Chances are that the red car is one that my son did test trials on as this ride was being developed by Premier Rides in the US for Disney. The rapid recharge electric system is quiet and clean unlike the putt putt gas engines used in prior similar rides.
some of them can't get the electric cars based on sponership issues. Cali's disney can't get electric cars cause they are sponsered by Chevron which is a gas company. Paris is out too as it is sponsered by ford who don't make electric cars it would look bad for that company to sponser a ride that has a car that would make them obsolete.
I hear that HKDL's cars run on electricity instead of gas. They should apply that to all versions of the ride out there, especially the ones in California and France.
They are planning to do that, Hong Kong's version is the "trial" and if it successful all the other Autopia's will be revamped to use electric cars. It's about time for that, based on their refurb trends.
