@TheWindowshasser as the poster of these videos, i can confidently say its not true. after i lost interest in final cut pro (which is one of the only reasons i ever had a mac), switching back to pc was the logical choice for me. the hardware choices along with windows 7 was a good deal. i use adobe products mainly anyway for videos(which work great) and being able to have a top of the line setup(with peripherals) for roughly the cost of a base mac pro is too hard to pass up.
OK listen. Some people like macs, some people like PCs. Some people love gaming (such as myself) and a PC is perfect for them. Some people prefer making movies and music, etc... and Mac is perfect for them. I personally like PCs better but I'm not going to trash Macs. The only thing I think we can agree on is that Mac has better commercials lol.
Actually, while I AM in favor of Macs, the one at 0:50 just shows that they're both good for different things. Also, people, what's with the "we" have this "you" have that? This isn't two sides of a damn war. I have a PC that I use solely for Sims 2 and work, and a Mac I use for video taking, Internet surfing etc. They have their perks and their downsides, both of them. They're completely different.

I love these commercials (as misleading as they are), but my past and current experiences with Macs somehow manage to overshadow them, keep me on my good old pc :]
@illydinxaxen it all depends what you need... do you need OSX? do you use final cut? shake? or garageband? modo? if not, I would say just go for a PC. especially if you build your own, since you get much better parts and quite a bit cheaper...

The mac can't run any program unless it's built for it, the processor is slow as shit, I've gotten more viruses on a Mac then my PC ever had, and I once renamed my system information blank so the system couldn't find it.

@rachethom OSX is great, but its the hardware that turns me off. All the consumer products are completely limited, proprietary designs. While the high end are extremely overpriced as well as underfeatured. On the pc side, windows 7 has been great, there is plenty of software to so anything you want to so. And the hardware possibilities are endless as well as cheaper. Unless you really want a Mac for some personal reason or need final cut, I still would recommend pc over the Mac.
@VeniNephifade there are plenty of tools on PC for anything that you can do on the Mac, thus my macbook pro is collecting dust unless I wanna use it on the couch... I would rather use my super fast system I built than my mediocre macbook....

I switched to mac in college because the fastest pc I has used was like a pentium 4 and the macs were much faster. so technically its not because the macs were super fast or anything, its because the PCs I used were old and slow that I believed mac was better. in terms of OS, it is personal preference, and it all depends on how much preference you have, but in terms of hardware, PC kills imo

Tell me, all you mac users, how is it practical to own a mac? These commercials advert making videos, listening to music, making websites. But I can do that on a windows comp... easier too as windows has more programs to choose from. And games are released on windows first, and I don't need to get special parts to upgrade my hardware. It's not opinion at all, it's practicality. I am more practical because I use windows. The computer world nativily supports me.

Motherboards in many other oem pcs are made at the same place as the Mac motherboards. Other than the motherboard, every other piece of the Mac can be put in a pc. MY primary gaming system is the PS3 (although I do enjoy playing on the PC as well), and in MW2 there is lag to beat hell. the spots where you and another guy go to knife each other while turning a corner, why does it seem that he always sees you first? or you get shot and you are already 5 feet around the corner? what about the times when you go through a doorway and magically end up back in the room you left? thats what you get with no dedicated servers.

That's a pretty big generalization. It is true that pcs can do anything a mac can ( I'm not talking about the programs. I'm talking about what programs do. Sure they can't use final cut, but there is nuke, after effects, toxik, etc that can do what final cut does. If you talk about certain programs, then no pcs can't do everything.

Its appropriate to generalize in this case. Just walk through any big box electronics store... how many white keypads do you see? If visibility is your primary criterion, what are your choices? Almost all of the Mac portables have light or backlit keyboards. My old IBM thinkpad had one LED to light-up the dark keys so at least they were aware of the problem but I guess fashion rules over practicality.

@rachethom OSX is great, but its the hardware that turns me off. All the consumer products are completely limited, proprietary designs. While the high end are extremely overpriced as well as underfeatured. On the pc side, windows 7 has been great, there is plenty of software to so anything you want to so. And the hardware possibilities are endless as well as cheaper. Unless you really want a Mac for some personal reason or need final cut, I still would recommend pc over the Mac.

Windows 7 was a complete game changer for me.. I hates XP and was afraid of all the problems with vista. if 7 wasnt as good as it is... I would have a mac pro now, so glad for windows 7

I switched to mac in college because the fastest pc I has used was like a pentium 4 and the macs were much faster. so technically its not because the macs were super fast or anything, its because the PCs I used were old and slow that I believed mac was better. in terms of OS, it is personal preference, and it all depends on how much preference you have, but in terms of hardware, PC kills imo

@paydn202 Macs are not horrible machines. they do what they do well. but to me they are just hardware limited and expensive, plus I just dont see the use for OSX anymore when all my programs run on windows and I would be using windows 99% of the time so I could play my games. I used macs for about 3 years and they were fine and worked flawlessly. its just when I decided to upgrade for more power that I learned building your own PC is the way to go.

Tell me, all you mac users, how is it practical to own a mac? These commercials advert making videos, listening to music, making websites. But I can do that on a windows comp... easier too as windows has more programs to choose from. And games are released on windows first, and I don't need to get special parts to upgrade my hardware. It's not opinion at all, it's practicality. I am more practical because I use windows. The computer world nativily supports me.

I like the second one where he says he likes doing music movies and podcasts. Does Apple know that a PC can do it just fine? They advert that they can create a website or a movie or record, but once again, a windows based computer can do that too... and you don't need special parts on windows, and games release for windows more than they do a mac. So in reality, how is owning a mac worth while if windows can do everything it can do, and is primiarly supported by all devs of games and programs?

Motherboards in many other oem pcs are made at the same place as the Mac motherboards. Other than the motherboard, every other piece of the Mac can be put in a pc. How can you say a Mac motherboard that you know nothing about is better quality or more reliable than a high end pc motherboard. Your argument is flawed because you lack proof.

So you are saying that people should spend $600-$2500 on a consumer mac, then spend an additional $300 to be able to play games? Not to mention you would still need to get a TV/monitor. mac mini - $600, Xbox - $300, 32-37" TV - $500 = $1400
now how bout a decent mac - base imac - add $600, i5 imac - add $1400.
i5 imac, xbox, tv - $2800.....
decent gaming PC (alienware) for all of the above - $1100 + 32-37" tv =$1600

MY primary gaming system is the PS3 (although I do enjoy playing on the PC as well), and in MW2 there is lag to beat hell. the spots where you and another guy go to knife each other while turning a corner, why does it seem that he always sees you first? or you get shot and you are already 5 feet around the corner? what about the times when you go through a doorway and magically end up back in the room you left? thats what you get with no dedicated servers.

That is very true, although you can use bootcamp to run windows and play any game you want. I gotta say playing left 4 dead 2 on ultra high at 1920x1200 res is really nice. I play all sorts of games on my main pc rig. I7 920 and nvidia 275.

If someone comes to me and asks which mac they should get, I'll gladly help them, but if they ask what kind of computer they should get, I'll most likely tell them PC.

Its appropriate to generalize in this case. Just walk through any big box electronics store... how many white keypads do you see? If visibility is your primary criterion, what are your choices? Almost all of the Mac portables have light or backlit keyboards. My old IBM thinkpad had one LED to light-up the dark keys so at least they were aware of the problem but I guess fashion rules over practicality.

There are tons of other ways to do it as well...
