Lost my husband in February and this was one of OUR songs.......whewwwww. brings back some really GOOD memories. We saw him (Plant) in Toledo in the 80's after now and zen was released what an experience.
Perhaps don't find the video that interesting but remember Zeppelin went and hung out in Morocco and came back with a trunkful of Middle Eastern influences translated to their music. The mothers of his children also have Middle Eastern mixes. So this is him - this is his intellect and a reflection of his life and his brilliant mind thinking outside the box to open up our hearts and our minds and bring joy into our life with his music.
@70sRockChick1 very well put! there would be no kashmir without that trip to the middle east, plenty other songs too, very influential trip, very enlightning, just like the beatles did too, i guess those middle eastern sounds can unlock musical inspiration in alot of musicians.
I saw a concert(This one), at Irvine(OUTSIDE), Meadows in L.A., in 1988..., Robert points to three women who belt "Heaven Knows".., the crowd went CRAZY, and he delved into the song, and later, did a few Zep songs, which he said he'd NEVER do.., it was AWESOME, though I didn't have a great seat, I HAD to be there, and I was NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!<D
then i suppose, anything anything goes...............................i drop to my knees when he says this in the middle of the song!!! magnificent guts, soul and feel!!!!!!!!! this is singing your heart out to the MAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@twistygirl actually, i was being sarcastic. (sorry) lol, the solo on heaven knows and tall cool one is jimmy page! but yeah u are right d. boyle did a very nice job with plant!! thanx! P.
The dark mood that this song maintains reminds me of Brian Ferry. Even the voice accents his style of far away and mystical. Plant, I suspect, was stoned and in a different rhelm long before Ferry was and I'm not suggesting that Plant was mimicing anyone other than himself.
stratdem thank you for telling us how you feel. It really has changed my mind about Jimmy Page and John Bonham. Knowing you dont like them has really changed my mind.
Finally, in high quality on the internet. Thanks ;-[]
