  • My loyalty lays with Clan Wolf, I loved playing as them in Mechwarrior 2. Playing as the Innersphere, I always used Clan Mechs (ie Timberwolf and MadDog).

  • what is the song that is playing in the background

  • i love how this is the most clearly thought out and well researched debate on youtube for this video xD

  • For the Honor, and the Glory! of Clan Ghost Bear!

Now it's time to go Stomp some Freebirth Smoke Jaguars! Qui'Af?

  • @LordBicen Pitiful fool. Clan Wolf is the strongest of the clans, and I challenge anyone on the field of honor to prove otherwise!

  • @millenniumf1138 Wardens dont typically fight Wardens. They tend to be on the same side, guy. When the clans invaded, 6 clans won the right to enter the inner sphere 3 wardens 3 crusaders: Clan Wolf, Clan Jade Falcon, Clan Ghost Bear, Clan Smoke Jaguar, Clan Steel Viper, and Clan Nova Cat. the wolves were, till the Jade Wolves Split... Look it up. when they Split, the remnants of clan wolf were harbored by Captured Pilot and former prisoner Phaelan(sp) Kell and his Kell Hounds Brigade. PROVEN!

  • @LordBicen I bow to your superior knowledge of Battletech lore (it's been ages since I read the materials, but I still like to pull out a copy of Mechwarrior 4 and blow away Inner Sphere mechs). :)

  • @josh52345 the Inner Sphere did not 'cheat' anyone. It was the fault of the Clans that they failed merely because they lost touch with human history of warfare and choose to abide by 'honour' above all else. They underestimated the IS. Nothing more.

  • @harkeill I perfer to play Claners myself, but that is the truth. They didn't "cheat" they took advantage of the situation just like ALL of human history of warfare. The Crusaders and "true to His vision" clans just couldn't accept it.

  • the inner sphere won because they cheated the clans. The clans would have never done what they did during the battle for the truce.

  • Where do the clips at 0:27, 0:54, and 1:10 come from?

  • Comment removed

  • @SulliMike241

The first two you asked are from MechCommander.

  • i went to the san ntonio com con on friday and they had these there it was version 5.6 and i playd as loki

  • after all of the mech videos ive saw i found this the best in youtube! love it man love it! mixxing every mech game i know into the video that makes it cool! awsome job man!

  • @matiasalvarez07 The music is the theme score to the movie 'Crimson Tide' by Hans Zimmer.

  • What music is this?

  • IO

'd actually prefer a game where the Elemantels played a more active part in the game, like the the the BattleTech series. I would love to pilotan Eletary (in a full campaign), if only to make thinks more interestred during a 'Mech battle. hame.

  • 'tis a shame you do not see very many BattleTech videos that show the War Hawk in action or even a Nova.

  • The first vid I put into my favs here on YouTube, and I still love to watch it!

  • what music is used in this?

  • @Escuderoam Roll tide, by Hans Zimmer

  • @pigsdofly6 wow, so awesome, and it fits this almost perfectly...

  • The skill of the pilot is important yes, but so is the Skill of the Commander.

Mech Commander 1 and its expansion proved that.

  • old cheap crap graphics!!!

  • @dontrustwhiteyever1 First put up a video of your own and only THEN can you comment on things like graphics. Until that time, Fuck off.

  • ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • love it!!

  • Kudos! Great editing, especially the sounds!

  • Now THAT was well done. You did FASA proud right there, my friend.

  • A one-hit KO by the WarHawk's PPC to the Commando (1:23) really shows how powerful Clan tech is over its IS counter-parts.

The 25 tonner Commando never even had a chance.

  • @atpcw How do I download this vid?

Before you get hammered by some bullshit law and it´s lost forever?

  • these games shall be teh missed :( i played mechwarrior games, AND THIS IS STILL MY MOST MEMORABLE VID ON UTUB

  • The music is from Crimson Tide ????

  • @Quattroowner Aye,m and definitely fitting for this video.

  • @yieldingkratz6969

I agree in full even though robotech is more or less the "grandaddy" off Transformers(off wich I´m also a fan)

But Battletech is better by far than robotech!

  • @TheShadowwolf88 Yeah, but with Robotech, every enemy was an alien and you never saw much (if any) real combat between the different mechas that belonged to the same side. With BattleTech/MechWarrior, at least there was the consistency of the human experience and fact that just because someone can pilot a 100 ton Atlas or Dire Wolf didn't necessarily mean they would win against lighter, smaller 'Mechs. It all came down to individual piloting experience in the end.

  • @gribae

Yeah but if you´re in an Atlas facing off against a wasp you usually don´t have to worry much since it was made to take aswooping and deal worse!

    But I get the message!

¨Have´nt played BT so much but study a lot on sarna and Patricks BT-archive(site´s been closed)!

You saw my previous coment from 3 months ago?

  • @TheShadowwolf88 Transformers supersceeded RoboTech, I believe, by only a year or two.

  • @gribae

    Did´nt Transformers come after "Gobots"?

  • this was actually the FIRST VIDEO I SAW ON YOUTUBE, brings back memories, cuz it wa such a awesome vid

  • @orkkilla5589 Same for me lol.

  • Great video and choice of music. Is there a higher resolution available?

  • Some off my friends actually thought that mechwarrior and mechcommander had NOTHING whatsoever to do with battletech!!!

I have heard and seen rumours about a possible BT-movie hope it´s true!

I hope they make a "remake" off the first BT-game(crescent Hawk´s Inception/Revenge or rpg-type anyway)!!!!

  • What a great game. I played Battletech when it was here in my city. The real only video game that had you using every part of your body eyes, hands & feet for torso. Unbeleivable! I miss that game.

  • Was it an arcade-game?

  • i played battle trech when come out in 80s i miss those days :)

  • Who does´nt???

  • Those days are gone, but there are new and, occasionally better games from the franchise now which only adds to the enjoyment.

  • @sirsammy33 Looks like you missed a lot of your English lectures as well.

  • @sirsammy33 If you refering to the miniatures game it's still around...

  • @sirsammy33

    and?

i still play it today ;)

    BT is not dead!

  • @sirsammy33

    I miss my Warhammer.

  • Harmony Gold isn't trying to stop Mechwarrior 3015, they just rose a stink over a use of the Warhammer, which is one of the unseen (and wasn't, in their view, changed enough in that teaser). Catalyst (the people handling Battletech now) are in talks with HG, who is being a bit less cunt-like than usual, apparently. If all else fails, they'll probably just use the reseen appearance.

This video itself is pretty cool - you managed to make a lot of old stuff look and sound fresh again.

  • People are arguing over mechwarrior's copyright problems and at the top of this video it says invalid arguments highlighted in red. Strange...

  • lol thats funny

  • mechwarrior 5 is being planned right now, but fasa is in some trouble with copyrights. many of the original battlemech designs are nearly exact copies of machines from other franchises, like robotech/macross. battletech started off as a board game like dungeons and dragons, played by few nerds in their parents basements. after the video games came out in the last 15 years they've had more attention and now they're getting into legal trouble. hopefully it'll get cleared up and mw5 will come out

  • They had this copyright troubles already 20 years ago when I bought my first Battletech board game. I wonder why this is still going on and on. The dispute should have been settled by now either this or the other way.

  • Different company, mainly. Harmony Gold like to sit back these days and do nothing but occasionally sue people. At least 20 years ago they were actually doing something. Now they're just doing it to be dicks, it seems.

  • Well some off these dipshit corporations has nothing better to do then fuck around about copyright!

  • FASA don't really exist anymore, as a company. They still have IP rights to some things, though. The group making the Mech reboot is Smith & Tinker, which is owned by the founder of FASA. Harmony Gold are the ones who are trying to stop them, because some of the old 'Mech designs look quite similar to some of the mecha from the Macross series.

  • it's smith@tinker and piranha studios

  • Yeah. Harmony Gold are the company that are trying to take legal action to stop them making the game. I do hope that doesn't occur.

  • developmental hell....it's a bitch

  • @Tigerhawk71 Harmony Gold... isnt that the company that made Robotech? In my opinion, BattleTech is a better, grittier universe!

  • @Tigerhawk71 well if I saw a completely different company saying that battletech owned the warhammer... I see where harmony gold is going with this.

  • @orkkilla5589 It's not that simple - at the time the creators of the designs in question had approved of it and all was well. But since then, Harmony has obtained the rights to the IP. They don't approve. That's where the problem lies. It's not as simple as copying and hoping they wouldn't notice. They originally had approval.

  • @Tigerhawk71 AKA: the Warhammer and Wasp.

  • Yup. Harmony Gold are still dicks. And they will remain that way. I'm really hanging for the 4-player co-op in the reboot.

  • I´m not sure I like the reboot-idea!

They usually come out all screwed up!

  • It may even run the risk off getting severely fucked up like when som MORON-corporation decided to make Fallout 3(complete crap!)

and change it from traditional RPG to shoot´em´up-style!!!!

Offcourse Mechwarrior IS more or less a shoot´em´up but in this case I´m more worried about the story-setting(or lack theroff)!!!

  • The story-telling are what the BattleTech and MechWarrior: Dark Age books are for. The games are merely there to place you in a 'Mech at certain campaings of the BattleTech storyline.

Operation Bulldog - MechCommander and MechWarrior 3 (example)

Why tell the same story twice?

  • @gribae Um... because MechCommander and MechWarrior 3 took place on different planets.

Same operation, different theaters of battle. MechCommander was the sledgehammer that dealt a severe blow to Clan Smoke Jaguar on Port Arthur. MechWarrior 3 was the scalpel operation that succeeded in assassinating Galaxy Commander Brendan Corbett before he could regroup his forces on Tranquility.

  • @AICW I know all that. Port Arthur was a campaign of Operation Bulldog (whilst in the Inner Sphere) and Tranquilityt was after (or during) Operation Serpent's defeat of Huntress. What I meant was that the story is not often as great in two game formats as well as detailed in 8 books - leave it with one game, and be satisfied with the rest of the plot from the Twilight series.

  • @TheShadowwolf88 I like Fallout 3. It is different, and will never live up to the originals in my mind, but it's nevertheless a fun game, and has enough silly shit in it to echo the easter eggs and humor of black isle's. I don't see anyone else trying to come up with something better, except perhaps for Gearbox, and I'm not sure they succeeded.

    Keep an open mind ^^

  • strange that until wiz kids got the property, now their having all these problems with lawsuits and such, but beforehand when it was made in the 80's there wasn't so much as a eyebrow was raised...

  • So thats Battletech/Mechwarrior in a nutshell,Ive always found it funny that the newer mechs are the ones that slope down in a primitave way like the mad cat,and the upright walking ones like the atlas are actually the old battlemechs.

  • this is the best battletech video i´ve seen hope to see more of them.

I can watch this over and over and over again. Do you think they will make an actual movie off battletech som day SSSOOOOOOONNNN!!!!

  • nice vid, insipring stuff

  • in the very beginning, maybe before it

  • When does the Mechwarrior reboot take place on this timeline?

  • So far as been told, it takes place in 3015, but not sure yet if it will follow a specific campaign (MW3, MC1, MC2) or if it will span the years (like MW Mercenaries did from 3025 - 3050)

  • I'm old school.... Real old school, WSP-1A (Wasp) capable of transforming from mech to a hybrid (LAM-Land-Air-Mech), and an aerospace fighter. That was the best scout mech. I still have the paperwork for my Wasp. They phased them out of the game because of infringment on Robo-Tech. I would scout an area solo and usually be able to egress with very little damage. Of course my pilot had a hard time getting experience points but everyone wanted me on their side then!!!

  • BUllshit

  • As i remember from crescent hawks inception it was the hawk-LAM(i think) that had the ability to "transform" NOT the Wasp(WSP-1A)

  • i like the raven-mech, is a light ton mech, but a fast scouter.

  • That has also been my favourite of the Inner Sphere 'Mechs. The later versions of it should never have been made.

  • Well, there is an up-armored version called the Men Shen which has all the Raven's ECM systems but has more armor, weapons, and a larger power core all with the same speed as the Raven. An Even better scout 'Mech but at the cost of affordibility... Still the Raven is a sturdy little Omnimech and an even better scout and gurilla 'Mech in my book.

  • The Raven is an Inner Sphere, not an Omni, but still, even with all the bonuses the Men Shen has over the Raven, I am something of a traditionalist and will always look to the Raven as the ultimate scout 'Mech. I think its design is probably the best of all light-class 'Mechs- Clan and IS alike.

  • WATH'S the god dam fucking song,i love it and i don't know NOTHING about it!

    amazing video

  • It's from the movie Crimson Tide.

  • Thank you very much

  • i want to know it, too

  • Comment removed

  • it's in the endings

it's from the movie crimson tide ;D

  • Clan Jade Falcon, reporting in.

  • ' Clanners? Hah! Waste them all... '

  • Sublime Vid.

Great music choice and neat cutting!

    BT FTW!

    Favorited!

  • make a movie already

  • Hollywood would make a movie and it would suck hard. I think a good TV series like BSG would do much better.

  • There has been a BattleTech series, an early 90s self-titled 'BattleTech' cartoon, which you can find on the site. However it would be good to have a new series brought on.

  • Well, it did explain how some of the houses started fighting back against the Clans.

  • i agree 100% if hollywood got there hands on BT

.....ugh dosnt bare thinking about look what they did to trance formers! looks prity but thats all i can say thats good about it.

  • They have been trying to for a while now - but it eeps getting put on the shelf because of demands for other "more quality movies" like Transformers (and there have always been a lack of funds for such a project and consumer support - much like the problem Babylon 5 has in venturing into the gaming industry)

  • Very nice video, nice historical compilation.

Long Live the Inner Sphere :)

  • While I have played the majority of the games, I need a little bit of help to identify some of the clips in the movie. Mainly the Ravyn at 30 seconds in, the maddog at 55 seconds, and the short part at 1:11. Any help is appreciated.

  • At 0:30, the Raven is from MechCommander (the oginal), at 0:55, the Mad Dog is from MechWarrior 3 and 1:11, the Summoner (aka 'Thor') is also from MechWarrior 3, if you meant the individual clips

  • awesome trailer !

  • probably, but gundams are a completely different technology level

  • maybe, maybe not.

in my eyes i can see battletech mechas being what western countries stick out on the battlefield, and something gundam like for the more technology advance countries such as japan and korea.

  • A single clan's Elemental mech is enough to destroy a gundam. asd

  • It depends on the skill of the Toadie - you have to remember that one move or a bad decision, even just a second's hesitation can mean the difference between panting a satchel bomb on a 'Mech (or "gundam") and being flattened under the 'Mech foot.

  • aren't elemental's power armors

  • Yes, because we all know the Strike Freedom is incredibly realistic.

  • So tiring when people even try comparing gundam to BattleTech...

  • Are you serious, people are that stupid? They have nothing in comparison,Mechs and Gundam look nothing alike,I do like any from of giant piloted machines of war,but when did those two things come to comparison?

  • What are you talking about? I never said Gundams/BattleMechs looked alike. I've been telling other people they looked NOTHING alike.

  • No,no,no,no,no,Im agreeing with you,Thats why I said,"I can't believe people are that stupid."

  • My apologies in that case, I misunderstood/misread

  • T's fine.

  • @a15godzilla Talk to mechs is talk to gundam (even mecha is a japanese word)... gundam exist before, and theys create the real robot... really doesn't any comparation... gundam is an autentic, realistic, old and solid universe, and their mechs (they can call it "mechs") were designed by profesionals (at the Japanese nobody teachs how design mechs or create stories)

  • @NatsumaruSama So,your stating the differences?

  • Comment removed

  • No, that's just your opinion

  • lets see how those gundams do against a couple of LRM salvos and PPC blasts.

  • "Mobile Suits/Gundams" are too over complex and delicate, and have weak weapon systems. They would not last against a few solid PPC blasts, or even a couple shots from an Auto cannon.

  • While I like MS:Gundam Wing, agreed. The Gundam universe(S) have their technology based on fiction, things that can never be true due to the laws of physics that they break and BattleTech is far more realistic in that regard, although Gundam delves a little deeper into the psyche of every day people. BattleTech mostly revolves only around MechWarriors. Kind of boring when you see everything else going on in the series (politics, subterfuge, terrorism, fate, destiny et cetera)

  • @D313370r Not to mention that Mobile Suits/Gundams always seem to be evolving more into fantasy, with personalised shields and near-indestructible armour (such as Gundamium alloy), whereas BattleMechs are kept to as close to real-life as possible.

  • Comment removed

  • @D313370r if a battletech fight with a 1st generation mobile suit (as a saku 1) may have a chance; but a saku ll, Dom, kampfer, etc etc etc can destroy easily any battlemech (gundanium can resist rounds of 200mm and a atmospheric reentry), also, a suit's mobility is much higher, and their weapons are realy powerfull (200mm machine guns, beam sabers of +7500ºC and beam cannons +12000kW), mobile suits are very complex, but much more lethals (Gundams are realy weapons of mass destruction)

  • @NatsumaruSama Keep in mind that BattleTech/MechWarrior tries to keep as close to the principles of reality (as far as physics goes) than anything gundam has ever done.

  • @Gallowell May be the only exageration in gundam animes are the fast extremity moves; anyway, in gundam, physics is closer as you think, the minovski reactor use the same principles of the nuclear fusion (added the minovsky particle) and the AMBAC system operates according the law of conservation of the angular momentum (as a little example), which explains too why the mobile suits have extremity. which is the justification of the batlemech arms and legs?

  • @NatsumaruSama Artificial Muscles. Legs are needed to maintain a stable combat platform. The arms are mearly extra weapon holders. No more no less.

I've never dived truely deep into BattleTech implements really, besides the weapons, which are far more plausible.

Extreme speed may get your somewhere, but, ya know, I never liked the ignorance of gravity on some occasions...

  • @JohnMidnight2160 Then perhaps you should 'dive' further into BattleTech/ MechWarrior and read some of the technical manuals that have been printed over the years. You can learn quite a lot of useful information (which is also based on the sciences of today) which describe how something like a BattleMech IS very plausible and could be built with today's technology (except for the energy weapons and its reactor)

  • @Gallowell Sorry if I sounded I was against BT was very unplausible :) I've always believed that BT type vehicles are far more plasible happening that... whatever anime mech came to lie.

  • @Gallowell Aye, I should :) but I wasn't dinging BT :) As for the gravity ignorance remark, that was at Gundam >.> oh and their flying in atmospheric gravity...

  • @JohnMidnight2160 Theoretic Physics doesn't even understand gravity... Maybe we can just make up our shit once in awhile without parents permission ehh????? Everything started as a fucking dream if you dont fucking mind... Mind you i recently authored a real paper recalibrating the speed of light to infinite acceleration allowing for local scale density reference manipulation... anyway... back to "gaming"... Sorry, just venting it has been a long year :)

  • @Gallowell

Also check BattletechWiki on Sarna.net for aditional info (I gues you know about it)!

  • @Gallowell As far as all of it being 'plausible' it certainly is that; unfortunately it isn't too likely they'll ever be built. The types of lightweight armor that allow a mech to sustain any damage to the very complicated and delicate internal mechanisms they rely on to function are things that we don't have. All technical problems aside (and as cool as fuck battletech and everything in it is, i love this shit), mechs probably won't ever be a viable weapons platform.

  • @Gallowell Even if you look at battletech fiction, writers have to bend over backwards to come up with reasons why mechs are a reasonable choice for weapons, and they constantly cover up any problems that occur. With the technology that they possess, why is ground warfare even considered important? If you have ftl and warships (hell, if you have mastered intra-system flight), who would bother with landing troops? A simple "Surrender or we'll blast you from orbit" should do fine.

  • @RyokenMK If you had even read any of the original books, you'll know that orbital attacks are outlawed by the Ares Convention, and even the Clans held true to the belief that warfare should not be waged with mere buttons and switches - but to get down into the trenches. So when the Smoke Jaguars razed Edo on Turtle Bay, they were selected as the main target for the SLDF Task forces Bulldog and Serpent.

  • @Varrenify I have read the books. I'm saying that particular convention is....unlikely. As in, an excuse to have mech battles. Also, you'll note the ranges on weapons, even the aerofighters weapons ranges tend to be in the 1 to 2 kilometer range, when most of the weapons our aircraft use now, especially against ground targets, are capable of being fired accurately from dozens of miles away. I.E. way outside the range of a mech's weapons.

  • @RyokenMK Maybe, its the same reason as why we still use conventional military structures such as infantries and tanks instead of outright bombing using planes and naval ships. The objective is to control a system, not outright destroy it because in the end if everything is just destroyed you would have won nothing.

I don't know but this could be a reason why...

  • @neokazuka In the end, if an army bombs or shells a place to hell, there is nothing left for that army to control or use. All water sources would be contaminated, there would be no food and nothing standing in which to use as strategic HQ centres for planning the next operational phases. And since armies really only target places which hold significant strategic value, it would be all but useless if everything were bombed out of existence.

  • @RyokenMK

Ive been thinking that too. The excuse as I know it was that during the early 1980s when jordan weisman et. al. were creating BT, they weren't expecting that computers would become smaller (i.e. C3 computer in the tons) and that you'd have MLRSs and tomahawk cruise missiles becoming so crucial in battle (i.e. LRMs 1km only).

However, 20 missiles weighing 0.12tons each fired 1km away would be more effective than one 2ton missile fired 2000km away only to be shot down by 'mech AMS.

  • Just do us all a favour and comment only on your gundam shows and don't try compairing it to BattleTech - there is no comparison for those of us who prefer 31 Century Combat to cartoons.

  • Quality over quantity buddy.

As for your blunt reference to the fine line between fantasy and reality, Battletech always strived to adhere to the laws of physics as much as a mech based universe would allow, given the current technology level of course. In my experience with Gundam (08th MS Team, Gundam Seed Destiny, Char's Counterattack), the same cannot be said, with possible exception for the MS Team.

  • mecha is about playing on your fantasy. people don't care about laws of physics or any of that bull shit.

they want to see giant mechas blow the shit out of other mechas

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHA-

Wow, er, well, here's the thing about Gundam, buddy, you do know that the first series was under constant threat of being pulled from syndication?

And, yes, Jordan Weisman is -totally- a basement dweller. The creator of the new Mechwarrior game is a complete hack who has no budget.

Idiot. Research before you spout crap, will you?

  • Counter Example:

    Front Mission.

a Japan made game that uses mecha that look like stuff from Battletech.

  • Well, Front Mission took eleven years to copy stuff from Battletech.

  • Well of course they would, with their androgynous teenage pilots and selectively infinite ammo, and their hard hitting solar based super secret laser pew pew pew weaponry and repeated recycled clips of them shooting their big guns over and over, with ONE Gundam taking out an entire squadron or dozen of Zakus. I mean what chance does a ground bound 100 ton 'Mech have with AC20's and LRMS against a physics defying Jesus-esque posing winged robot a 10th of its weight???

  • Comment removed

  • Of course, yet again with its totally believable ballet dancing type flight mode that defies all known physics and massive laser beams larger than half the Gundam itself, with selectively infinite energy that drains only when more believable physics and luck are to be displayed.

  • I always wanted to see something (game, book, whichever) involving Clan Snow Raven - although they're not a big part of the overall series, I've always wanted to see something about them.

  • While Falcon and Wolf fight each other, Steel Viper takes over the clans :p

  • well, hunterzeromodding obviously it is the fav of nickolas cuz he is the founder reatard!

  • DOWN WITH CLAN JADE FALCON!!

i am a wolf warrior, and will see to it that the clan is liberated from you blasted birds. You WILL NOT take clan wolf down, never. Clan wolf is the favorite of our beloved founding father, nickolas kerensky.

  • thank you

  • Pft, I don't even live in slagsville, so why would I bother with an obvious fraud like this, when I gain nothing from it?

Go back to your bong, brain-dead drone.

  • Clan Wolf will take over the Inner Sphere

  • Not from their track record, sorry. They've currently been divided into factions - one based in and on the side of the Inner Sphere and the other, Clan ideals. Weakened from the TOR with Jade Falcon, and only intact because of the mercy of Khan Marthe Pryde, they're still fighting to be Absorbed from the remining surving Clans.

    Not good odds!

  • is this a real game?

  • these are actually clips of several games, so yes, it is a real "game"

  • a punch or a kick would be bice to see :P

    good job mates

  • The Davions will destroy the Steiners and take the fight to the clans!

  • Inner Sphere will burn for Cameron's Death!
