  • I dunno why people try to tell eachother 'proper' bass technique. I say play the instrument however the fuck you want. There was never any bass god that said it had to be played a certain way or you will go to hell.

  • @Kiter02 Yeah I never saw that bass god either. But some techniques are more practical than others; It's naturally easier to play with your fingers than with your armpit

  • most fretless players actually do play fretted differently. There is more horizontal importance in your left hand movement on fretless. Your playing, however, is very understandably similiar to your fretted technique; you do not play like other fretless players with 'mwah' producing movements. You just play like its a fretted.

To each his own, but dont over generalize.

  • @figjambass Yeah, now that I've watched this video it's clear how my technique didn't suit the fretless style too clearly; then again, this isn't my newest fretless video.

  • @Marlowann I would rather here this jam on this bass than a fretted bass, sounds just right to me!!!

  • why do you play fretless, when your technicstyle frettet is?

  • @bluespirat I don't believe there's any significant difference between fretless and fretted technique.

  • @Marlowann more vibrato and longer is singing the tone.

go to" bluespiraten" ingos saxophon jam by youtube hear my sound with warwick corvette Fl.

  • @bluespirat

Ah! I understand. Thank you very much.

  • Is that a Warwick Corvette? I love the playability of those. The first fretless I ever played was a 5 string corvette.

  • excellent playing!

  • Thank you!

  • that has a REALLY upright bass sort of sound, I love it.

  • what type of strings do you use?

  • Rotosound flatwound jazz strings, medium gauge.

  • your bass has the sound of an acoustic bass. very nice for playing jazz..

  • what's that bass!? it's trully beautiful

  • Warwick Corvette.

  • They arent THAT nice ive played one, the neck and fretboard is very good though

  • I think half of it has to do with the right setup and strings.

  • the video has over 9000 views

    lololololololololololololololololololol

  • lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol

  • max the bass on your eq, this is what jaco did when using only his bridge pickup, that will help your tone a great deal

  • Thank you for your opinion. I will let you know however that this is a rather old clip and I feel awkward when performing on camera, but I have improved dramatically since then.

I will say that other than your first tip it seems that you haven't done anything more than insult me, which is immature and is not constructive.

  • Don't listen to that guy. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Great playing and a nice Corvette,

  • 4. ????

    5. PROFIT

  • Do want =]

  • ur fingers are like all over the place.. nice

  • Cool vid dude :)

I've tried this bass in a guitar center in phoenix and it KICKS ASS!!! Crazy sustain and plugged in an ampeg it's incredible!

But this solid bubinga body is fuckin' heavy (personally I don't really care but some people does).

what kind of amp did you used dude?

  • Thank you! The body is rather heavy.

I use some random kind of Ibanez bass amp, if I'm not mistaken it's an Ibanez sound wave 35.

  • Sounds very good,because it's a Warwick!!!!!!!!Good playing!!!fretless basses-better basses!!!!))))))))))

  • What kind of bass is that?

  • Warwick Corvette Standard passive four-string fretless.

  • thanks. great playin by the way

  • Thank you.

  • i meant to ask earlier. is it harder to play fretless. ive been playing bass for over a year now and im interested about looking into fretless basses.

  • It's naturally harder, but it's not a serious obstacle. Simply be slow and patient with practicing intonation.

  • thanks for the advice man.

  • What kind of stings do you use? Do you use nylon strings??? Or round wound?

  • These are actually flatwounds, made by Rotosound.

  • you can get fretless basses with fret markings that will make it a lot easier for you if youre just starting out on a fretless

  • This bass has markings on the side, directly where you need to place your fingers, as opposed to the normal fret-lines which mess with my eyes. Not to mention that I don't wish to be dependent on my vision to have good intonation.

Also, watch my video response, it's much better.

  • Nice runs. I'm liking the tone too!

  • sounds like flatwound stings you should try roundwound's much more tone from them, a lot rougher on your fingers though, nice playing

  • Well, once I get the money to spare I'll probably get some rounds to try out, although I've modified my setup and improved my technique significantly since I've posted this video, my tone has gotten better.

  • only use rounds if the neck is stropng enough to handle them or they'll eat the neck.

  • Yes, I know. I have an ebony fingerboard, and I've observed ebony fingerboards to withstand roundwound strings considerably well.

  • Wow thats nice

    I like tone

  • in a creative run!!? what a dick- my whole life is a creative rut. this is great.

  • Thanks :D

  • where did you get that for $900?

  • Local guitar center.

  • nice playing man, I have a vette fretless as well

for people interested in it, i got mine for 550 US used at GC, look around a bit and maybe youll get lucky

  • a warwick costs anywhere fron 1,500 to 8,000 dollars.....but hey!

  • shop at guitar centre. about $900

  • nah, its about $1300

  • well I've seen it for $900.

also, the amp used in this video doesn't do much for the usual good sound of the bass. Good improvising though, especially on a fretless!

  • oh :/ my store sells it for around 1300 :(

  • are you Canada or the States? Either way, maybe try to go in and say "I can get it at another store for $900" and maybe they'll give you a deal! :D

  • I got mine for $900

  • i think the jack bruce signature, like the one he used on cream reunion might run 1300

  • not if u buy it preownd. he prolly did, i got mine new as a gift from The Rolling Stones :), yehh... i got connections =] its really sweet

  • Rolling stones, dude? That's what I call a connection.

  • paid about 950 for mine, at GC. best chunck of change i ever spent.

  • I got that same bass on the vid for 899

  • What amp you using?

  • Some Ibanez practice amp. I can't be specific.

  • quite cool, although not always in tune and gets quite boring after 1.5min ;]

  • Yeah, I noticed my intonation issues when watching the vid.

  • how much did that bass set you back?

  • 900 dollars.

  • nice jamming!...nice melody

  • Dayum. Very nice finger work. Wish I could play that fast. Very well done.

  • I play often... Just remember though, playing well musically is more important than speed.

...Not like shredding isn't fun... :D

  • Hey, it's me again. Is that bass active or passive?

  • Passive.

  • I think it's great.

  • Thanks
