs.

  • This song sounds really complete with just the guitar, I like it.

  • Awesome, just awesome

  • Awesome! Thanks a bunch for this, and all the rest of the Bathroom Sessions :D

  • This is just one of the most random Ladies songs and it is best listened to really loud. I love it! Go ED!

  • Ed's the decider!

  • one of my favorites! Can't wait til the show tomorrow night!

  • nice job ^_^

  • Love the crack on Bush. I still love the original crack at Robert Tilton though. I think this is one of the best songs they've recorded. Was really cool to hear it acusticly.

  • "you have faith, you just need to use it sayeth the lord."

  • Lmao, loved that crack

  • One of my all-time fave songs.

  • Ed, I want to see the rest of the bathroom!

You signed my ukulele on Ships & Dip III!

  • My favorite BNL song.

  • I'm the decider!!!

  • Call Me Calmly!

  • Great song!

  • I didn't realize that "I'm the decider" was a reference to Bush. Touché.

  • This song is so great, but so ridiculous...

  • bathroom sessions into it's own album hell i'd buy 7 now

  • I always loved the very last lines he says. "And they say that their son's name is Kevin..." Heh. And the George Bush thing was awesome, rock on, Eddie!

  • im the decider

  • I'd never heard this song, but instantly love it!! Just discovered the Bathroom Sessions and have wasted an entire afternoon listening to them all!! They're amazing!!!

Thank you for sharing this wonderfulness!!!

ps. note to self, must use the phrase 'Asshat' more often in life

  • wat do you mean you wasted an entire afternoon?

  • lol, i only meant through procrastination! i should really have been doing something far more productive, like my work which is due in tomorrow! lo and behold, i'm procrastinating once again!!

however, this has to be one of the best ways to procrastinate!

  • Time enjoyed wasting is not time wasted.

And I can't see how you could possibly not enjoy listening to the Barenaked Ladies constantly... that's heinous.

  • LOL- That monkey's "quote" was hilarious!! A renewed respect for this tune.

  • "I decide, I am the decider."

    lol

As opposed to "And you have faith, you just need to use it, sayeth the lord."

  • kudos!

  • Please do a bathroom rendition of "Just a Toy!" It's one of my favorite songs and it's never played!

  • Awesome, just awesome

  • BNL are on the greatest

  • I think thats funny.lol It just goes to show what we look like to the world.

  • Haha. I love the little jab at Dubya.

  • If you can't laugh at yourself...

  • you do? WHY?

  • One of the best Bathrrom Sessions so far, me thinks!

  • What I don't get is how he can remember the lyrics and how to play it so damn well after so many years and so many songs. This performance completely perfect and doesn't miss a beat. To my ears, anyway. It's definitely cool to hear it without any harmonies, percussion, etc. And also neat to hear Ed sing Steve's part in the middle.

  • Probably are now on the terrorist watch list.

  • Have you heard 'Fun and Games'? They must be.

  • And my decade-long crush on Ed intensifies.

  • Aww Ed your voice sounds a little strained on the chimp bit. You're working too hard. You guys do soooo much for us fans. I can't think of any other band who would set themselves up to play their songs in their bathroom!

Love Lia (one of the nuns from London and Birmingham

  • I have always thought this song is about how we haven't really progressed that much and that sometimes humans can act in quite erm... primordial ways. Dunno though, Ed might disagree!

  • Awesome version of this song. Love the W quote!

  • i agree with bnlman... tell us what this song means...

  • Ed, if you do read these, any chance you could write a little something as to how you guys wrote this song. I mean the subject matter seems to change so quickly and it's so random. I would love to know the story behind it.

  • Awesome Ed!!!!!!! One of my favorite songs!

  • This song has always struck me as mad libs set to music. I love mad libs... :)

  • OH MY GOD! THIS IS MY FAVORITE BNL SONG EVER! And to make it even better Ed slaps W in the face... niiice!

  • Yeah!!! When George Bush sees watches this video, he's totally going to resign as President! Way to go, Ed!

  • Yeah but George Bush is too dumb to understand it anyway!

  • Page\Robertson is the best song writing duo since Lennon McCartney. Too bad they're both flaming liberals. Canada could be so lucky as to have a leader like Bush. I'm sorry we have to be the police of the world. When was the last time Canada was targeted by terrorists?

  • page is a liberal?...uh...but i'm agreed with the song writing duo =D

  • Gosh, I dunno. But not to worry, after we finish our

Mexican Iron Curtain, we can start on Canada... you know, to keep us all safe...

  • ummm, Lennon and McCartney were liberals also. Seems great thinkers have something in common... logic.

  • Ummm, the world was different in the sixties. I guess you're lacking that logic to understand that, huh?

  • i don't know... seems conservatives are getting their kicks once again ... wars, civil injustice, economic upheaval, total disregard to the environment, world isolation.. you know all that stuff the right wing loves

  • whatever

  • that's idiotic. really.

  • If there's no heaven or hell, then you really shouldn't off yourself. It means that you need to make the most of this life. Asshat.

  • Favorite part?

    The smile at the end!!

  • I loved the whole thing. I agree that the smile was awesome though :) He just looks like he's having so damn much fun!

  • Love you Ed. You always make good decisions!

    Thanks again!

  • I didn't get this song growing up, but I think I understand it now. Funny how time changes things, huh? Anyway, good show Mr. Robertson.

  • Your mind must be going for lyrics in your sleep! Your compositions are outstanding, unique and will make The BNL as classic to us Canadians and Bob & Doug! Right on eh! :)

  • 1:36 = best expression ever :)

  • Ed, you are awesome!!!! Cause I know everything's going to be all right, when I go shopping, because I'm the decider. Haha

  • There, we're up to 38 Bathroom videos...nice work, Ed!

  • Another fantastic performance ed - keep them coming.

Was a great show you played in Cambridge Corn Exchange a few weeks ago - it's awesome to have the live recording of the gig, lots of memories! Slightly disappointed I didn't get the USB stick tho and take it to the "porn exchange" :op

  • *giggles* "I'm the decider"

    Thanks again Ed xxx

  • "I'm the decider"

lol, always a pleasure to watch your videos Ed...

Barenaked Ladies Are Hilarious! (and not BLAH at all :P)

  • thats why i like you too :)

    thanks xo
